Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa

Anguilla, Caribbean

The hotel

Those with a predilection for organic-inspired décor, meditation gardens, and silky sand made for sinking your feet into, will love Zemi Beach House Hotel & Spa – they’re just some of the reasons it was ranked one of Travel + Leisure’s Best Resorts in the Caribbean in 2017. Other highlights that gave it the edge include its swanky seaside suites (with high-tech touches like motion-sensor climate control), infinity edge pools, surfside sports like ocean kayaking and beach boot camps, Anguilla’s only Hammam, children’s club activities like mermaid experiences, and five dining and drinking venues, with an over-spilling rum bar and complimentary beachfront breakfasts. Despite providing all life’s luxuries, this resort still has that ‘castaway in the Caribbean’ feel – thanks to its spot on the white sands of Shoal Bay East and the 300 year old Thai House and yoga deck at its spa.

Six days in March, right before everything started shutting down because of Covid-19, we had a peaceful and restorative vacation here. Our room - upgraded to ocean-front - was spectacular, large, clean and comfortable. The vibe of the entire resort is a lovely blend of Caribbean and Thai, which fits the landscape perfectly. The food is to die for - we barely left the resort when we had planned on trying lots of local restaurants. The beach is nice and wide and long enough for a proper walk, and the pools are luxurious and uncrowded. But the deal-breaker is the people that work there. Everyone greeted us as we passed by, everyone asked if there was anything they could do to help us; but more than that, everyone seemed genuinely interested in us. We got to know the staff by name. We look forward to a future visit! Read less

The hotel is located on Anguilla's prettiest beach and the grounds are verdant and gorgeous. The entire lay-out is especially well-conceived and executed. Lots of thoughtful elements. There are two pools, one for families with children and one for adults without kids. Both are wonderful. The spa at Zemi is located in an amazing wooden house brought by ship from Thailand and re-constructed. Gorgeous! We had the best massages of our lives, and would have gone back for seconds if they weren't so pricey. We enjoyed open-air yoga classes at the spa as well. The breakfast at Zemi is excellent and abundant. It's lovely to sit outside at the restaurant in the morning and watch the birds flying over the water hunting for breakfast themselves. There are several options for lunch and dinner at the hotel, but we also enjoyed other restaurants on the island. All the service at Zemi is top-notch. Everyone was just lovely to us. Read less

Zemi Beach House had everything one could want for a beach vacation during the winter. The beach was beautiful with enough chairs for everyone. Towels were provided and the beach attendant was very helpful. The ocean view rooms were as advertised and had comfortable bedding. I cannot say enough about the staff as they consistently said hello and asked if they could do anything to improve our stay. Many spent a few minutes conversing with our group of 6. The sushi was especially good. Breakfast was a buffet with a large variety and an omelet station. There was a very good restaurant several hundred yards down the beach if you prefer to eat off the resort. Our group of six couples agreed that we would all like to return again. Read less

Staying at Zemi Beach with my family for two weeks was a truly wonderful experience -we all couldn’t recommend it highly enough. We feel like we have so many people to thank - because that’s what makes this place the place it is - the people. We were told constantly that Anguilla was the place to go if we wanted to go somewhere safe with kind and friendly people - there is no way we could have anticipated quite how lovely they were going to be, wherever we were on the Island. We definitely felt this all over the island, but the Goldstein’s, the family of owners of Zemi Beach have found the creme de la creme of those wonderful Anguillans - they told us ‘we employ based on smiles’. We felt this from the time we arrived until the time we left - truly, we felt very very sad to leave and felt very loved and welcomed whilst we were there. A luxurious 5 star experience from start to finish that clearly comes from the top all the way down (working in organisational culture and change - you can feel this every minute there). We have stayed in wonderful hotels all around the world but this was unbeatable - in terms of service, little touches like the home-made biscuits and water delivered along with the bed ‘turn-down’; the chef coming out to meet my various dietary requirements family on our first day; the beach and pool attendants coming to see us every morning at breakfast to see if we were staying in the hotel and if so, where we’d like to be so they could save all 5 of us a spot; the wonderful wonderful Thai spa with the most wonderful attendants (especially Juan) who took the time to speak with us about the local flora and fauna, find books for us to look at and telling us local information, as well as the massage therapists who were knowledgeable, kind and very clearly knew what they were doing (especially given my 3 children have quite significant spinal issues) - they were truly amazing. The list is endless in terms of the service and love we were shown - Princess on our first evening - nothing was too much for her ..cocktails, food suggestions, breakfast juices - she’s one wonderful tenacious lady who, along with Kenny is the local go to for fun and information on the hotspots on the island. Kenny for his friendly jokes and lovely chats each day; Javier for his wonderful kind and quiet energy, telling us about lovely things on the island to go and see/do; the breakfast boys and girls, Alicia, Delma, Yenifer, Lilian, Renee and Melissa (to name a few) who so beautifully looked after my partner on his special birthday - Melissia bringing celebratory fizz along with Fabrice and his team beautifully arranging cake, candles and singing to round everything off. Amaryllis making us various (and many) omelette variations each and every morning without failing each time to delight us. Natasha - lovely lovely Natasha in front of house and guest services - she literally knew what we wanted and the type of family we were from the moment she spoke to us. She gave us such fantastically useful and down to earth information that we appreciated so so much - she is a true gem, this along with Mark who showed us round on the first day then with great charm popped up at various points throughout our stay to make sure all was going well. Then there were the amazing room attendants who left little wonderful touches for all of us - Kareen and Lorna - we were very sad to say goodbye to them. The wonderful young pool attendant who whilst doing his duties every morning made sure I had towels to get out to after y several laps in the lovely lap pool. Anguilla really is a wonderful Island. It’s not the cheapest and sometimes you have to hold your breath when the bill is brought. The weather is a bit changeable sometimes (but when it’s beautiful, it’s really beautiful) - but it’s worth the flight for the people. There’s a small collection of exclusive international hotels one can stay at - we went round these to look and sometimes eat and drink. Truly - we were so relieved to go back to Zemi Beach - if there’s one place in your lifetime you should stay, it’s this place. It might be far from the UK but if you get the opportunity - go. I can’t say anymore. Read less
