The Mill Resort & Suites

Aruba, Caribbean

The hotel

Like a row of sugar cubes topped with terracotta pyramids and garlanded with palm trees, Courtyard by Marriott Aruba Palm Beach (operating as The Mill Resort and Suites until November '18) appears quietly understated – but its spirit is something quite different. Cool off by one of the swimming pools, with exotic cocktails from Bang Gozza Bar and the most recent addition — Mango's swim-up bar. Making stays both fun and relaxing, they’ve added in treats from a new spa and fitness centre (part of a recent revamp which also saw a modern makeover of guest rooms) to late breakfasts at the weekend, served until noon so you can lie in. (Although, who wants a lie-in when the sands of Palm Beach are just a complimentary shuttle ride away?)

As the shuttle buss turned into the driveway of this white with green trim motel The driver said, “The Mills Resort,” and my heart dropped. I knew I would see Ashton Kutcher run out saying I had been Punked! I gathered my luggage and hesitantly found my way to the lobby. A couple stood before me and he asked the receptionist had his credit card been charged yet, the receptionist told him it hadn’t. He said thanks and looked at me and said good luck, I’m finding an Airbnb. So now it’s my to to approach the counter and she looked at me and said, “It’s much better than what you see.” So I continued to check in and proceeded to my assigned room. When I swiped my key card and opened the door, it was like WOW!!!!!!!!! I’ve always heard don’t judge a book by its cover, this room looked BRAND NEW and very modern. I was totally blown away! Later that evening I turned on the television and the opening screen said Marriott. I went to the counter and the receptionist explained that The Mills Resort is transitioning to a Courtyard Marriott. I was excited because I thought I could use my rewards, but I couldn’t-not until September. The rooms have a 50 inch TV with Netflix, refrigerator, microwave and a safe. The two pools have already been updated and are very nice. There’s a shuttle to the beach or you can walk. There’s a section of the beach for The Mills Resort-equipped an attendant and beach chairs. The resort is in close proximity of all the big resorts and all of the shops and nightlife. I walked the strip nightly from the resort. Overall for the price I paid, I think I got a great deal. If you’re booking, just be prepared for the exterior construction before you arrive. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with your rooms though. I’m told construction will be complete in September. Good luck and be prepared for how expensive Aruba is $$$$$. Read less

The Mill far exceeded my expectations for my stay. I believe that, for the price of the rooms, you won’t find a better value in the area. The Mill far exceeded my expectations for my stay. I believe that, for the price of the rooms, you won’t find a better value in the area. The resort has a beautiful pool area and is a very short walk (or shuttle) from palm beach. Once at the beach, there’s a dedicated beach area with an employee who provides you with loungers and palapas! What really made this stay great was the staff at the Mill. Everyone was always smiling and would go out of their way to help in any way. Especially the ladies at the front desk, they could not have been any nicer! There is still some construction going on for the renovation. However, the noise was minimal did not bother us. Just a tip, try to get a room on the beach side. The club next door does play music until late at night. While it’s not terribly loud, the bass did wake me up a few times. This is not the hotel’s fault at all as that club is not associated with the Mill. Thank you to all of the staff at the Mill for a fantastic stay! We will be staying at the Mill again! Read less

Our room was big and cleaned when we got there, however, room was never cleaned for the days that we stood there. we got cleaned towels because we asked for on the third day. It gets better, we had to call front desk first night due to broken AC. Someone from maintenance came over to fix it and told us first thing in the next morning AC would be fixed, guess what? no one came back next morning. Long story short had to call 3-4 times regarding same issue someone came to fix it unfortunately AC was on running until the day we check out (we couldn't sleep our room was freezing). No bed covers only blankets. No selfie mirror at the room, why not? room are so big!!! Only thing that kept us happy was the service and the people who work at the restaurant, the only restaurant they have because Resort is under renovation, the server were so nice to us, also food was delicious EVERYTHING (Fresh BURGER so good!!) Shuttle to the beach so fun Jose was very nice and safe trips, Happy hour at the pool is must bartender was friendly and drinks were very good 5 star on that. Read less

The staff is very friendly and accommodating, they even upgraded our room to one of the renovated ones upon our arrival. While it wasn't in the pool courtyard (rooms yet be renovated), we were very happy with the cleanliness and modern feel of the room. The shower was HUGE! I'd guess the shower was about 6' x 4' with a rain shower head as well as hand held shower mounted on the wall. The pool area is really nice. Towel service is free. There's a shuttle that takes you to the beach every 15 minutes, or it's about a 5 minute walk. The location is great for the price, a 5 - 10 minute walk to the main restaurant/shopping area of Palm Beach. Read less
