We did the early check in using the app. We did not get the points offered for doing so, nor was there a ‘priority’ check in assigned at the desk. At arrival we were ‘upgraded’ but the room was humid smelling. The carpet was soaking wet. We spent the night at it because we were exhausted. Asked to change room the next day and we got a pretty similar room but this time dry at least. The look of both rooms was simple but they felt old. The restaurants reservation system was very tricky to navigate despite having their schedule. The app did not work and you had to wake up super early to make a reservation because by 9 am they were already fully booked. Food was pretty acceptable but when we went to the Italian restaurant, the pizza was a complete disappointment. It tasted like cheap pre made pizza, not something I would expect from an ‘italian’ restaurant. Part of the services we out of the all inclusive package which makes no sense. If I have to pay extra for so many things it defeats the purpose of paying for an all inclusive. Finally, the attention at the entire place was border line rude. People seemed completely miserable working there and treated the guests very poorly. I’m not asking them to roll a red carpet for everything, but eye contact and simple manners where the least they could provide. Every time we had a question or needed something it made us feel like we were bothering them, when their job is to assist us. Seriously, most of the staff there was very rude. After the first 2 days we wanted to leave and look for another place to stay, but I was not willing to waste all the money we had pre paid. Thank god you had a nice beach otherwise, this hotel is destined to go out of business. Read less

Our stay is June 29th - June 27th, 2019 Front desk clueless. Total run around on check in. Food average at best and rooms smells of mildew. Staff and bars are friendly Nice beach with amazing sand but worth the $$$$? Better for sure going to Mexico This hotel is a big No. 👎

Our overall holiday experience at Melia was OK....to begin with. We are pretty easygoing, travel internationally often and fun loving but had to write a review following our experience. The reception staff really don’t care once you have that all inclusive wristband on and they have your money, just no interest or concern...quite surprising for an international resort and not a great representation of the fabulous people of the Bahamas. Oh and if you lose the wristband it’s $200USD to replace. Some staff are amazing, the entire resort should be as friendly and welcoming as the housekeeping team and drink servers around the pool, whoever is managing them is doing a great job and should manage the entire resort staff wise. Some bar staff in the lobby are just rude and don’t want to be there at all but other shifts are so much fun and joking around, it’s the luck of the draw but ruins the whole vibe at the main bar when bad. The Grille beach restaurant by the pools (day only), excellent and friendly staff everyday....all restaurants in the resort should learn from them. The basic food is also 100% better than the mass style produced food served in the onsite evening restaurants. We just wished they were open in the evenings. We had dinner at the Asian fusion restaurant, Nikkei one night and despite making a reservation at 8.00am as required, we were waiting 45 minutes for our table in the evening with rude attitude from front of house. Once seated it took quite a while for drinks to arrive and then the food...oh dear the food, really just a comedy of errors. It was terrible and tasteless...tempura vegetables was our first dish to arrive and we had to send it back as it was stone cold. From there we had dishes that just didn’t arrive, and meals (cuts of meat) that were not as per the menu, a server that didn’t make eye contact and was more worried about what was happening at the entrance. The seafood rice main was inedible, we left 3 of them uneaten. The table next to us (family of 4) received their deserts and were so shocked at what they received they were looking at us in disbelief and we all started laughing at the bizarre situation and left with full plates of food on the table. I had to politely say something to reception and they said they’ll have the Food and Beverage Manager contact us but that never happened, no surprise. The onsite Starbucks has disgusting service. Staff are sitting out the back in a small office on the phone and when you have to ask over the counter for assistance after patiently waiting they are rude; no greeting; no enthusiasm; no eye contact; no name taken and just generally like we have completely ruined their day and their social media time by buying a coffee. @starbucks we highly recommend you have a secret shopper/undercover staff experience this site (it’s site number 76, so shocked we looked it up) at different times of the day and report back as it’s certainly not representative of what we have experienced with your brand, oh and the ‘display’ food looks like it has been there for years. Now, not that this will be everyone’s experience and I don’t wish it upon you, on the last 2 days stay an extremely large and overbearing conference came in a took over the resort, public areas and food stations, ranting and cheering and sucked all the Wifi. They had set up corporate stations and events all around the resort with flags and T-shirts and suddenly our relaxed environment becomes a conference of loud happy hand clappers. All the holiday guests we’re in the middle of it with no escape and the resort has turned its focus onto the conference that have different colour wristbands. We immediately made plans for dinner at the casino next door to escape it all, even though we were all inclusive. By the way, the Casino has great bars and restaurants...if you want a quality meal head over there but it is a little expensive as you would expect. We caught the shuttle that states in the info pack its not included in the all inclusive package but we got it for free without a problem (runs every 15 minutes). We eventually checked out and all we got was a short “ok you don’t owe anything, your free to go”, no thank you, we hope you enjoyed your stay, come again or how was everything? Very disappointing! My wife and I did an eight day sailing trip from Great Exuma island up to Nassau. We arrived Saturday morning and had decided to stay one night in Nassau and fly out on Sunday, so we made reservations ahead of time at Melia. We've never stayed at one of their properties before so we were pleasantly surprised the moment we walked into the lobby. It's an all inclusive so once you're checked in, food and drinks are included. They have several great looking restaurants. We originally made reservations that night for the Italian restaurant but decided to go for Sushi instead so we ate at their Asian restaurant. Great service and food. We met the manager of Melia and let him know how great the two ladies behind the sushi counter were. They have a long wide beach, lots of chairs and umbrellas. Three swimming pools and several easy to get to bars also. Wish we could have stayed longer here. Great property and we'll consider MELIA resorts next time we travel. Read less
