The hotel

In a spectacular elevated setting above Jolly Harbour, Sugar Ridge is a family-owned, independent, boutique hotel set amongst sugar-cane —hence the name! — and indigenous flora providing a beautiful setting — it really is the sweetest thing. Located on 11 acres of sloping parkland surrounded with colourful, indigenous flora and fauna, this certified Green Globe Hotel is fashionable in design and offers unparalleled views over the Caribbean Sea, palm-lined beaches and the headlands to Five Islands Bay. Tiered guest rooms are bright and spacious with stunning views of your spectacular surrounds. Contemporary in style, they’re also elegant, providing the perfect home-from-home experience. Ideal for a relaxing couples holiday, this hotel really does offer the best of both worlds — intimate seclusion with beaches, shopping, dining, galleries and attractions within easy access. Dining at the hotel is a treat with two distinct restaurants. Enjoy stunning sunsets and fine dining at Carmichael’s or discover the more casual buzzy atmosphere of the Sugar Club Restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor dining and live entertainment three times a week. Packed lunches are available for those of you who plan to explore the island. There are no less than three pools to choose from at the hotel and to make sure you're completely relaxed, pool attendants will be there to offer snacks and drinks, complimentary water scented with tropical fruit and refreshing cold scented towels. I wish I could give different ratings for different aspects of our stay. The staff and accommodations were fabulous, I cannot say enough things about everyone that works there. We absolutely loved our stay at Sugar Ridge!! There were a few things, however, that need a little improvement. If you're planning a trip here, make sure you have reservations for dinner literally anywhere on the grounds otherwise you'll be stuck eating "bar snacks". I'm not one to dislike bar snacks, but this particular menu needs some work. All in all, we had a wonderful stay, we loved the room and the staff, and can't wait to go back!! Read less

(May 28-29) We had a great one night stay at the Sugar Ridge Resort. We booked the plunge pool room with included breakfast plan. There was a two hour wait to get into our room but it was worth it. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. As stated in many reviews, the resort is on top of a hill so it requires a lot of walking or you can call front desk and request a shuttle pick up if you do not want to walk the great distance. FOOD: the breakfast at sugar club was delicious and so was the room service for dinner. I just hated the additional ten dollar fee for room service and that wasn’t including the tip. POOL: We did take a dip in one of the two pools. We went with the pool at the Carmichael’s restaurant which was at the top of the resort... it had a great view of the Obama mountain. Great for pics. Conclusion: I would definitely return again for short stay (1-2 nights). It’s a boutique hotel so there isn’t a lot of hoopla going on. Small group of guests based on our stay. Read less
