want to give a balanced review of this hotel, as it was far from all bad. However, the bottom line is that it should have closed for renovation work to be complete. If it were part of a bigger group I am sure it would have closed, because at present it is half a hotel. The key things to be aware of; - There is no bar area. The “restaurant” is basically a converted meeting room, with a very limited menu. - The renovation work is extensive and despite the best efforts of the hotel, will fundamentally impact (not for the better0 your stay. Work starts at 8am. The hotel put earplug in your room, which rather says it all - When we complained about the complete lack of any facilities we we were told that the hotel was being transparent and it was for the travel agents to pass the information on. We booked through Trailfinders and have gone back to them to query this, as we were not told that we were staying in a half operational hotel - If you buy a drink in the restaurant, you need to pay by credit card, as there central payment system does not work - The reception desk is basically- a desk- and is about as inviting as a prison visit On the positive - When finished it will I am sure be great. Really nice location and views - The poor staff were making the most of it and were keen to help - When we complained about our initial room (in the older wing of the hotel and pretty rubbish and right above the building work) we were at leats moved to a better room (333…which I can recommend) Much as I get the need for some money to keep coming in whilst the renovation happens, the hotel really should be closed. Or they should be way more transparent on just how disruptive the changes are. I just had a quick look at the website and you really would have no idea how bad an impact the “renewal” is having. Stay away until they re-open would be my balanced advice. Read less

The staff is incredibly friendly, the room was very clean and had a beautiful view of the harbour. We loved our stay in this inn and would definitely recommend staying here. They were in the midst of renovations both to the interior and exterior of the inn while we were here, but they did a superb job of making everything easy to access. Read less

This was our first time visiting the west coast. We were extremely excited about coming to Victoria and this hotel with only one day while here and to celebrate my sons birthday. We wanted a nice hotel somewhere like all the other ones we have booked on this trip where we could sit back and relax and as we entered the hotel to the tiny small checkin desk I knew this was a huge mistake. Like some other reviews said there is only a room no lobby no bar no restaurant most importantly also no customer service all they want is premium dollars for their rooms which by the way aren’t all that they are old and need major updates. They still have the box ventilation system (no modern hotel has that) that’s over 30-40 years old.. Don’t let the pictures fool you. Like another review mentioned it’s a maze to get to your room Fun!!And another review mentioned pillows, pillows are not comfortable they could not find us two normal pillows for the sofa bed. I got two half size pillows thanks all I need after a days travel to get here. Do your research their are other actual nice hotels in the area The Delta Marriott ( they value their customers), Hotel empress just to name a few. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Customer care is extremely important to us anywhere we go. This place does not care they are independently run have not reached hotel status yet need major upgrades to get their someday maybe....they don’t want to do anything for customers that are not happy all they want is your money. This is one of the first reviews I have written I felt I needed to write to let others know before they decide to book here. Think twice Not worth it!!! Read less

My wife and I chose this hotel because we were assured it had a superb location. Were informed that there was work being carried out on the coast line near the hotel which had resulted in the hotel moving their reception to the other side of the building for the convenience of their guests. We were informed that as we were visiting at the weekend no work would be getting done so it would be quiet. That information was true but were not informed that there was work being carried out to the interior of the hotel which meant that was no sitting areas, no bar and as there was a wedding on the Saturday we couldn’t even get breakfast. I would recommend that this hotel should be avoided until all this work has been fully completed. Read less

We booked the hotel to have a relaxing start to a trip of a lifetime with some R&R after flying from the uk. Extremely dussapointed to be told there was no dining (not even the temp one that was promised), no bar, no lounge area and no external areas, just a bed in a room. We paid full price and our comments in a fully documented letter have been disregarded by the hotel. A gentleman one evening upon checkin said to the staff "all i want is a drink and a meal, and you cant do that" and it was raining very hard at the time making it difficult to go else where. I am disappointed in the hotel as they seem to have forgotten they have paying guests and it does matter to those guests the expeience they have at that moment, not the ones who may visit in 12months time when the works are complete. Very poor management expereience. Read less
