Beds weren't the best, a little soft, like they hadn't been changed in a decade. Food/breakfast for 2, $64? Not even worth half that. Yogurt was blander, slimy, like watered down and gummy. Fruit, most sour. First day: butter, 2 jams, peanut butter, was pretty decent (fruit sweet, croissant perfect) 2nd day, 2 jams, for 2 people, period. Sausage… Read more

Fruit, most sour. First day: butter, 2 jams, peanut butter, was pretty decent (fruit sweet, croissant perfect) 2nd day, 2 jams, for 2 people, period. Sausage was horrible, toast were warmed bread, not toasted, roasted potatoes needed a bit more cooking. 3rd day, 1 jam period, for 2 people. Croissant was a bit over done, 3/4 fruit too sour, bad yogurt and granola (didn't eat). Breakfast was late, already had to be out of room by 11am. Called for more jam, peanutbutter... I've had better breakfasts from fast food. If you want to be 4 star, upgrade beds and get better cooks in the kitchen, breakfasts aren't that hard to cook...hence why I never ate any other meals at hotel. Positive: Beautiful, large rooms. Huge, modern bathroom, Separate: glass shower, beautiful large bathtub, modern low flow toilet, beautiful alcove at entrance, nice sized balcony and the view of the water and hotel landscape with flowers, waterfall... A pet bed, bowls and dog treat, very thoughtful and considerate. Free, safe, parking. Great location. Staff was very friendly. Being unable to accommodate an extra 30 or 60 minute check out, left a bad taste in my mouth. 3.5/5 My Main Issues: Beds, Food and Checkout! At $330/night, I expected that little bit more. Read less

We stayed at the Inn at Laurel Point for two nights so I could attend business meetings in the hotel’s conference facilities. I booked directly with the hotel three weeks in advance, securing the government rate for a standard king room in the Laurel wing. While the rate quoted in the hotel’s emailed booking confirmation was $159/nt, the actual rate charged was $119 plus 17% for the four different taxes. I also thought I had been upgraded to a harbour view on check-in, but the confirmation indicates the room I booked was a harbour view. I thought I had picked the cheapest room available, so maybe they upgraded me on reservation. As the property isn’t in the inner harbour core, the parking cost seemed a bit high at $17 (plus 5% tax). Parking in the area didn’t seem to be at a premium, but perhaps there were street parking restrictions that I didn’t notice. Given the great room rate, I wasn’t complaining about the parking cost. The room was a bit larger than average and was quite comfortable. The curtains closed well enough to keep the room dark in the morning. There was a small balcony and a desk that was functional for work purposes. The included wi-fi was okay, although we did have some minor issues with it. One big bonus was the recordable TV system. I think they were on Telus Optik which provided the ability to record shows and even pause live TV (which we did one night to go out and bring back some dinner). This is the one home amenity that I really miss when travelling and have never come across it before. All staff were very friendly and there was always someone in the lobby to open the main door for us, although it sometimes seemed a bit weird. Either there was someone standing around a very quiet lobby whose job it was to wait for someone to open the door for, or someone would see us coming and scurry out from behind the front desk to open the door. While I appreciate the effort, unless I’m weighed down by bags on both arms and both shoulders, I can probably get the door myself. The oddest thing came at lunch time on day one when I discovered that they did not offer room service during the day. Lunch was not provided at my meeting but I had some work I had to do during the noon break. I had hoped to simply order room service and work in my room, but discovered that there was no room service. The hotel is a healthy walk from the inner harbour core with no fast food nearby. I managed to find a solution that didn’t involve going hungry, but it was much less than ideal. I have never stayed in a full-service hotel (with restaurants and banquet facilities) that did not offer daytime room service. The other minor issue was that I wasn’t able to secure a late check-out on my last day. Other than our meeting, the hotel seemed very quiet. I appreciate they need to service all the rooms and they indicated they were full the next day. It just would have been nice if they could have arranged their housekeeping schedule to do our room later rather than first in the rotation. I would definitely stay at the Laurel Point again. The Optic TV almost brought it up to a perfect score. Read less
