Hotel Grand Pacific

Victoria, Vancouver Island

The hotel

One of Victoria’s most coveted addresses is just the first of many ‘pluses’ at Hotel Grand Pacific. Even though it skirts the town’s beautiful Inner Harbour, perched by the BC Legislature and Parliament Buildings and 2 blocks from downtown’s dining and shopping scene, they’ve got a collection of city cruiser bikes ready in case you fancy exploring by pedal rather than on foot. Of course, you might prefer to just ‘stay in’ at this romantic chateau-style hotel — and there are plenty of reasons you would. You could soak up the ocean air from your private balcony. You could soak in the sumptuous pool and Jacuzzi at Victoria Athletic Club. You could also sink your teeth into authentic BC delights at its dining outlets, with its West Coast Afternoon Tea giving you the opportunity to experience this Victoria ‘institution’ first hand.

This hotel is centrally-located in Inner Harbor and walkable to everything. The staff is incredible... friendly, accommodating, and professional. They upgraded us for free and answered our requests in mere seconds. The rooms were impeccable and spacious. Olay, who works are the front desk, deserves his own review, as he was amazing. From the bell hops to the wait staff, this hotel rates as highly as possible in my book. I will definitely stay there again when I visit Victoria. Read less

The hotel is nice, but a little dated with a bit of mishmashed decor. We reserved two rooms - one with a king bed for my husband and me and a connecting room with two queens for the kids. We were given a queen instead of a king, which is just not large enough as my husband is tall. I ended up sleeping with one of the kids. Beds were extremely firm… Read more

Bath towels and toiletries were nice. The breakfast was underwhelming with bland hollandaise, lackluster corned beef hash and over cooked eggs. Service at breakfast was a bright spot. It’s well located for ferry to/from Seattle or the v2v service to Vancouver. If we are lucky enough to return to beautiful Victoria will stay elsewhere. Read less

We spent 4 nights here and decided to upgrade to a harbour view which was probably a good idea as the views were great. Saved a few dollars by opting out of having the room serviced each day. This money could be used for dining in the hotel. We had breakfast each morning out of convenience, but I felt that it was nothing great and would have… Read more

This money could be used for dining in the hotel. We had breakfast each morning out of convenience, but I felt that it was nothing great and would have expected more choices. Didn't bother to have dinner there as there are plenty of nearby alternatives. The staff were all very friendly and I loved the big swimming pool. By the way, there were apples available in the spa - unfortunately I didn't discover this until our last day! There didn't seem to be any grocery shops nearby. Read less

Good location on inner harbor. That's pretty much it. Nothing special. I stay in hotels to rest and refresh while traveling. Neither happened after a multi-day stay when visiting the Victoria area. The bed felt like a sheet of plywood covered with a blanket and pillows were apparently purchased from a dollar store. Neither are comfortable for side or stomach sleepers. Not sure why the ratings are so high. Makes me wonder. Certainly not the quality of hotel expected based on other reviews and certainly not a hotel we will be returning to when we come back to Victoria. Read less
