I had planned to get some work done but could not after my computer died. My CPAP machine would not work. Absolutely nothing worked since even the suite’s kitchen was electric. Management were not sympathetic to the inconvenience. Curiously, the kitchen staff mentioned that power cuts were a regular occurrence and they had learnt to cope and continue serving meals. The lobby staff were also hooked up to a portable generator. After paying $400 a nite to stay at this place for 5 days, I except a lot more including a luxury hotel equipped with the ability to deal with power outages which they should anticipate given their location. Would not stay here again and neither would I recommend the resort. Torino would have been a better option. Read less

We arrived November 18 to find the restaurant closed without notice. Our room was not available until 4:45 leaving us waiting for an hour and a half in the lobby. Lounge also closed. Not what we expect from a high priced hotel. The views are great, but otherwise not impressed. Read less

Stayed at Blackrock for four nights second week of November. We booked a trail studio which contains close to a full kitchen including two burners, a micro wave / traditional oven and a larger sized bar fridge. We were on the second floor of what are essentially four room condo buildings separate from the main hotel. The view from our room was spectacular and was the highlight of our stay. For the best views choose rooms that end in 03 or 04 which should have you on the top floor. The bathroom had a soaker tub and a rainforest shower head and heated tile floors. The bed was a queen and comfortable for a few nights. We brought our dog and the resort really caters to dog owners which we appreciated. We drive a long range electric car and there is one free electric charging station which was helpful. We enjoyed Ucuelet which has lots of great little restaurants and is just a few minutes away by car. We tried the bar food and had breakfast at the hotel and frankly we advise giving it a pass. The food is overpriced and below standard. It the one area the resort really needs to improve. One other comment, we never once noticed anyone in the registration or restaurant area who looked like management. The staff are young and lack a certain polish for an expensive resort, they need someone with experience to monitor service levels. Overall we enjoyed the stay and would recommend the resort. Hoping the dining improves as would have enjoyed a top end meal on one night. Read less

My boyfriend and I stayed at Blackrock Resort during a weekend in October. I would say that our stay was alright, but leading up to our stay was beyond a headache. Also, this resort is a very long drive from Tofino. I do not recommend staying here if majority of your time and nights will be in Tofino.  Overall, I have stayed at several other resorts at Vancouver Island, and do not recommend this resort unless you are in an absolute pinch to book something close to Tofino. The rest is my experience of my stay and booking with resort which is lengthy. Originally, my boyfriend was making the booking and corresponding with reservations, but due to his job he was unable to continue discussions so I picked up from where he left off. The representative that my boyfriend spoke to mentioned an ocean view room, but when I called back this was unavailable. Instead I was offered a partial ocean view suite, but on the same day, a different representative called and left me a voicemail that they have an ocean view suite available. This was extremely confusing since we already went ahead and took the partial ocean view suite. The room booking aside, the worst experience was the spa. My boyfriend managed to hold a booking until end of day, and when I called the spa, the spa representative was extremely rude and short in her answers. I understand due to COVID there are several restrictions, but I was just inquiring since it seemed that this resort was different. The spa representative was extremely rude and ended up hanging up on me abruptly. I ended up calling back and speaking to the Front Desk Supervisor, Jordana, who was extremely apologetic and helpful. She was able to clarify the confusion regarding the room and make the spa booking on our behalf. She did ask what else she can do to make it right, but I did not feel the position was mine to ask for what is needed, instead, something should have been extended to us. I would like to highlight that we did receive complimentary drink vouchers. Read less

Stayed here with a couple friends in a 2 bedroom suite, and was truly amazed at how wonderful this place was. The room was luxurious and had fantastic amenities, including a fully-functional kitchen. The bathrooms included a rainfall shower that made every other shower I've encountered feel like I was being sprayed by a garden hose. Plus the view from our balcony seemed like it was pulled directly from a work of art. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food at the restaurant and bar was delicious. I will definitely be returning and recommending Black Rock to all of my friends and family. Read less
