Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre

Whistler, Canada

The hotel

A contemporary boutique hotel, the Pan Pacific offers luxurious all-suite accommodation with picture windows making the most of magnificent views. Centrally located, it is just a short stroll to the gondolas which provide easy access to over 8,000 acres of ski-able terrain including North America’s steepest vertical drop! Village amenities are also on your doorstep with a great selection of bars and restaurants to tempt you. Highly recommended is a trip to sister hotel, the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside’s Dubh Linn Gate Pub. Built in Ireland, it was transported over to Whistler, piece by piece to provide a cosy evening base with a genuine Celtic atmosphere — tuck into hearty Irish fare and marvel at the impressive list of imported beers — including Guinness of course! Accommodation is very spacious indeed with a fully-equipped kitchen, gas fireplace and flat-screen TV. There’s a complimentary buffet breakfast to get your day off to a great start, an outdoor heated pool to splash about in and massage therapy for tired muscles. If you’re a golf enthusiast, you’re in luck, three championship courses within 2 miles provide a fun alternative to the slopes!

At the base of the mountain, steps away from both gondolas, the PanPacific is an ideal destination to enjoy the Whistler Blackcomb ski resort. Great welcome from an attentive reception staff and the Bell persons, sets the mood nicely for the next few nights in this winter wonderland. We were given notice by reception of hot chocolate available on the outdoor pool and hot tub area, whilst enjoying the Sunday night fireworks and snow aerials show. More a town than a village, with shops, pubs and restaurants for all tastes. There were art galleries and a cinema complex for some quiet and noisy times. The actual gondola up to both mountains was fun to go on and the conditions were superb for our ski turns. The top of Whistler and the food area and rest rooms were a surprise and so happy they were of a high standard, essentially you stay up there all day long. We were very impressed with Apres Ski scene and it was great for all ages to mingle and have fun with music and dancing. The Pan Pacific was our go to after each day, with a ground floor ski locker storage area that was maintained by staff. The Irish pub and speciality shops within the hotel complex made it easy to decide on what to do that day. Room service was wonderful and almost non intrusive and the aforementioned outdoor hot tub and pool area was utilised after a hard days skiing. Location, location, the Pan Pacific has the location, to initiate your Whistler experience. Read less

I came here for a short trip in January. A great location, cosy Canadian style of hotel. Hospitality wasn't short either with help staff all over. The hotel was kind enough to oblige with an early check in which was very much appreciated. Breakfast could be improved, but overall a nice hotel to stay at. I booked a single room suite and there was more than ample space with a nice view overlooking part of the village interior. Everything was within walking distance to shops, restaurants and most importantly the Gondola! Read less

We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) who just spent a heavenly week at the Pan Pacific Village Center (VC) during one of their busiest weeks of the year. I'm so glad I chose it over Mountainside (MS) (reasons below). Note: parking can be expensive at the hotel and we did not need a car; I would recommend hiring a private car to/from Vancouver airport rather than renting/parking. Cost was comparable. Pros: - Central village location close to slopes and restaurants, BUT tucked away from the noise which can be excessive in town and at MS (2-3 min walk from MS to VC) - Your own ski locker at MS: huge perk; drop your skis slopeside in your dedicated locker so you don't need to schlep them to Village Center (note: would be nice if lockers had some hooks to hang helmets) - Free buffet breakfast: eggs, meat, potatoes, pancakes/waffles/french toast, fruit, cereal, pastries/bagels, juice. Not fancy, but perfect to feed the kids before hitting the slopes (not offered at MS) - Cookies/cocoa/cider for the kids during happy hour: needless to say, our kids were happy to partake (not offered at MS) - Service: pretty consistent, friendly and helpful. Bellmen were efficient and timely. Front desk was helpful with questions, requests, etc. Housekeeping did a nice job - Courtesy vehicles: so nice when we wanted to visit friends at a home nearby - The rooms: Strong 4*: beds were comfortable, sheets were soft, towels fluffy, kitchen was adequate with coffee/tea refreshed every day; good shower pressure, 2 bath tubs, fireplace was a nice touch - Pool/hot tub: kids enjoyed though it was very crowded. Robes provided for each person in our party in our room Cons: - No restaurant for lunch (I guess you can go to MS) - One public laundry area with 4 washers/dryers. Laundry room itself was fine, but only open 8am-8pm. PLEASE extend the hours -- after coming off the slopes at 4, grabbing a drink, showering and then going to dinner, the laundry room was always closed when we needed to do laundry - The spa area. The spa check-in, exercise room and entrance to the pool are all in one very small space. It can get very noisy and crowded due to kids running back and forth to the pool. The ladies' locker room desperately needs to be reconfigured as it is an oddly large but poorly designed space. There are no changing rooms and the only changing area (where the lockers are located) is directly in front of the only 2 showers. So when you step out of the shower, dripping wet, you end up in a tiny space where others are changing. There are no benches, etc. to put your clothes/things while changing. No towels or foot towels are provided in the locker room -- I had to walk out to the exercise room to grab one! Would be easy to install some shelves for towels and foot towels. Both showers were out of shower gel Read less
