I have loved staying here over the years, in fact one of my favourite hotel/spas in BC, and always look forward to it! This time I was BEYOND disappointed, the level of service was HORRENDOUS! I asked the first night if we could extend our stay and was told absolutely just may have to change rooms, and wouldn’t match the booking.com rates, fair enough I guess. In the morning, I asked again if we need to move and was told no, they had no one going into the room, we were good to stay. We went to the diner for breakfast and halfway through our incredibly bland breakfast (really not great food there I suggest going to town to eat) we were interrupted to say we DO have to move and to a specific room number. Ok fine, could that have waited until after breakfast? After 15 minutes of waiting for our waitress so we can pay and leave, and taking not of the little elderly gentleman who was patiently waiting to be seated for equally as long, I had to go find the waitress in the kitchen gabbing away with the other waitress, and asked if she would mind tending to her patrons, hello?! Seeing our not even half eaten food, not a word about how anything tasted, etc, cest la vie. Then I go to the Spa, where I had booked a deep tissue massage and specified a male masseuse, booked in weeks in advance. I man and a woman walk out to greet myself and another customer, except for the man wasn’t for me, instead I was greeted by a tiny little woman. I expressed my disappointment and they quickly switched places, however cut my massage from 60-45 minutes! Upon the return to my room we get a call from the front desk that they gave us the wrong room again and now we are to move to a different room at more than $100 additional to the room we had been quoted. I had to get into discussion with the clerk about what we were promised and was finally given the right price, however the room was half the size and still a good $100 more than the room we were in... bad form! We had a dip in the pools and then left the spa. On the way out I grabbed some face lotion and charged it back to the room. We packed up and headed to check out. I explained all of the issues to the manager on duty, and was offered a complimentary upgrade next time, big whoop, but at least maybe they will provide the necessary coaching to the staff. Then, after leaving, the issues just kept going!!! First they billed a business associates credit card for some of my Spa, as she had originally used her card to secure our bookings, and then couldn’t make it. I had called once and asked them to remove the card and was told “not to worry, nothing has been charged on it”. I then reiterated and explicitly told them to remove the card when I arrived at the spa. How embarrassing to have my associate call me and ask why I was charging stuff to her credit card!!! I called and asked for a call from the hotel manager... instead a received an email from the spa that they had removed the charge from my associates card and moved to mine, completely ignoring my request for a manager to call... I emailed back a response to have the manager call me, and ended up having to call myself. Received a call from a manager who left me a message and then went on vacation (might want to note that I’m your vm and direct me to who yo talk to when I call back!) I left it thinking I would deal with it later. Then! Going to submit my corporate expenses and see that I’ve been double charged for both nights! It takes a week, and several phone calls, to get a response. When I finally do I’m met with nothing but argument around what I was charged!!! I can see it right on my credit card statement what I was charged, how they cannot see it on their end is beyond me. Honestly, I will never stay there again, what a joke. Will just charge it back with MC I suppose but buyers beware!!! Read less

The pet friendly room was beautiful as was the ocean view from the garden level room. I could step out onto my sunny patio which had direct access to the lawn and walkways leading to the spa and ocean front mineral pools. As usual, I experienced great food and an enjoyable visit with friends in the Snug. A delightful hotel. The atmosphere combined with the pleasant and accommodating staff make this one of my favourite places for a getaway. Situated in a quiet neighbourhood of Victoria with the quaint village of Oak Bay Village only a few blocks away. Read less

Luxurious hotel and 5-star service all around. We found a small path down to a private beach next to the resort that was perfect for a romantic sunset and beachcombing. Sean the bellman and the concierge (forgot his name) were both amazing.

Perfect hotel for a relaxing get away! Our first stay at this charming hotel did not disappoint and is now our first choice in Victoria. The hotel has everything we needed for a peaceful, restful holiday in quiet luxury. Aside from the genuinely friendly staff and exceptional service, what we loved most about the the hotel is its serene waterfront location in city's nicest neighbourhood - Oak Bay. Out the front door is a scenic seaside path for lengthy strolls going north and nearby is the Dallas Rd seaside path for strolls heading west toward Mile 0. For a more authentic local experience, there's the delightful Oak Bay Village within strolling distance (~15 minutes) of the hotel or a free shuttle from the hotel. We were perfectly happy to stay away from the maddening crowds in the touristy zones of Downtown Victoria. Having said that, the hotel is only 15 minutes away by car (and an easy 25 min by public bus for $2.50 pp) when we ventured to the centre. Our suite was well appointed, spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a 'Partial Ocean View King with a Kitchenette', facing south for oodles of sunshine. The bathroom was surprisingly large - huge separate shower with great water pressure, separate toilet, and a dreamy soaker tub accompanied by mineral salts. We were also impressed by the nice robes, slippers, laptop-sized safe, Culti toiletries, and having the convenience of a well stocked kitchenette. The free wifi worked well but there were some spotty cell reception in parts of the hotel. We rested and slept very well at this hotel. Naturally, the seaside mineral pools added to our enjoyment at the hotel. There's sufficient outdoor seating areas for warm weather. Whilst the inside spa looks nice, it's too small - tiny sitting area and equally tiny steam room that is not hot enough. The massage was fine but felt it was overpriced. More Perks: free parking and free pickup/drop off to/from downtown (specifically at the Black Ball Ferry terminal) in a sleek SUV (fits 4 people). We're looking forward to many more stays in the future. Read less
