Okay...wow. I stay at a lot of hotels for government travel. The young asian lady at the front desk was so haughty! She placed my roommate's card with a 500+ authorization fee until I arrived with the card the room was booked with. Upon my arrival she proceeds to place the authorization on my credit card for the whole 2 room night fee at 700+. Why the difference in authorization amounts between the two guests checking in? Hmmm. So...there's check in and I was wondering how the process would be considering I read similar experiences to mine. Then we get to the room - we were in room 1855. It was a comfortable room with a separate bedroom and balcony. Although, I have to say that the finishing of the unit is poor. I look at every nook and cranny and really Sutton? I've stayed in many hotels for much less nightly rate and finer finishing in the unit. Consumers at least what to feel their dollars spent offer value and experience. Also, my roommate found a dark hair left in the shower that ended up on his freshly opened bar of soap - gross! Now check-out! Prior to my trip I emailed reservations to inquire on the rooms. I ended up requesting a suite with a balcony. Upon trying to pay for my room the same front desk agent (as above) said that my upgrade for the balcony would be 80.00/night! What a joke! First of all, so not worth that. Second of all, I had been quoted a different rate in an my email to reservations. The front desk agent argued with me and said I had to show her the email with the rate from reservations. I did that. She then asked to see proof of my response to reservations confirming the rate and upgrade! I did that as well, and only then did she honour the rate quoted to me. What a hassle!!! Now to be fair, I will note one final info piece. After we checked out my roommate realized he forgot his watch. He immediately called front desk and he is not sure who took the call, but she was very pleasant and helpful. She took the information and ended up calling back saying she found the watch and took more information to courier the watch. So...to whomever that helpful person was - thank you. Read less

The Sutton Place Hotel is quite glamorous in a sort of old-fashioned way. Dark wood furniture, big rooms, staff in livery. Service is excellent. It seemed my room had not been vacuumed very carefully but otherwise very clean. Coffee maker with good strong pods was much appreciated. We have stayed here many times. The location is amazing. Close enough to take the train from the airport. A great home while in town. Ten minute walk to convention centre and less than 15 minute walk to Stanley Park.

This is the self-park price in the hotel’s basement garage. Parking is very tight in central downtown Vancouver, where this hotel is located. There are a lot of commercial parking garages along the streets in that area. From my small sampling, their full-day prices are substantially lower than this hotel’s price. But I found that some of those… Read more

There are a lot of commercial parking garages along the streets in that area. From my small sampling, their full-day prices are substantially lower than this hotel’s price. But I found that some of those private garages are pretty small and fill up fast, so they may not provide an alternative to the hotel’s parking. Read less

I love the Sutton place hotel in Vancouver. I have been staying here for over 15yrs of travelling every 60/90 days. The service and location are bar none.
