Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

Standing out with discreet yet decadent touches, Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver feels deliciously different. It’s architectural drama like the curved glass wall sweeping over the heated indoor pool and hot tub. It’s details like the Juliet balcony, luxurious linen, and free WiFi in your deluxe guestroom. It’s unusual extras like the squash court, which pair with essentials like the fitness centre. It’s the divine dining and wine list of Diva at the Met. When you want to explore a little further, you’re just two minutes’ walk from the SkyTrain – that’s if you don’t get distracted by the Pacific Centre mall opposite this downtown hotel.

We stayed 4 nights here after arriving in Vancouver from an Alaskan cruise. Our room was a good size and a balcony that you could sit comfortably on. The down side of that was we were on the 4th floor but we were ok with that. It had a fridge, coffee machine and as we are Brits, a kettle !! Bathroom had bath and separate shower and again was a good size. We arrived early and, to our delight, the reception staff found us a room immediately which allowed us to drop the luggage and then go out. The staff generally were very good and wanted to help if there was anything that you needed. My only issue - and I have already said in the review that the hotel asked me for following our stay - was the WiFi. Got my phone connected but had problems with the 2nd device and ended up spending time on the phone with their IT support to get it sorted. From listening to some other guests, they were having IT problems as well. The hotel really need to get this sorted quickly before it impacts on guests even more than it did us. Other than that, staff were excellent, location is ideal for shops, hop-on - hop-off bus, restaurants and if we were to return to Vancouver i would certainly stay again Read less

As Vancouver hotels are so expensive, we used Marriott points to stay in the Metropolitan Hotel. Our room was spacious and included a typical luxury hotel bed and bathroom with both shower and bathtub. Many hotel beds are too soft for me and this bed was firm enough but just barely. Our room was spacious and included a typical luxury hotel bed and bathroom with both shower and bathtub. Many hotel beds are too soft for me and this bed was firm enough but just barely. The elevators were quick. The desk staff was nice. They have lemon water or coffee in the lobby depending on the time of day. The hotel is wonderfully located across the street from the Pacific Center and many other stores in that same direction. I would happily stay at this hotel again. Read less

Hot tub under repair, sports courts no longer available, grumpy breakfast staff, room not available at check in time. All really poorly managed, just lots of "Sorry," and dejected staff who don't have the tools or training to do their jobs.

It is true that a room in Vancouver is expensive but in Metropolitan it is expensive and the quality very low. Our room was so old that the smell inside was unbearable (urine? Vomit?)! They give us another room as old but no smell in this one. The rooms were not neat at all and all the hotel looks decrepit. Bed are small. You have to pay +7cad to… Read more

You have to pay +7cad to have internet in room (who does that anymore ???) breakfast will cost around 25cad. The elevator make funny noise and two buttons are always lighted: again so so old Read less

Good location to main shops with a shopping centre across the street and gastown and the cruise terminal are a 5 min walk away. Room was clean and spacious but could do with new curtains as they made the room look a bit dated. The lifts are very slow. There is 2 lifts but you could be waiting 15 mins for a lift and at one stage only one lift was in operation. Staff were very friendly and Sabrina at the desk was very helpful when I asked about how to get my boarding pass printed. Read less
