Blue Waters

Antigua, Caribbean

The hotel

This is a truly superb recently refreshed hotel with elegant surroundings, outstanding service and an enviable location on two white sand beaches lapped by gentle aqua waves, epitomising the Caribbean fantasy. The 17 tropical acres of gardens are beautifully tended and each of the buildings is romantically draped with brightly coloured bougainvillea — just adding to the delightful ambience. There's plenty to do during the day and you'll no doubt be tempted on to the beach by one of a generous array of water sports. Tennis and table tennis are popular and there's an 18-hole golf course 5 minutes away. Wind down in the evening (if you haven't done so already!) with a delicious coconut crush — liberally splashed with local rum — while you watch pelicans dive and swoop for their meals. Your dinner can be taken at one of the hotel's gourmet restaurants, complimented with an excellent Claret from the wine list. An amazing holiday experience.

This boutique resort surpassed our expectations in every way. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable, and the view was beautiful. Service, food, landscaping - everything was 5 star all the way. We will definitely return!

It was very clean and apart from a bit of a problem with the water draining from the bath it was kept to a high standard with our mini bar being refilled (with water) every day. The resort itself is well maintained and all staff are friendly and polite. We thought the food was pretty good. I loved the Cove restaurant, and Veronica's and the beach bar. We ate most of all in the Palm which was fine. While some people seemed to get up at the crack of dawn to put down towels on sunbeds there never seemed to be a problem (unless you wanted the exact same place every day). There are two beaches and at least three pools, so plenty of room for everyone. The sea was lovely to swim in, calm and blue with a raft to swim out to. There was entertainment every night, some great dancing to work off those rum punches. I also used the gym everyday which was never busy (well, not at 7.45 in the morning). We took a taxi guide one day (Dane, who was recommended by hotel). This was a great day out, saw most of the island including a bit of cricket at the Viv Richards ground, Shirley Heights, Nelson's Dockyard, St John's and all main sights. Gave us a really good feel of the island and he was full of information. However, I am a bit ashamed to say that the resort was so lovely and we were there to relax so this was our only trip out. Everything about this resort was first class. Not too big but four eating options. Attentive, friendly staff. They know your name in five minutes. Only left once in a week stay. The beaches were beautiful. Three pools too! Go before folks from the US discover this gem.

We stayed in the Cove Suites, on the ground floor. Very comfortable and we really liked being on the ground floor as we could just wander out to sunbeds and the pool. There is a private pool for each block of suites, which is great but to be honest it was almost too cold to swim in as it doesn't get a great deal of sun. There was also… Read more

There is a private pool for each block of suites, which is great but to be honest it was almost too cold to swim in as it doesn't get a great deal of sun. There was also excellent pool side bar service. The main hotel was lovely with various bars and restaurants. The main Palm restaurant was good for a buffet lunch but rather disappointing in the evening. We really liked The Cove restaurant. A beautiful setting and the food was always delicious but the portions were huge! Everywhere the staff were helpful and charming. Overall we had a wonderful 11 night stay. Read less

SERVICE and BEAUTY are the words that come to mind when recalling our stay at Blue Waters Resort. Our view from our suite overlooking the Atlantic rivaled an oil-painted landscape or an award-winning photograph of an ocean-side paradise and “paradise” is the perfect word for Blue Waters. Nestled in the cliff-like setting of Soldier’s Bay, this stunning resort has found a way to perfect its food, its service and its amenities. We ate there, we swam there, we took excursions from there, we drank there, and we asked for help with parking, walking and navigating. All assistance requests were answered to our complete satisfaction and given by Karen (our concierge), Atiba, Akeeme Derha and Dotsie. Added to the cleanliness, the friendliness and the overall welcoming nature of the employees, it was the perfect stay. Read less
