Starfish Halcyon Cove Resort Antigua

Antigua, Caribbean

The hotel

Every Starfish resort is set beside a beach and what a beautiful beach this is, with soft white sand and glistening waters it’s an open invitation to don your bathers and walk right in! This hotel doesn’t break the bank, Halcyon Cove offers simple, value-for-money accommodation in a great location, on the shores of Dickenson Bay. While the rooms here are basic and the resort has maintained the same simple Caribbean charm for many years, it remains an ever popular holiday hotel for repeat guests. Besides splashing about in the sea, there’s plenty of water sports on offer to keep you fit, if you prefer your sports on dry land. Youngsters will also enjoy Rexplorers kids' club, with plenty of fun activities on the agenda. This hotel is tired and needs some work. However the staff were amazing! Especially LaDonna who was great with the kids and Fenton who works so hard. We were pretty disappointed with our room at first but we were moved the next day. The food was great and the location really was exceptional. Thanks for a lovely holiday xx

Stayed for a week in August 2019. This hotel is situated on a beautiful beach. The water is calm and there are a large number of beds and sunshades for everyone to use. The beach stretches for half a mile or so and was never crowded. As pointed out in other reviews, the buildings need some TLC. They appear to have been left to deteriorate since the last century. The bath suites are in bad shape and the in room fridge had a rusty door. The door to our room was not very secure and the sliding glass doors onto our balcony did not close securely. We also Had the misfortune to have a leaky roof in our wardrobe which we discovered on the day of our check out when we went to pack our saturated jeans that we had left on the top shelf. Breakfast is fine, all you would expect from an all inclusive. Lunch is very repetitive. By the end of day 3 I thought I was going to change into a burger. The way it is served outside also resembles a feeding frenzy both for local gulls and guests. Poorly organised. Dinner is good, a nice restaurant setting and the service is top notch. The only downer is one evening a week it is served outside, along with millions of biting insects... not particularly enjoyable. There are a few activities going on during the day and evening, but nothing to get excited about. Water sports are advertised but these are poor. There are 3 decrepit windsurf boards and a broken paddle for guests to use. Seeing people use this tired kit reminds one of children making toys out of scrap on a garbage tip. Quite depressing. This hotel serves a purpose if on a budget. The staff are all friendly. Just some tweaks and a few ££££ spent on some basics would make this resort really special. Read less

We stayed for 10 nights at the starfish cove hotel overall the experience was excellent we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. There was a great range of cocktail drinks and the food was good, especially breakfast and lunch which was served by the beach. There were three restaurants one of which was on the beach we enjoyed dinner there one night, over looking the turquoise sea. The hotel is great value for money the room was very clean and the beach views were phenomenal. We don’t have a bad word to say about any of the staff members at the hotel they were all very helpful and polite whenever we needed anything they were happy to oblige. Beach towels provided every day at the towel hut. Shout out to Dave the hotel rep he was extremely welcoming and made sure we were okay. Be VERY careful when privately buying tours from people on the beach I would highly recommend to book via the hotel. We had a terrible experience. If we were to visit Antigua again we would definitely come to this hotel. Read less
