Fairmont Winnipeg

Winnipeg, Canada

The hotel

When in Winnipeg, the savvy stay at the Fairmont. In fact, royals, rock stars, and heads of state have all checked in here — but it’s ‘well-connected’ in more ways than that. The underground concourse gives easy access to Bell MTS Place for music and sports events, and it’s a stroll from The Forks National Historic Site, with its dining, shopping, and entertainment. Up on the 21st floor, Fairmont Winnipeg rewards you with views over Portage and Main as you work out in its 24-hour health club, and with a relaxing saltwater pool, hot tub, and cedar wood dry sauna. Its eateries are equally ‘rewarding’, whether you’re settling down for cocktails and bar bites at VG Lounge, or tucking into the seasonal Manitoban menu at VG Restaurant, where the locally sourced ingredients include sweet honey from the hotel’s rooftop beehives.

Very nice business hotel, mostly in keeping with the Fairmont standard. However, there were a few misses, such as a rather uncomfortable bed, worn and dated furniture and windows that allow too much street noise into the room. On the positive side, the newly renovated bathroom is very nice and the shower is spectacular. Service is excellent all… Read more

My fiancé took booked a room at the fairmont Winnipeg on the gold floor for my birthday and the hotel was beyond incredible and one of our favourite places to stay. Stayed at the Fairmont in Wpg, when we arrived for check in the computers where down so could not check us in. I had an appointment I needed to be at. Was given a complimentary drink card, which we couldn’t use at the time as needed to get to my appointment. Hotel called when check in was up and running. Was able to get in our room after my appointment. Area to pull up in front of hotel very congested! No place to stop vehicle while checking in. Our room was clean, tub wouldn’t drain, toilet handle would stick so toilet would run, carpet stained. Never mentioned the toilet or tub not draining till check out, and never received an apology or anything. Just an Ok! We decided to attend the lounge after the concert we went to. Lounge was full, so asked the server if we could have drinks just outside the lounge in the chairs just outside the door. She responded with a yes, but don’t know if or when I get to serve you! Needless to say we didn’t stay to not be served. On a good note, the bed was very comfortable. Read less
