Blue Waters

Antigua, Caribbean

The hotel

This is a truly superb recently refreshed hotel with elegant surroundings, outstanding service and an enviable location on two white sand beaches lapped by gentle aqua waves, epitomising the Caribbean fantasy. The 17 tropical acres of gardens are beautifully tended and each of the buildings is romantically draped with brightly coloured bougainvillea — just adding to the delightful ambience. There's plenty to do during the day and you'll no doubt be tempted on to the beach by one of a generous array of water sports. Tennis and table tennis are popular and there's an 18-hole golf course 5 minutes away. Wind down in the evening (if you haven't done so already!) with a delicious coconut crush — liberally splashed with local rum — while you watch pelicans dive and swoop for their meals. Your dinner can be taken at one of the hotel's gourmet restaurants, complimented with an excellent Claret from the wine list. An amazing holiday experience.

It is a bit of a walk to the main hotel, but the Villa’s private pool is only a short few steps, as is the Cove Restaurant, the best in the hotel. The grounds were perfect, with all of the grounds team being extremely friendly, stopping and chatting about the holiday! I would love to name all the staff who looked after us, but I can’t remember everyone, so sorry for anyone I miss, Joe, Welgrove, Tarik, Mitchell, TJ, Kina, Carolyn, Alrick, you were all stars, I have no hesitation recommending this hotel. I was harassed by a man about my review which goes to show you can't give honest opinions about what needs to be worked on so Ill repost this review again. I just recently stayed 5-night vacation at this resort now before I start my review im going to list the positives before I get to the negative. Pros: Staff was very well mannered, professional, and overall made my 5 boring night stay worthy. The hotel itself is a beautiful nice room, clean for the most part and well kept. THE STAFF AGAIN A PRO. NOW THE CONS BARE WITH ME: Cons: First coming in we were met and greeted by the whole entire staff it was lovely and we had lunch at Carolyns right after despite the lack of an expansive menu the food was simple and delicious and the best food on the property besides the cove. After eating at Carolyns we ate at the palm for dinner, my cousins fish was overcooked and hard my steak was bland the dinner was a flop. Now we have a lot of experience for all-inclusive resorts and eneterinament and activities are KEY to keeping me from not being bored but sadly the only form of entertainment at this resort was a band. We were shocked to wake up the next morning with no form of activities near the pool the beach, some music or flare it was boring. Not to mention breakfast at the palm was horrible. It was the same food everyday for breakfast and it was bland and lacked flavor or diversity of food choices for the money you are paying for. I also want to discuss the problem of the all inclusive plan: Signing for lunch and dinner was the most annoying thing I ever did. it made me feel a bit restricted in the all-inclusive plan and it was annoying that I had to wait for a bill to arrive for me to sign and leave compared to many all-inclusive stays I never once had to sign for anything. Also sometimes errors were made on the bill that was quickly fixed was still a bit of a burden a new system should be in place for people who paid for the all inclusive plan because it was most def not worth it for the money spent you feel so restricted. The Palm: yet again the palm was the worst place to eat lunch they also lacked flavor expect the wings and fries off the menu. I come to Antigua to get the Antiguan experience it did not have any home dishes, no Carribean flare, no real representation or diversity in this hotel at all. The cove and Carolyn's are the only places that taste good. Bartley's was horrible the food was bland, the palm is bland and overall I felt restricted in eating in general because in other hotels restaurants and other food joints are open at good times for me to grab food. Overall I honestly would never come back here it's NOT WORTH THE MONEY TRUST MEEEEEEEEE ITS A WASTE ONLY GOOD PART WAS THE STAFF AND THE FACILITY. the resort is boring, dry, and lacked good food and has so many restrictions to even consider even trying to open up all inclusive plan. No real activities besides water sports and those lack as well, and for you to truly enjoy yourself you must spend more money to go outside the hotel to get the Antiguan experience. Don't waste your money if you want bland food, no entertainment and just being bored by all means do that but it honestly was not worth the 2,000 dollars 5-night stay I was super glad to leave. I will be coming back to Antigua just skipping over the blue waters forever! Read less

Blue water made my dream wedding come true ! I had planned every detail to my destination wedding in Dominican Republic for the last 10 months. Due to the many deaths in DR most of my guest canceled . I was determined to make my dream wedding happen and thanks to Mandie at blue water It did . I had the most amazing wedding a girl could ever dream of . Mandie - I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being the best wedding planner /coordinator in the world . Mandie was so prompt with her emails. I booked my wedding with Mandie in 2 weeks on my 1 hr lunch break . Mandie was very patient and planned my wedding like it were her own . Everything was beautiful . The day of my arrival Mandie went over the details , my decorations . Mandie kept me very calm by stating the day I arrived we would meet . Planning a destination is overwhelming but Mandie is your girl ! She asks you what kind of flowers , cake flavor , decorations , or anything extra you may want . The prices are very reasonable. 4 of my guest were staying at a different hotel , and Mandie was amazing with the hotel passes. Hotel passes allow other guest that don’t want to spend that much $ be a part of your special day. Specially since they all booked last min on 4th of July weekend. At checkout they let you nominate an employee of the month, I nominated Mandie . She really makes dreams come true . She deserves her own office !!!! Hotel - where do I begin ? STUNNING rooms ! We stayed at the cove suites . Beautifully decorated. Beautiful private pools . Even the reg rooms looked nice with a balcony. Something that stood out to me and I must share are the showers / changing rooms in the lobby . Immaculately clean. I traveled many places and I can say I barely see this. This is very convenient for late flights, to still enjoy the beach / pool without a room . The grounds are gorgeous and kept very clean . The garden is beautiful with their signature flowers . The grounds are big and they provide boogies to be driven from the lobby to your room. Sadiki was our common driver . Always a smile on his face and very welcoming . If we needed him to be at our suite at a specific time he was there . The walk is not bad , beautiful actually . The manger on duty Kevin is always walking around and checking if your enjoying your stay. Another manager I saw was jasper ! What a sweet guy , he brought us fried calamari to our table . Pools/beach - I had my wedding reception on the beach . It looked beautiful ! The pools are nice , Carolyn’s pool / adult pool / private cove pools . The cove pools have ur own bar , which was amazing . Carlolyns pool is gorgeous . The beaches have FREE water sports , snorkeling , paddle boards. There’s a lady that braids hair on the beach in a little house . She was really sweet . Restaurants - we ate mostly at the palms . The menu changed everyday . The breakfast was DELICIOUS! Omelets made . For lunch they made chicken / fish or steak in front of you . They have fruit , coffee, juices . And delicious deserts . My fav person in the cove was Derha. She went above and beyond to see a smile on my face. Everyone knew we had just got married . My room service order was taken by her and it was Perfect ! Champagne makes everything Perfect ! Everyone at blue waters work really hard . The only 1 complaint I have is the cove restaurant is barely open . I missed it but I will return to try it . Lunch at Carolyn’s was sooooo good. Flatbread , gyros . Excellent drinks ! My fav drink was the strawberry margarita which was recommended by T.J. He was amazing he brought fruit to the beach and coconut ice pops to the beach . My wedding - The photographer Ann and the videographer (ARC signature )were worth every Penney . They went above and beyond. One of their employees Orden was helping with my wedding and I was happy to see him enjoying the moment . Working but enjoying life ! I had the BEST chef for my BBQ diner his name is Chef Travis . He can cook !!!! My husband said if he met him first he would have married him , just for his cooking . lol Chef Travis also cooked a steak dinner for my bridal party and everyone loved it . My fav part of my wedding were the gorg doves we were able to release . My wedding officiant was so sweet , and had beautiful words to say . My hair and makeup was on point . Celeste Did an amazing job on my hair and makeup. Peggy did an amazing job ok my bridal party’s hair . Celeste has amazing talent with makeup. The spa is very pretty. We enjoyed the sunset spa experience. I can keep writing , but feel free to email me any questions. Kimberlyo143@hotmail.com . To any Bride that is thinking of having ur wedding here or your honeymoon trust me . YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. Till next time Antigua ! You will always be in my heart . Ty to every team member at blue waters . The housekeeping , the ones that decorated our bed after our wedding. THANK YOU EVERYONE! Read less
