We stayed at JW Marriott Parq Hotel for 2 nights and as always Marriott does not disappoint. Check-in- Right as you enter the front door of the hotel, the check in counters are tucked away at the back. Staff was professional and helped us check in promptly. Rooms: We booked the King Bed Guest room with water views. I absolutely loved the neutral beige colour tones of the room. We got a view of Science World,it was absolutely spectacular. There was a lounge chair by the window so you can lay down and enjoy the views. Other Services: Room Service: We ordered breakfast room service and I believe the food comes from the Honey Salt (their restaurant downstairs). The food was delicious; highly recommend their waffles! Spa: The Spa experience was very enjoyable. Staff was professional and friendly. I loved the waiting/relaxing area you can enjoy before and after your treatments. The comfy bed/chairs oversees the Vancouver downtown views. Restaurants: They have a good selection of casual dining and fine dining within their Casino/Hotel. If you like a good piece of steak definitely try Victors. If you prefer casual dining, Honey Salt is for you. Pros - 5 minute walk to False Creek seawall. Perfect for a nice walk in the afternoons or a stroll after dinner. - 5 minute walk to BC Place - 10 minute walk to Yaletown - 15 minute walk to Pacific Centre/ Central Downtown - 20 minute walk to Science World Overall, our stay was very enjoyable. The price of the hotel is quite steep given this is a higher end Marriott. Whether you are visiting from out of town, or doing a staycation like us, I would definitely recommend booking this hotel. Hotel is rather new and in a good location. Maybe not as downtown as many others but its just a short stroll away and in a neighbourhood with many restaurants and cafe’s around. Decoration of hotel is nice, there is actually a casino in between the hotel and the Douglas. Not my thing but seemed well visited at all times. Reception staffed with friendly and helpful staff and likewise was the concierge. I can understand some people feel the reception area and corridor leading to the elevators are a bit simple but it does the job. I booked a Corner suite (room 1201.) and it is a nice room with plenty of view around. My advise is, try to get higher so that there is no obstruction towards the back side (city) as in my case the stadion was blocking it. Speaking of the stadium. Be aware, Saturday evening was a game night and it was loud & bright…..So if you are jet lagged you might find it a bother. The room was well appointed with cosy coach and seats. The bedroom was with large windows too, the closet a bit on the small side and the room lacked drawers to store in my view. But if alone it should be ok. The bed was fabulous but thats a different matter for everyone. The mini bar was well stocked, the supplied sufficient bottles of water and a good espresso machine. Besides the stadion I have one ‘issue’ in my room. As soon as lunch/dinner time started the room and corridor near my room started to smell like kitchen/deepfry & food…..not so nice. One weekend day the weather was brilliant and I went up to the roof where they have a nice Gym and a brilliant terrance with lazy beds and lounge seating as well as a Jacuzzi. Of course being high up it has a very good view of the surroundings. Very nice facility! Last but not least I had club access. Breakfast was fine but no eggs to order, Afternoon plenty of stuff to nibble and eat together with a large choice of beverages. What really struck me with the club was that each and every one working there was extremely friendly, smiled all the time and was constantly eager to serve you. And knew your name after the first day, wauw! I like to extend a compliment to the ladies and men working there as this is something that stands out of the many hotels I been too. The only matter I liked less was that the music was a bit loud for my taste and consider the fact that i do to have good hearing… Have been to several hotels in Vancouver and as this is a new one it stands out of the many hotels showing its age. So, in my opinion a good choice. Read less

My husband and I stayed here with another couple overnight for my birthday and had a wonderful time. We used the valet parking and were greeted by Waalaa who was friendly helpful, and prompt. Check in was easy. We were upgraded to a suite which was not ready yet so we put all of our stuff in our friend's room while we went to lunch. The wait for Honey Salt was 25-35 minutes so we decided to take the water taxi to Granville Island. The water taxi is right across the street which is convenient. When we returned to the room we were greeted by a small birthday cake and card from the staff. It was a lovely surprise and a delicious cake. My friend and I decided last-minute to have our makeup done before dinner and the spa was able to squeeze us in immediately. What a beautiful spa! The view is great on the 17th floor and the whole spa is marble. The makeup artist did a wonderful job and made us feel special. After the makeup refresh we went for drinks at the Center Bar in the casino. The bartender Rory took care of us really well and was a pleasure to talk to. The casino is clean and smoke-free (a nice break from the smokey casinos in the US). We had also decided last-minute to eat at the Victor so the earliest reservation was 9:45pm. We decided to head up early to see if there was a cancellation and they were able to get us in at 8pm. What a wonderful resturant! They treated us like royalty and kept the food and drinks coming. Our waiter, Mitchell, was attentive and informative and I was treated to not one, but TWO birthday cakes with sparklers at the end! The restaurant is loud but not overwhelming. They have comfortable seating (we had a couch) and enough light to see the menus. Very pricey but worth it. Breakfast was at the Honey Salt and not as impressive. It was a little overpriced ($11 for a fruit plate) and not many options. However, the food itself was good. Checkout was a breeze. Only minor complaint is that you have to go to the parking garage to get your car, the valet doesn't bring it up. Total 1st World Problem, but thought it would be nice to have it waiting out front. Overall, a fantastic hotel with courteous staff and excellent services. I felt important and valued as a customer. We will definitely return, hopefully annually as this was a memorable birthday weekend. Read less

Check-in: Upon arriving and walking into the lobby, i was disappointed by how cramped and uninspiring the lobby it was for JW standards. At least the check-in easy and friendly. Room: We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite. Our room faced the stadium which wasn't much a view at all and at night it was kind of bright. Our curtains was left closed. I would imagine the room being very noisy if there was events happening next door. The room itself was pretty good. Hotel: Honey Salt had a decent brunch, the casino attracts a lot of shady characters (homeless, non-classy women dressed in scantily clad outfits) hanging around outside entrance. Where's security? It definitely didn't feel like vibe of 5 star hotel more like a cheap suburban casino resort. Read less
