Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel

Whistler, Canada

The hotel

Summit Lodge is certainly doing something right — after all, happy travellers named it ‘Canada’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel’ at the World Ski Awards three years in a row. That’s partly down to its exclusive location, surrounded by Whistler Village’s après ski restaurant scene — although it holds its own in the dining stakes, with an upscale tapas joint and high-end sushi bar. It ticks off all those luxury ski resort musts too, including a deluxe spa; complimentary WiFi access; private outdoor patio with heated pool and hot tub; swanky suites with cosy fireplaces, soaking tubs, kitchenettes, and balconies with village or forest views; and even free summertime bike rental. But Summit Lodge also has a cheeky side, with fun flashes of hot pink, vivid turquoise, and electric purple giving a mischievous twist to your suite’s otherwise natural and neutral Canadian décor.

The hotel is very close to the centre and easy to walk to everything. Bikes can be hired right outside. Our room was nice and quiet. The bedroom had a fan rather than air conditioning but this wasn't a problem for us. The hotel is quite quirky (in a nice way) and has nice little notes everywhere about the facilities and the things to do. We liked the complimentary cold water and the tea and coffee making facilities and the free snacks at tea time. The pool area is small but was ok for us and only some of the sun beds get the sun, so if you want a tan get there early. The kitchen had a fridge, microwave, sink and a two pan hob and cupboards with pots and pans etc (please invest in non stick pans!). The lounge had a nice comfy sofa and chair. The sofa bed was comfortable. Lots of wardrobe space. All in all good value for money for a stay in Whistler. Staff very friendly and helpful. Read less

Certainly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. Great hotel, clean and spacious room, which made my stay super comfortable. I was greeted with wine and a delicious cake. Details that make the difference. A big thank you to Andrea, Leandro, Laura, Mitsy, Jonas, Marielle and Rocio, amazing people who made this time at the Summit Lodge Hotel a… Read more

We really enjoyed this hotel. The location is excellent and all the staff were very friendly. The room was large and clean. There is a kitchenette which is handy. The hotel has on site parking which is very reasonably priced. Although we didn’t travel with a canine companion, we loved how dog friendly the hotel was! We would stay again.

The hotel is very dog friendly, almost to the point where they seem to be the priority. We stayed one night as part of a tour party. The rooms were huge, wasted on us for an overnight stay and not being huge dog lovers it wouldn't have been our choice. That said the room was very clean and well equiped with a kitchenette. We couldn't have ever made use of it in the few hours we had between check-in and check-out. The was building work happening outside our room although we weren't disturbed. Breakfast was in a room with bench seats and food as a buffet which made getting up and down interesting. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Not quite what we were expecting. It's a boutique hotel for the young.

While the Summit Lodge wasn't quite the luxury hotel we were hoping for, it was young at heart and kind of funky. Dogs were welcome. Bikes were welcome. Cars not so much. Parking, which is limited in an underground garage, was $21 a day. But sometimes there just weren't any open spots; you'd have to wait for someone to leave. The room was… Read more

Parking, which is limited in an underground garage, was $21 a day. But sometimes there just weren't any open spots; you'd have to wait for someone to leave. The room was comfortable although there was no closet per se, just a small armoir. There was a tiny balcony with two chairs where we could watch the world go by out front. There was also a small cooktop, refrigerator and microwave -- none of which we used. Obviously, this place would have a whole different vibe in the winter. Read less
