We stayed at the Nonsuch from 2nd - 9th July and what a wonderful week we had. We went with friends as a result of a charity auction the year before so were uncertain how it would turn out having never visited the Caribbean before. As we hadn’t done a usual “package” we upgraded to all inclusive once we arrived, no problem. It is a small resort in comparison to the usual european all inclusives we have been to before, but for us this just added to our experience. The staff all round we found to be very warm and friendly, the bar is small but for us made it intimate, we only caught the entertainment once our fault not the resorts. The food is lovely, all the food is beautifully fresh and well cooked. Breakfast is a buffet affair with omelettes, poached eggs etc all cooked to order, once you have had a couple, the chef (I didn’t get his name) knows what you want and gets on with it almost without being asked. You have to book in for lunch and dinner, which initially I was a bit surprised at, but realised it prevented the ‘bun fight’ of other resorts we have stayed at. Dinner is standard a la carte, which for an all inclusive is unusual - but was wonderful. There is a supplement for lobster - which we did try and was lovely, and fillet steak, but you don’t need to be eating it every day and the menu choices are very good. All of the staff we came across were extremely friendly, and attentive. The members of staff who have been there a while have their names embroidered on their shirts which I thought was nice. Some of the newer members hadn’t. Mauricia, Michelle and Maxine to name but a few in the restaurant, David and Everton (watch out for the dry sense of humour) in the bar. Ruth, Natasha all the reception staff, nothing is too much trouble and they all seem to want you to have a good experience. The beach is lovely, sitting on the sand with the palm trees gently swaying overhead providing just the right amount of shade. When we arrived all was clear, sadly the sargassum (which is a major issue for the Caribbean, USA & Mexico) came in overnight on the Saturday causing an issue for the resort. Obviously this is not the resorts fault and consequently they provided complementary trips to green island for your clean seaweed free beach. We chose to help clean up the seaweed on the Sunday, which provided much needed exercise after all that food and some fun and laughter with the guys trying to clean it and with other guests who decided to help as well. Overall the holiday was brilliant, we did several excursions which the hotel were more than happy to book for us and would recommend the resort and Island as a whole. We would be more than happy to go back. Read less

We arrived at Nonsuch Bay in July 2019 with our teenage son and daughter. On arrival we were greeted with a rum punch and cold face towels which was nice. I am going to list the pros and cons so you can make your own decision. Good - accommodation we had was nice and the lady who cleaned our rooms kept them spotless. Food - we found the food very good, buffet for breakfast and lunch and a la carte for evening meals. I’m a big eater and was never hungry. Staff - absolutely brilliant and can’t do enough for you. Natasha looked after us from the moment we arrived, Everton and David would pour you a drink without being asked. The great girls on reception went above and beyond. Sailing - if you like sailing I don’t think you will find a better place. Not so good Main bar - extremely small 8ftx10ft, I was expecting a little more. Being on holiday is a time to relax, have a few drinks and meet new people. Unfortunately the bar closes at 10pm sharp every night. I don’t think I have ever experienced a bar at a holiday resort close at 10pm every night. Evening entertainment 3 times a week, this finishes at 9.30pm. The beach bar consists of something the size of a picnic table with a canopy, no seating to gather around for an afternoon drink at the beach, all very basic. Pools - Our only gripe was the 2 main pools were so far away from the bars to get drinks. They do walk around twice a day to offer refreshments, miss that and you are a long walk to the bar. the pool near the restaurant was nice but you come out dripping wet into the restaurant area with people looking at you. Beach - This was very disappointing, we could only go into the water just above our knees before encountering severe seaweed. If you look at the photos posted the dark areas are all seaweed. The guys are continuously cleaning the seaweed throughout the day. Conclusion - For us we do not do any sailing, we like a nice beach and relax and have a few drinks in the evening. There was absolutely nothing for the teenagers to do in the evening, no games whatsoever so they were totally bored. We did happen to meet a Mr Wilson who we believe has a very strong influence in Nonsuch Bay. We were eating in the restaurant one evening and he requested the background music to be turned off. We again met him in the bar and raised our opinion as to why there was no background music playing. We were a little surprised by his reply of that he doesn’t like music and we should be listening to the sea and tree frogs. A number of other guests also then voiced there concerns as to why a holiday establishment has no music. When we arrived at Antigua airport we were greeted by a guy playing the steel drums, great we have arrived and already feeling the great Caribbean atmosphere. Sadly we were very much mistaken. If you like sailing and want to go to bed early then this may well be the place for you. If on the other hand you like a really nice beach and can have a drink at least until midnight then definitely go somewhere else. Hope this helps with your decision. Read less

No sense of how a resort is supposed to make you feel special and wanted...we left for another resort and they did even refund us one night out if three scheduled. Show u how much they care about customer service. We moved to Pinapple Beach resort and the difference was NIGHT and DAY. See less Read less

Just came back from 10 days spent with my two 12-yrs old kids at Nonsuch Bay resort. It was overall a positive visit but it was surprisingly colored by strongly contrasting experiences. The positives: the residences are very spacious and well furnished (even with a laundry machine), the food is overall good and well prepared and the staff is in general friendly and helpful. The not-so positives: The location is very secluded and while we enjoyed the calm and relaxation it was at times a bit “too calm” and far from other places. There was a lot of sea-weed - clearly not the fault of the resort - but inevitably it took away from the enjoyment since the beach and water were uninviting. The negatives: The three of us love sailing and we picked this resort knowing it was a bit secluded and clarifying at the time of making the reservation that sailing was the primary reason we were picking this destination. The behavior of the staff at the watersport facilities was very heterogeneous: some people like Mickey and Devon were overall friendly and accommodative and after verifying the competency of me and my kids allowed us to use the various sailboats most of the time (they were strict on not letting us go out with more than 20knots of wind which I understand is part of their policy). Other members of the staff were extremely condescending and patronizing and in some cases outright rude. They were not even that knowledgeable and when I pointed out some issues with the boats (which were not always maintained in the best conditions) I received a lot of attitude. They limited the use of the boats unless I asked the manager Natasha to intervene and were overall unfriendly. On the last day one of these people started harassing a guest (a British boy of about 14 or 15-yrs old) who was innocently walking in front of their facility, intimating to him he couldn’t walk around like that “as if he was a gansta” and to just scram…. A pretty surreal scene that left the poor boy scared in disbelief. One more note on 40knots (the nearby facility for other watersports). The staff is great and friendly. It was advertised to me as doing both Kitesurfing and Windsurfing but be aware that essentially they only do kitesurfing and have virtually no windsurfing equipment. All in all a positive experience despite the negatives mentioned above. Read less
