Blue Waters

Antigua, Caribbean

The hotel

This is a truly superb recently refreshed hotel with elegant surroundings, outstanding service and an enviable location on two white sand beaches lapped by gentle aqua waves, epitomising the Caribbean fantasy. The 17 tropical acres of gardens are beautifully tended and each of the buildings is romantically draped with brightly coloured bougainvillea — just adding to the delightful ambience. There's plenty to do during the day and you'll no doubt be tempted on to the beach by one of a generous array of water sports. Tennis and table tennis are popular and there's an 18-hole golf course 5 minutes away. Wind down in the evening (if you haven't done so already!) with a delicious coconut crush — liberally splashed with local rum — while you watch pelicans dive and swoop for their meals. Your dinner can be taken at one of the hotel's gourmet restaurants, complimented with an excellent Claret from the wine list. An amazing holiday experience.

This was our 2nd trip to Antigua and it didn’t disappoint !!! The views are amazing the gardens are well taken care of and sound of the sea lapping around you is very relaxing I would suggest you go all inclusive as the prices are pretty steep and there is nowhere in walking distance where u can eat The food is also very good and the portions are quite big u will not go hungry here !! They have 3 main restaurants the cove which is a bit more formal and amazing at sunset, but didn’t feel u had great amounts of choice as we went 3 times and the menu was the same everytime and the chefs specials weren’t very good Another is Bartley’s wasn’t keen on that as with it being the only air conditioned room u feel a little boxed in The palm does all the lunches and breakfast and on a night they do evening meals with again a great view The rooms are spacious (we had a ocean view room) bed is huge !!! Iron and board safe hair dryer and Elemis toiletries !!! You also have a mini bar which is refilled daily. We did find the rooms probably the weakest point tho as there were stains on lampshades and some of the sheets were also marked and this wasn’t noticed but this is me being picky Generally the staff are very warm and inviting and remember your name and greet u personally and nothing is too much trouble All in all the place is amazing I would defo go again a little on the formal side but well worth it Pic is the view from the cove restaurant at night Read less

A most amazing setting in it's own private bay. The staff were incredibly friendly, could not have been more helpful and were always smiling. The selection of food was excellent with a great choice of restaurants. We could not fault Blue Waters and hope to return.

Wonderful setting, great rooms and food and very friendly and warm staff. Very difficult to fault. Everyone from the general manager to the housekeeping staff were so attentive and welcoming. Even when we experienced to odd little 'bump' they dealt with it perfectly.

Anticipation of needs is not everywhere these days. From the welcome drink, to the clean room, to housekeeping, to guest services, great staff. They made my stay great. The grounds are lovely, plenty to do for fun and comfortable place to do business.

I stayed here in April 2019 with my family; we stayed for 11 nights and had a lovely holiday. I originally thought the resort was 5 star and was a little surprised when we got there as it wasn't quite as luxurious as I expected but its a 4 star resort (which I think is accurate). We had a lovely holiday; I would recommend it for families. Pros of this resort: (1) hotel is quiet - no-one talking loudly on the phone, few children using iPads etc and there are no games etc during the day (which I hear some resorts organise). There are no motorised water sports - yay! (2) we had one of the basic rooms (number 101) overlooking the water sports area; it was quite - we never heard other guests. The beds were comfortable - we all slept well (3) housekeeping was great (esp turndown service - nice to come back to a spotless room every evening) (4) water sports - we went kayaking (no charge) and out to Boone's reef to snorkel on a catamaran with Robert from the water sports team (there is no charge but do give a tip). The water sports equipment is in great condition and there is a lot of emphasis on safety (5) kids club; my daughter would have went every day if we'd let her. The staff are lovely and put so much effort into every activity. There were cookie decoration classes on when we visited - big hit! Tanya is super with the children as are all the team The few areas for improvement I'd highlight are: (1) whilst we enjoyed the food at Cove restaurant, the food could be improved upon. They (literally) have all the ingredients but could be more imaginative; breakfast is nice esp the Coconut French toast but could be finessed eg nuts, condiments etc are stored in attractive Kilner jars but these are not cleaned daily (they are all messy around the rim). This lack of attention to detail is replicated across the food offering at the resort. Things feel a little unimaginative here. The menu at Carolyn's would benefit from a little more variety (Carolyn is a fantastic person and an asset to the hotel) (2) staff are quite mixed - many members of the team are exceptionally pleasant and professional but its a little hit and miss (in The Palm in particular). People like Nicole and Tameka are really very special and a real asset to the hotel. The manager, Kevin (ex Sandy Lanes), is visible and very approachable Read less
