The Mill Resort & Suites

Aruba, Caribbean

The hotel

Like a row of sugar cubes topped with terracotta pyramids and garlanded with palm trees, Courtyard by Marriott Aruba Palm Beach (operating as The Mill Resort and Suites until November '18) appears quietly understated – but its spirit is something quite different. Cool off by one of the swimming pools, with exotic cocktails from Bang Gozza Bar and the most recent addition — Mango's swim-up bar. Making stays both fun and relaxing, they’ve added in treats from a new spa and fitness centre (part of a recent revamp which also saw a modern makeover of guest rooms) to late breakfasts at the weekend, served until noon so you can lie in. (Although, who wants a lie-in when the sands of Palm Beach are just a complimentary shuttle ride away?)

I had never been to Aruba before, and to be sincere I was only in the hotel for three days so I never really left the hotel (except for dinner once), so my review is for the hotel only. In general, i think Aruba is underrated, its dry heat, the local people are so wonderful and professional, every single day was sunny and good weather, and what I liked most about The Mill is that it had a smaller feeling of not being overcrowded and not having to make massive lines to eat! Very smart location by the beach, stunning sun sets every night, and really affordable happy hours at the hotel bar. Best summer trip I wont forget. Read less

We stayed here for four days. Our room wasn't cleaned on the second day. We complained, hey promised that the room would be cleaned before we return on the third day. It didn't happen. The WiFi was great near the lobby but didn't work in our room. We complain for multiple days before the issue was finally resolved. All in all, a reasonably… Read more

The staff appears friendly and receptive but fails to resolve the issue. I am giving it two stars since the pool was good. Read less

We received our keys to the room, and went on our way to find our room number. The only downside to the hotel was that the hallways were not marked with signs pointing us to the correct location, and as a result, we spent quite a bit of time trying to find our hotel room. However, once we arrived at our room, we were not disappointed. The room was very spacious and contained two beds, a large television, a huge shower and toilet, and sinks outside of the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and I had no trouble falling asleep at night. I also spent quite a bit of time in the pool, which was very large as well and well-kept. The checkout process was very easy as well, and the staff members were all courteous and accommodating to our requests. Read less

She never got irritated by our many questions and gave us good To Do's when we were in search of a little evening fun. We completely understood that the hotel was in transition from The Mills Resort to Courtyard by Marriott Bonvoy and there were some things that were occurring which werent the norm but it didnt damper our stay at all. The hotel is walking distance from a lot of extra activities (Arawak Garden, restaurants, beaches, shops, car rental, public transport etc). If I were to return to Aruba I would definitely stay here again. Read less

So "The Mill" is no The Courtyard Marriott. It would have been good to know this beforehand, we checked in a day after the hotel transition. No big deal. They only had one person at the front desk when we checked in so it took a while. Check is was alright. They only had one person at the front desk when we checked in so it took a while. Check is was alright. No one helped us to our rooms with bag, which okay I get, but we weren't offered a cart or anything. The directions to the room was real vauge, and there are no signs around the hotel to tell you which direction certain room numbers were. Got the the room which was beautiful and large, but was looking directly at the parking lot. Went to the desk and asked for a change in room, it was done with no issue. I appreciated it. We got a room with a balcony and pool view instead, great. Took a while to find the room like I said instructions were vague and no signs. First night was cool, we caught the hotel bar's happy hour with Nelson, drinks was real affordable and food was cheaper than the menu price. All good. Got to the room that night to discover out TV wasn't working, they said they would send someone up to the room but never did. Btw, there are no books in the room with how to operate the phone, important numbers, and wifi so I had to go down to the front desk for a lot of this. Next day we call again to get someone to look at TV, they did. Long story short we switch rooms, when I called and asked for a cart to be delivered they said the bellboy left for the day so I'd have to go and get it myself. Made no sense to do all that if I had to make 2 trips anyway. Last thing, the beach shuttle was non existent. We caught it once, and waited 30 min for it and then when we requested for it to come pick us up it never came. I get if there is no beach shuttle just don't advertise like there is one or have us waiting for one, knowing good and well it's not coming. OVERALL solid stay, none of the things mentioned above ruined our trip but they did stick out. I was sad to no get "The Mill" service that reviews raved about due to transition in hotel management.
