Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort

Aruba, Caribbean

The hotel

It takes something pretty special to make a beach hotel stand out from the Caribbean crowd – but Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort does just that. It’s not just bagged a spot near Aruba’s famous Eagle Beach, sharing a nearby stretch of sand with its sister hotels; it’s also embraced by the lush fairways of The Links at Divi Aruba, a nine hole golf course accompanied by a luxury clubhouse with two stunning dining venues, a Pro Shop, and a golf school. It has all the classic Caribbean trimmings, like its four freshwater pools, sumptuous spa, water sports, and children’s club, but it also throws in extra flourishes just for fun – like a 30 foot high rock climbing tower that rises from the beach, complimentary travel to Alhambra Casino, and movie nights.

Stayed for 5 nights May 2019. Had a great time. Go across the street to Beach Bar for great sunset views and pics (just bring a straw, the main hotel uses paper straws but this bar doesn't have any) Elizabeth in the Seabreeze restaurant was great. Go across the street to Beach Bar for great sunset views and pics (just bring a straw, the main hotel uses paper straws but this bar doesn't have any) Elizabeth in the Seabreeze restaurant was great. The Infinity Pool was very nice, although they should have an earlier happier hour than 4pm with music to get us in the vacation mood and have fun. It was pretty dead over there for a pool that size. Also, I'm used to activity, fun, music, etc by the main pool but there was none. Read less

We've stayed at the Divi Gulf before, and always feel it is well located, with a very nice infinity pool, helpful staff, and spacious rooms with comfy beds. All inclusive is offered, however we did not participate. Very nice grills were available behind our building, and we grocery shopped at the nearby Super Foods, which has very nice fruits… Read more

Pros (5/5 stars): -location: If you’re looking for a quieter and peaceful beach (vs the crowds of Eagle beach) then this is a good option. -Very clean updated rooms and facilities -walking distance to local grocer. -has everything ensuite: dishwasher, laundry, full pantry to cook (enough for four place settings) -shuttle golf cart to… Read more
Pros (5/5 stars): -location: If you’re looking for a quieter and peaceful beach (vs the crowds of Eagle beach) then this is a good option. -Very clean updated rooms and facilities -walking distance to local grocer. -has everything ensuite: dishwasher, laundry, full pantry to cook (enough for four place settings) -shuttle golf cart to casinos/around Divi properties -pool area is fun for children: slide, kids pool. Cons (1/5 stars): -location: Less busy beaches likely because waters are choppier and rocks in sand...ouch. This may be difficult if you plan on walking around in water barefoot(3/5stars) *Horrible check-in process (0/5 stars): One of the worse processes I’ve ever experienced. I’m unsure if this is due to Sunwing or Divi, but from other reviews I suspect it is the process issue at Divi as they seem to need to verify everything through a main office in US via email. So you basically stand there for 1hr until they confirm your reservation with main office via email (Yes, apparently calling the office for prompter reply is not an option when I asked). I would suggest emailing/calling prior to arrival to ensure your booking has not been lost by hotel and cross your fingers they can sort matters out prior to arrival. A tip for the hotel staff is if a traveler presents documents showing booking confirmation then they should be able to proceed to assign a room for guest and sort out details with their central office later on to optimize customer service and avoid creating a poor first impression. -concierge/guest services is inaccessible/poorly staffed: always a line up in person and could never reach via telephone the entire stay after many attempts. You will rely heavily on google/trip advisor/taxi drivers for tips. -FYI: if you have young children napping between 11am-2pm you may miss cleaning opportunities. -no outdoor playground for kids (available at other resorts) Due to the above cons I would not return and I’d likely try out luxury condo rental as an alternative to this in future trips (price is lower although they do not have daily cleaning service and no all-inclusive meal option, we did not ). You can use the amenities at the other four Divi Resorts as well. There is complimentary resort shuttle service that will shuttle you around the Divi Resorts. We did not do an all-inclusive. There are so many great restaurants in Aruba. To name a few that we visited, Matthew's and Fusion were excellent, these are on the Divi Resorts. El Gaucho, which is in downtown Oranjestad, is another favorite. Always beautiful weather, but watch out, you can get sun burned easy, those Trade Winds are a nice relief from the hot sun, but you don't realize you are getting burned. Use lots of sunscreen. We plan to go back next year. Read less
