Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa

Anguilla, Caribbean

The hotel

Those with a predilection for organic-inspired décor, meditation gardens, and silky sand made for sinking your feet into, will love Zemi Beach House Hotel & Spa – they’re just some of the reasons it was ranked one of Travel + Leisure’s Best Resorts in the Caribbean in 2017. Other highlights that gave it the edge include its swanky seaside suites (with high-tech touches like motion-sensor climate control), infinity edge pools, surfside sports like ocean kayaking and beach boot camps, Anguilla’s only Hammam, children’s club activities like mermaid experiences, and five dining and drinking venues, with an over-spilling rum bar and complimentary beachfront breakfasts. Despite providing all life’s luxuries, this resort still has that ‘castaway in the Caribbean’ feel – thanks to its spot on the white sands of Shoal Bay East and the 300 year old Thai House and yoga deck at its spa.

We have been going to Anguilla for 19 years and have stayed at the Cuisart, Cap Juluca, and Four Seasons. This was our first time at Zemi, and it was amazing. Nicest rooms and best service. Our room was actually the nicest room I have had on any island. Big, comfortable, warm and inviting (lots of beautiful wood and stone), right on the beach with a plunge pool. The bathrooms were huge and the beds super comfortable. We had a suite and it was better equipped than most NYC apartments I have been in. No expense was spared in designing it. The turndown service with fresh cookies was a treat for the kids. I love that the hotel pool (which is heated unlike most on the island) is right on the beach. It even has a glass front so you can see into the pool from the beach. This is great for the kids, as they can go from beach to pool and back. I prefer that to when the pool sits somewhere not overlooking the beach - so you and the kids are either at one or the other. This is a big selling point for us - we are not big fans of having to treck from the beach to a pool or having part of the family feel like they are in a different part of the resort than the other. I also love that the restaurant/breakfast is right on the beach. You can have your coffee and a bagel with your feet in the sand if you like - or eat within the glassed-in dining room overlooking the beach. The spa is amazing - easily the best on the island...beautiful. The service was great - people were super friendly and could not do enough for the guests. My daughter's GoPro was missing the piece that locks it in, so they got someone from engineering to quickly make a replacement piece to get it working. So thoughtful. Denise at guest services was great at setting everything up and finding excursions for the kids. Anything we asked for someone quickly took care of and often went above and beyond. The setting is amazing - one of the best beaches on the island. The lobby area is very pretty and a great place to grab a drink or some sushi. There is an amazing rum and cigar room I wanted to try, but we ran out of time. Next time. The resort seems to be just the right size. Big enough to offer whatever you want - spa, gym, late-night dining, etc - but not so big that it loses that personal feeling. We were there at Christmas time and it did not feel crowded. We had our beach chairs waiting for us with umbrellas and bottled water on ice every day. In addition, often my wife would sit in on one of the lounges outside the restaurant on the sand - between the pool and ocean and just have coffee. If one wanted to sit by the pool - there were plenty of open lounges and cabanas you could use. Wherever you were sitting or swimming, someone was always there with a fresh towel for you or asking if you needed a drink or more bottled water. In the afternoon, staff walked around with refreshing fruit, smoothies or even sushi for a snack while sunbathing. We never waited for anything. The breakfast is great - no long waits for omelets or anything like that. The dining options were plentiful and the staff helped out. If my kids wanted sushi for lunch, they would bring it down to the beach from the sushi bar in the lobby. For a smaller-ish resort - there were more managers than I could count. Everyone checks in on you to make sure you do not want anything. One member of our party hurt herself in an accident - a manger from the resort rushed to get his own car and drove her to the hospital...then checked in constantly to make sure she was ok (She was fine). Truly a first-class operation. Read less

Upon deciding to go to Anguilla, i chose to take my daughter and her best friend to Zemi Beach House. The first thing to say is that Zemi is on Anguilla’s Shoal Bay East beach which is not where the majority of Anguilla’ s hotels (4 Seasons..Malliouhana etc.) are. We found this to be a huge positive. The water was amazing, the beach was great for nice strolls and best of all, we essentially felt like we had the beach to ourselves-that is of course except for Zemi’s amazing beach staff which essentially met our needs(chair set up.water.fruit.drinks/food) before we even had to ask for a thing. Two things I always believe make resort great are: 1) it’s not that large, yet it offers just about everything a much larger resort does. 2) it can be full to capacity and yet there is no sense of being crowded whatsoever. Zemi accomplishes both. Beach, multiple pools, tennis, gym and one of the best spas i have ever been to are just part of the options for a guest to take part in. We also never felt like we had to wait for a thing. Getting seated at dinner, actual service at dinner, help from guest services all happened without hassle or wait. As to food, we experienced 3 of Zemi’s dining options. 20 Knots, a beachfront restaurant with a impressive menu focused on local offerings (best fish tacos I’ve ever had). Stone, a more formal steak and seafood restaurant where I had a filet steak to rival any in New York City. Lastly we enjoyed fresh sushi at The Bohio Bar and Lounge while listening to some live jazz music being played. Lastly, a quick comment on Zemi’s actual rooms. Our room was filled with modern amenities yet retained local charm. It was spacious, the staff provided great service, and the ocean view was spectacular. If you are planning a trip to Anguilla, I strongly recommend you stay at Zemi Beach House. To repeat what I believe to be the strongest compliment you can give a resort. While it is not a large-hundreds of rooms-establishment, it offers everything a much larger resort does, and it does so on the most beautiful island in The Caribbean. Read less

The rooms were spacious and elegant, all with a "million dollar view".The staff is uniformly friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We appreciated the attention to detail, e.g. bottles of water in buckets of ice(regularly replenished) as soon as we selected our lounge chairs. Plenty of options for water activities, a well-equipped fitness center and over the top spa. The food was great- we especially liked the weekly caribbean night buffet. New Year's Eve party was amazing- excellent band, lighted tent on the beach, terrific buffet and beautiful fireworks. Zemi beach house- truly a FIVE STAR experience. Read less

Our stay at Zemi was outstanding. This was our second visit to Zemi Beach house and once again they exceeded our expectations. Check In: After arriving in Saint Martin, we used the VIP services and breezed through SXM and Anguilla customs (I would highly recommend this). Zemi staff met us at the ferry and brought us to the hotel. Once we arrived at Zemi we were greeted with rum punches and cold towels. The staff checked us in quickly and efficiently. The manager, Mark, brought us on a quick tour of the resort and then to our rooms to ensure everything was perfect. The Room: We booked two Premium Ocean View rooms (one with double beds and one with a king bed). The rooms were quite large and spacious and had a balcony. The entire room was spotlessly clean. The bed linens were high quality and comfortable. The bathroom was large with double sinks, a bath tub, rain shower and high end toiletries. We had turn down service each night, the maids drew our beds and left a freshly baked cookie on our pillows. The view from our room was spectacular, and I would assume every room at Zemi has a similarly amazing view. The Beach/Pool: Shoal Bay Beach has been consistently voted the best beach in the Caribbean and one of the best in the world. Both the beach and pools were amazing. I have been to many high end resorts around the holiday season and the beach/pool experience at Zemi is by far the most superior. I came with a group of six people and never once had to wake up early to reserve chairs. They took it upon themselves to reserve six beach chairs every day close to the water with umbrellas and tables. T, Javier, Kenny, Estaphani, Styles and Aden were extremely attentive and consistently brought us complimentary water bottles in bags of ice (without us even asking!). When it looked like a passing rain shower was coming, they alerted us and gave us fresh towels once the shower was over. I was at Zemi over the holidays, the resort was fully booked, and it never once felt crowded on the beach or at the pool. Guest Services: Prior to our arrival I emailed Guest Services about organizing our fast track through customs, private boat, and dinner reservations for the nine nights we spent in Anguilla. Denise responded promptly and provided an itinerary with each restaurant, reservation, and driver information. She was extremely helpful and responsive. In addition to Denise; Etalia, Shellian, Jenelle and Keinell helped iron out the details of our trip so I didn’t have to. Dining: Zemi Beach has two full service restaurants and a sushi bar on site. Despite it being a smaller resort there is a chef on duty until late each night. The breakfast buffet is included and quite lovely! Fresh fruits, pastries, griddled items and eggs made to order were available each day. For lunch we could order on the beach or sit outside at the restaurant. Service was quick and efficient and the staff was amazing. I have to give a shoutout to Alicia, Melissa, Lillian, Princess, Edward, Yennifer, Hector and Sharon although everyone was amazing. The menu for lunch was great; salads, sandwiches, fresh fish tacos and burgers. The sushi bar is a great addition to Zemi, each roll has freshly caught fish and shrimp tempura was made to order. The public spaces were beautifully designed and impeccably kept. Zemi is a incredibly manager heavy resort. It seemed like there were 5 on staff at all times. Each one made an effort to check on us and make sure our stay was going well. This is by far my favorite resort I have ever visited. The staff genuinely aimed to please and made our trip. Looking forward to another stay at Zemi! Read less

Having a restful stay at Zemi Beach in Anguilla. Great food great view and peaceful holiday! New Sushi bar is amazing. Quiet. No drama. Chill. Even in the cloudy rainy weather it’s a dream.comfy beds and squishy pillows.
