Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

Those who know the Shangri-La name often refuse to stay anywhere else — and it’s clear why when you check in to its Vancouver edition and step into your glamourous room, with its latte and champagne-gold shades, floor-to-ceiling windows, and Asian accents. Encircled by Downtown, Coal Harbour and West End, Shangri-La Vancouver calls some of the city’s finest drinking and dining establishments neighbours. But it holds its own with MARKET by Jean-Georges, whose elegant menus are led by the Michelin three star chef. As you feast on dishes like Black Truffle Pizza and Soy-Glazed Beef Short Ribs, you can gaze at downtown Vancouver from its heated terrace or through its full-height windows. Self-indulgence isn’t the same as over-indulgence though, and they nurture you at CHI, The Spa; their outdoor pool and whirlpool; and Ginger Juice Bar, with its healthy blends and bites.

Here’s my quick review of my stay at @shangrila_van & @shangrilahotels for a night. Shangri-La a well stablished hotel and one of the luxurious hotels worldwide. Shangri-La Vancouver hotel for me does not feel luxurious for the price you pay. There are two entrances. There’s the “lobby” entrance facing Thurlow St while the concierge facing the elevator. No one is there standing by the elevator to open it for you. Something like you see in some luxury hotels. Even by the Lobby entrance no one is there to open the door for you. Then there’s the LL under ground entrance lobby. It is quite confusing especially for a first timer like myself. The service was good but there is something missing. My favourite and the highlight of it all? The room was very clean, Thank you to the cleaners for doing an amazing job and keeping the room tidy. I’ll be honest here. Would I comeback? Probably not anytime soon. Let me be clear, I am not paid by anyone to do this review. ♡Marvin #myshangrila #shangrila #shangrilahotels #shangrilavan #hotel #luxurylifestyle #luxuryhotel #blessed #travel #travelblogger #blogger #bloggerlife #fivestarhotel #spoiled #hotel #hotelroom #tripadvisor #anniversary Read less

I stayed at the Shangri La Vancouver with a small group, over 5 rooms. The standout of this property were the staff. Everyone from reception to concierge to the restaurant team were excellent. As a group we had a few ‘requests’ that were smoothly managed and always delivered on. The Virtuoso amenity of USD100 hotel credit was spent having dinner at the outstanding restaurant (Market by Jean-Georges). Wow - this one certainly shines as a hotel restaurant that is a destination in itself! Clearly not just for hotel guests, it was obvious that locals had discovered this place as well. The hotel is on the lower floors of the tallest building in Vancouver - so don’t get any ideas that you’ll have expansive view over the harbour or anything! But the balconies are pleasant and the location is excellent. The shape of the building leads itself to having different shaped rooms, so if you have specific preferences, then room selection could be important. An excellent hotel operation and a great experience. Highly recommended. Read less

The hotel is stunning, well located and awesome in every way. The staff as always, take service to another level, the small details matter and are very much appreciated. The Shangri-La remains our go-to hotel, as always thank you looking after us so very well.

Stayed one night for a quick romantic weekend get away. We normally stay at The Four Seasons Brand properties but decided to give this a try. We are glad we did and found this particular property to be a nice experience. We walked to the shops that are all around the hotel while leaving our vehicle parked in their garage the entire time. Check in was easy and in the garage level after valeting the car. I did not care for the STRONG perfume smell in this area and in the hotel in general but service was great. We ate three times at Jean-Georges in the hotel (breakfast twice and dinner once) and all the meals were great in terms of food and service. The actual room was very nice - we had a executive balcony king room and found it to be very spacious and very well appointed. We liked the large bathroom, shower and dual sinks the most. The bed was soft and wonderful and they have a menu for pillow choices. All in all this was an excellent stay with excellent service and we booked direct with their website. Read less
