Fairmont Winnipeg

Winnipeg, Canada

The hotel

When in Winnipeg, the savvy stay at the Fairmont. In fact, royals, rock stars, and heads of state have all checked in here — but it’s ‘well-connected’ in more ways than that. The underground concourse gives easy access to Bell MTS Place for music and sports events, and it’s a stroll from The Forks National Historic Site, with its dining, shopping, and entertainment. Up on the 21st floor, Fairmont Winnipeg rewards you with views over Portage and Main as you work out in its 24-hour health club, and with a relaxing saltwater pool, hot tub, and cedar wood dry sauna. Its eateries are equally ‘rewarding’, whether you’re settling down for cocktails and bar bites at VG Lounge, or tucking into the seasonal Manitoban menu at VG Restaurant, where the locally sourced ingredients include sweet honey from the hotel’s rooftop beehives.

I travel for a living and my Hotel experiences since March of this year have been, luke warm at best, to Completely dismal! What a treat to be greeted with enthusiasm and interest. I had some requests, done, some concerns, sorted! The room was comfortable, the corridors quiet, and the amenities, well chosen. Well done Fairmont! Read less

Stayed Jun 15-17, 2020...mostly because I’ve never stayed and they had a promo of 109.50 a night and the second night free. Parking was to be 14.00 a night so still an amazing deal. Pros: - extremely affordable Cons: - they tried to charge me 21.00 a night for parking till I advised I was quoted 14.00. - room was dirty (see pics) - lamp was… Read more

Pros: - extremely affordable Cons: - they tried to charge me 21.00 a night for parking till I advised I was quoted 14.00. - room was dirty (see pics) - lamp was broken - duvet cover was two sheets folded over the duvet, which caused it to unravel the entire sleep, which is incredibly unhygienic. - shower had to sit on full hot for 5-7 minutes to actually produce any heat - upon check out, she did comp my parking. A lovely gesture, till I received the email and it charged me 219.00 for one night. A far cry from the 109.50 as reserved, so I had to call back to have it adjusted. I would expect better from a hotel that claims to be a boutique establishment. In light of covid still being an issue, I would also expect cleaning procedures to be more thorough than that. Absolutely would NOT recommend to anyone as their regular room rates are ridiculous for the level of service received. The rooms are sad and in need of an upgrade if they plan to continue charging the exorbitant rates they normally do. Read less

I stayed here on a business trip and was actually quite excited to, because I usually book with Delta and they had to relocate my reservation due to renovations. The front desk clerk didn’t explain how the internet works, so I paid for it thinking I had to when I hit the paywall. The air conditioning wasn’t working well, so when I walked into a… Read more

The front desk clerk didn’t explain how the internet works, so I paid for it thinking I had to when I hit the paywall. The air conditioning wasn’t working well, so when I walked into a super hot room upon check in it was disappointing. I then had it set to lowest setting (16) and it took almost 4 hours to make the room comfortable. There was a strange wet spot on the carpet (that stayed wet my entire stay...), and when I went to open chocolate almonds in the room they all had a gross white coating on them from being so old. I then woke up to a really strange and putrid smell in the morning. I couldn’t check out fast enough. The bathroom was nice, I liked the smell of the toiletries. Overall, this felt more like a motel than a luxury hotel. Read less

They feel so special to be greeted at the door by name, and we love being able to collapse into the big comfy bed and put our feet up while they're occupied watching the cars in the window or watching tv in the other part of the suite. And the pool doesn't hurt either! Burger in the lounge is to die for, and I can never wait to get back and have another one! Read less

I stayed at the Fairmont for four days in March for work. I felt very appreciated and taken care of and would definitely recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure. I loved the valet service and the representatives working on this aspect were top notch. The amenities in the room and the rest of staff were also exceptional.
