This hotel is such a special place, beyond compare from the usual stays to be found in the Victoria area. The extraordinary ambience, exemplary service, friendly and helpful staff, numerous amenities, and excellent restaurants all combine with the fabulous location and views to create a wonderful experience for guests. We have stayed here a number of times, in various suites (most of the rooms are too spacious and lovely to be called "rooms"). This past weekend we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a gorgeous boutique suite, complete with balcony overlooking the lovely grounds, mineral pools, and ocean. If you have the chance to book one of these boutique suites, DO IT! We enjoyed two delicious brunches and one casual dinner at the Snug pub/restaurant, each time sitting at a table on the deck, enjoying the spectacular view. In past stays here, we've enjoyed wonderful dinners the more formal dining room. I particularly enjoy the way this hotel is set apart from the hustle and bustle and craziness of downtown Victoria (especially in the summer tourist season), only a short drive downtown along a spectacular seaside route, but nestled in the best area of Victoria. There are so many lovely walks nearby, and charming Oak Bay village is close at hand. We will be back! Read less

If you are looking for shops and eating places within walking distance you may want to stay closer to the inner harbour. The hotel does offer a car service for a small fee. We have teenagers the hotel does require you to be 16 for outside pools. If I had younger kids I probably wouldn’t stay here. With older kids it’s perfectly fine. Read less

From the moment we arrived until we checked out we were treating very well. The staff took care of all of our needs, including our teenager and 20+. The Spa and pool area is top notch and the views from our room were spectacular. Concierge service is impeccable. Put on your must see/do list. Thanks, we'll be back.

I love this hotel. It caters to adults at the spa and pools. The dining is wonderful and the location is so beautiful overlooking the ocean. I stay here whenever I am in town. Service is excellent and the rooms are spacious and elegantly appointed.

We've stayed at this hotel a handful of times over the last 4 years. The hotel location and views can't be beat, of course. Victoria, and specifically Oak Bay, is a beautiful community and worth a visit. The rooms are nice, fairly standard (though we've only ever stayed in the regular rooms). The food is, in my opinion, overpriced for what you get, though there are a couple things on the menu that kept us happy (our kids loved the crispy chicken strips and yam fries, and they were fairly priced). However, the big draw for us was always the beautiful heated pools. SO so special. Nothing like swimming in a warm pool, right on the ocean, on a chilly winter evening. Unfortunately, on multiple visits, our children were "shushed" in the pool, despite interacting with normal human volume (and many adults being noticeably louder and more boisterous). Although those few occasions did leave a somewhat foul taste our mouths, we kept going back given how much our kids loved it there. Unfortunately, now that they no longer allow children in the pools or hot tubs AT ALL, we won't be going back. I'm convinced that they could have reached some kind of a compromise so that families would still feel welcome (for instance, couldn't they choose a few days a week to provide "family hours" and welcome children during those times - perhaps during less popular spa times so that that their spa business is not affected?). They generously provide passes to the local rec centre, which is actually laughable to me - not exactly the 5 star hotel experience. On top of that, the only other reason for us stopping by would be the restaurant (we're local), but, alas, our children's beloved chicken strips have recently been removed from the menu. Perhaps once our kids are 16+, and their tastes have evolved from chicken strips, we will return. Bottom line: as an adult-oriented hotel, it's fairly standard, with the exception of the beautiful mineral pools and views. For anyone with young family - don't even bother. Read less
