The Aruban people are amazing! The Aruban beaches are amazing. The Aruban weather is amazing. We just returned from celebrating our 25th anniversary at the Barcelo Aruba resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The only major issue we had was with the front desk staff. We and booked two adjoining rooms with King sized beds. We arrived at around 2:00 PM and realized that check in was not until 4:00. The staff invited us to use the facility while our rooms were being prepared. At 4:00 we were told that the guests who had been staying on one of your rooms had requested a late checkout so they put one couple in another room. When we got up to our rooms, they were in opposite sides of a long hall. The rooms each had two double beds. We went downstairs to complain about the room locations, the bedding and some malfunctioning electricity, the manager had a bit of an attitude. She explained that in Aruba, Adjoining rooms meant only that the rooms were on the same floor. She also explained that “bedding” was not guaranteed. But, by this time the “connecting room” was available so we were able to switch to actual “connecting” rooms. We were just left a little uneasy about the resort. The staff mentioned several times that we booked through Cheap Caribbean. The rest of our week went very well. The food was quite good, and the staff very warm and welcoming. In particular several stood out including Renalto and Marianeta at the Palm Buffet and Joshua in the Lobby. One simple thing that could be improved would be to install floor numbers on the outside of the elevators. It’s somewhat confusing to not be sure what floor your’e on when you exit the elevator. Other guests consistently mentioned this to me during the week. When we went to check out, we requested a 2 hour late check out but were told that it was not possible because our rooms were booked. We explained that we were inconvenienced when we checked in due to a guests late checkout. They gave us 1 extra on one room, once again with a bit of an attitude. If I could give this resort, 3 1/2 stars, I would. We enjoyed our stay and would return although we would book directly through the hotel. Read less

Juan, Ernie at the palm buffet were wonderful hosts. We had Dinner on the beach and our waiter Renado was awesome, he was funny and went above and beyond to make it special. All of our waiters and waitresses were top notch. Roland greeted us at the hotel and was so sweet! Veronica in the royal club was so accommodating and informative. I have to give a huge THANK YOU to Sharitza Figaroa for making our week at the Barcelo extra special! We truly appreciated it! Our room was always spotless and the hotel overall is very clean. The only reason I did not rate 5 stars has nothing to do with the staff, or amenities, I do wish and hope that the corporation considers a no smoking policy in pool area, it makes it less enjoyable and also bc it's not adults only that shouldnt be allowed near children. Other than that we loved our stay!!!!! Read less

It is an average resort. Would have gotten a better deal if researched more. Value if the money I spent is not worth visiting twice. Desk service is very slow. We tried to request for the room card to be replaced as it was not working. It was not responded and i have to go to reception to correct it.
