The Westin Grand Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

The very definition of ‘urban chic’, after a mega-makeover Westin Grand Vancouver’s look matches its feel. It has that subtle sophistication you’d expect from a Westin, oozing city style with chocolate, latte and caramel tones. If the décor leaves you a little peckish, the swanky new Hendricks Resto-Lounge presents a ‘remixed’ fusion of contemporary and classic tastes, extending from its cuisine to its cocktails. Overlooking Library Square on Robson Street, Hendricks turns into a live lounge three nights a week, hosting DJs and musicians, while its Pop Up Patio adds extra buzz and bites like ceviche, sliders, and sushi rolls. With all those tempting treats at your fingertips, you’ll be thankful for the heated outdoor pool, whirlpool, and gym — although you could just work off the pounds ‘shopping till you drop’ — after all, you are on Vancouver’s most famous shopping street.

We recently spent 5 nights in a suite at the hotel. It is a nice hotel, but not a grand hotel in the tradition of Great Canadian hotels. Everything works, the room is clean and well furnished and the facilities are nice, but it lacks grandeur. Maybe that is the way that they want it. Maybe they need a new name. BTW. Our rate included… Read more

Our rate included breakfast and the wait staff in the small restaurant is excellent, friendly and worth commending. Read less

The breakfasts at Hendrick's were delicious. This is a superb location - short trips to nearby metro stations and to great shopping around the Vancouver Art Gallery. I would not hesitate to book there again. Read less

The Westin was a perfect home base for our trip to Vancouver. Our top floor suite had an amazing view of BC Place and the False Creek, and the room's decor was gorgeous. The floor to ceiling windows made it feel like we were living in the clouds. Being an urban hotel, the rooms and common spaces are not massive, but the pool deck is very well-sized and has plenty of seating. The gym is well appointed too. We enjoyed the continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant and it looked lively in the evenings as well. Since there isn't Uber in Vanouver yet (at least at the time of this writing) it was incredibly helpful to have the cab station in the lobby. We were able to walk to a lot of places nearby though, so didn't need many cabs. Read less

Stayed for 9 days on a business trip; hotel was very clean, room well organised and maintained. Great 24hr gym. Dining in options are limited but surrounded by great restaurants. Exceptionally friendly staff in bar, concierge and reception. Be aware there are limited places to gather in the lobby if you are thinking of meetingnup there.

I spent a week here at an already high price, only to find out a day later that I’d been charged almost two thousand dollars again. When asking reception about the charge on my credit card, I was told that they hadn’t made any charges to my card. I then immediately contacted my bank and had my card cancelled. A day later it was confirmed by my bank that the additional charge was made by the Westin Grand and it took over two weeks for the funds to be returned. Despite their lack of concern for their customers holiday funds, the hotel in itself is below average for the hefty price you pay. The rooms are small and stuffy, staff are incompetent and unhelpful, room service is bland with a high price, free toiletries are cheap and nasty and cleaning is rushed and below standard. Seriously disappointed and unhappy with the poor ammenities and customer service provided. Read less
