Villa Eyrie Resort

Malahat, Vancouver Island

The hotel

Giving you a fresh outlook on Vancouver Island (quite literally), this mountainside hideaway creeps up towards Malahat’s summit to reveal coast and mountain views from its perch 1,880 feet above sea level — and yet it’s still just half an hour from Victoria. Covering 95 acres near wineries and Goldstream Provincial Park, it may have been inspired by Italy from its architecture to its menus, but it’s still completely in tune with its stunning Canadian surroundings, with farm-to-fork food at Summit Restaurant, island-sourced ingredients in Tuscan Spa, and views of Saanich Inlet through the floor-to-ceiling windows fringing its mineral-rich saltwater pool. Even its bar mixes Italy’s love of racing with the local influence of Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit, with its Driver’s Lounge rich in nostalgia from its crackling fire to its vinyl record soundtrack.

Stayed this week and had a wonderful time. Two Queen suite great for two friends. Comfortable and elegant room. The layout of the rooms in the part we chose had individual entries and staggered staircases. Great access to the dining on outside pathways and stairs.

We went with another couple, for the weekend, to celebrate my birthday. We arrived in our room with a bottle of white wine, wishing me a happy birthday, very nice touch. The room was a standard room, but the view was phenomenal. We had views of Finlayson Arm and the Olympic Mountains. It was a quiet room, on the main floor.

My girlfriend was supposed to celebrate her 60th birthday on a cruise however due to COVID that wasn't going to happen. A customer of mine recommended Villa Eyrie. I had never heard of it as I live on the mainland and usually only visit Victoria or Nanaimo on the Island. I am so glad he did. We booked two rooms and along with our husbands off we went to the Island. We arrived on a rainy friday night so we didn't appreciate the views until we woke up to a sunny Saturday morning. We stayed in room 112 and the panoramic views were stunning. The room itself was also very nice and spacious. The bathrooms lovely and so great to have a makeup mirror attached to the wall. The bed was so comfortable as were the robes. Sitting outside in my robe with the view and sunshine was perfect. I love the fact they put binoculors out so you can look for eagles. They also have lots of outdoor decks and a pool however we didn't use these two options as we were busy sightseeing the whole weekend. We only stayed 2 nights but we hope to return again and stay longer. We celebrated my friends birthday dinner at the Alpina Restaurant in the resort and it was fabulous. I know it wasn't a cruise but my friends was very happy to be able to celebrate her birthday at Villa Eyrie. Read less

We had plans to be married in Italy on 22sept20 but Covid changed all that. We decided to not let the pandemic dampen our plans and began looking for "the perfect place" to tie the knot. We found the most beautiful spot at Villa Eyrie...where mountains meet water ❤ The resort welcomed us and our two furbabies with a beautiful dog friendly suite...doggie beds and bowls awaited us. They thought of everything to make our day extra special. We had travelled all the way from Ontario in an RV and they made sure we had electricity to keep the fridge going. The meals (every single one) were incredible and the view....absolutely breathtaking!! The wedding took place at Villa Cielo and we were fortunate to have beautiful weather!! I want to give a big shout out to my girl Eva Cheng who took care of all the wedding details and made certain everything was perfect❤❤ I will never be able to thank her enough!!! Also a big shout out to Annabelle and Jack who stood as our witnesses. They were so much fun and helpful and just the sweetest people. Annabelle was always available for anything we needed and Jack took great care of us in the restaurant. Service is top notch at this resort. They think of everything to make your stay a memorable one. We would highly recommend Villa Eyrie for any special event. The team work tirelessly to make all your dreams come true. We cannot wait to return to celebrate our anniversary!! Forever grateful Joanne and Marvin Jones 🐾 Dino and Jake 🐾 Sudbury, Ontario Read less

I wanted my parents to celebrate their anniversary and basically just give them a get a way for a night that they could enjoy. My dad speaks/understands English 90% and my mom around 50% + she is a bit shy. They both got stuck in Canada since March because of Covid, they will be back to our home country by the end of this month. I contacted Villa Eyre and explained the above on an email, the results were AMAZING! My parents were sending pictures of all the gorgeous views, stunning food and saying that they were having so much fun. When they came back they explained that on top of the food, views and comfort in the room; the service was THE BEST! Everyone was so kind, one lady that spoke Spanish/English was even translating part of the menu to them; others were pronouncing words better for them to understand or were saying short words in Spanish like “hola” “poquito” “de nada” for them to feel comfortable . I am so grateful for all the love they gave my parent that I will spread the word around of the amazing place Villa Eyre is. GRACIAS! ❤️ Read less
