Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort and Casino

Aruba, Caribbean

The hotel

Set amidst breathtaking scenery, this luxurious beachfront hotel offers the ultimate in relaxation. Spanish-style architecture, lush gardens and cascading waterfalls are as delightful as the crystal clear seas it is set by and the accommodation is modern, airy and well equipped with all mod cons. For those who like to keep active, you’re in for a treat. There’s a three-level pool to splash about in, water sports galore down on the beach and an incredible programme of daily entertainment to take advantage of, including sunset sails, pool volleyball and shuffleboard contests. No worries if relaxation is more your style, grab a lounger and laze the day away or head to ZoiA Spa for some well-deserved pampering — we can recommend the White Lily After-Sun Wrap! When you’re feeling peckish, you’ve a choice of restaurants to choose from. Dine amongst floating swans at Ruinas del Mar, serving contemporary cuisine in a rustic recreation of seaside ruins or indulge in island-fresh dishes at Palms. For tequila and regional dishes, head to Mexicado or admire the best sunsets in town at Piet’s Pier Bar. For something a little more sophisticated, dig out your finest attire and head to the Hyatt Casino. After all, a little flirting with Lady Luck never goes amiss!

However, the worst issue was at the breakfast buffet when several families with lots of small children take over the buffet area. Safe food handling is impossible with children sneezing on the food on the buffet and touching food with dirty hands and then putting the food back. The staff was very polite and reluctant to ask the parents to control their children. Read less

Definitely recommend Hyatt Aruba. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there. The property is beautiful and a perfect size. Staff was amazing and caring. The hotel sent a tray of Macaroons and a small bottle of Champagne to celebrate our special day. We plan to visit again with our children soon

My husband and I travel every January someplace warm, and this was our first trip to Aruba. We booked this hotel because of a conference we were attending held there. We tacked on a few extra days since we traveled from Chicago. We checked out after three days and are enjoying a great visit at the Hilton. We learned once we arrived this week is referred to as Hell Week because 4,000 NY families converge in this area every year the same week. It’s no fault of the hotel but we found those guests to be very, very entitled, rude, inconsiderate of the rest of us, and loud. It was very Jersey Shore. That’s not the hotel’s fault. Just do not expect any sense of peace and quiet. We were literally shoved physically when walking around by people staring at their phones. Children ran rampant, with zero supervision, screaming and basically behaving like they owned the hotel. So beware this week. Please also know our expectations are based on a high room rate of $800/night. Pros Facility is lovely Beach is beautiful and the workers keep it spotless. The wireless is strong and included. There’s a lovely boardwalk that runs the whole beach and we joined the groups walking every day. It was great. The pool area was clean, and landscaping nice. Cons People reserve palapas as much as a year in advance, so don’t expect to get the one you may want. There may be a few left to reserve but you must go online the night before. We witnessed a woman who thought she’d just lie on one and someone else reserved it, yet she refused to leave. She was very angry and it was ugly. One pool area is supposed to be the adult pool but there were always kids in it. I like kids, but we had enough of them for a while. There is essentially one stairway from the elevators and lobby to the beach, so it’s always crowded. It’s a narrow walkway so we always ended up dodging others. Prices in the shops were super high. $200 for a simple coverup. We shopped down the boardwalk for cheaper. The casino area stinks to high heaven of cigarettes but you must walk by it to get to the elevator. The food was average yet expensive. We were initially put in a partial ocean view room facing the construction. We immediately called the desk to say we would prefer a room on the other side and the manager immediately went into defense mode saying nothing was available and treating me like a bitchy Karen. They also told us the construction was not happening this week, which turned out to be a lie. We went down to the desk and they did thankfully put us on the other side but they made it clear they could not care less about our needs. No tub, small shower. No balconies, just fake ones. You literally can’t step out, but there is a rail and sliding door? So not sitting on your balcony. Most hotels offer nice bathroom soaps or sunscreen at this price point (Hilton does). There are neither. Even if you don’t need a palapa, beach and pool chairs must also be asked for early. So plan to get one before breakfast, don’t risk popping down in the afternoon, as they will all be taken. A beach umbrella may be reserved for $50. I’m at the Hilton and I’ve had two people ask if need anything while I’m lying there, enjoying the clean pool. We scheduled a massage for today, setting it up this morning. Food here is great too. The lobster roll at Gilligans is amazing....... Bon bini! Read less

Check in was efficient and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and tasty. The rooms are average but comfortable and clean. Overall the resort grounds are nice. The furniture is looking a little long in the tooth in the bar area and around pool. Service at the pool and beach area is very very slow. Takes a very long time to get a server to come to your chair at the beach or pool. Waited most days over an hour even after using the service wanted indicator on the umbrellas. If you were lucky enough to get served, I suggest ordering another round when they drop off the first because it will be another hour before they resurface. The process of reserving a chair at the pool is cumbersome to say the least. Sections have to be reserved and if you don't show up by a certain time they are given away. Even if you are only two people you have to reserve a section. It's very confusing and does not seem to make any sense. The hotel location was good for walking to other establishments for food and there was a fun piano bar called Sopranos within walking distance. Read less

Property well maintained, beach is outstanding, getting palapas was not too much of an issue. The only complaint is that the hotel is building additional pools or entertainment space in the area between the hotel and the Costa del Mar Hotel, so you get some noise during the day, plus the lower level back door to the beach is no longer accessible.
