The Beach at Atlantis

Bahamas, Caribbean

The hotel

Travellers flock to the Bahamas for two things – the beauty of its beaches and the attractions of Atlantis – and, as its name implies, The Beach at Atlantis delivers both. Anchored to Atlantis Beach, it’s claimed one of the best sand-side spots at this Bahamian mega-resort. The casual-coastal hotel frames the pool, where water cascades over boulders, palm trees burst from the sun terrace, and sea views stretch out as you swim. Staying at The Beach also gives you the key to Atlantis’s world-famous features, like its marine lagoons, 141-acre Aquaventure water park, and 40 bars and restaurants – with Casual, Gourmet, and Premium dining plans to pick from.

We are a family of 4 with two kids ages 12 and 15. We LOVED our experience at the Atlantis and were especially happy with our choice to stay at the Beach hotel. The Beach hotel is right on the water and our water view room view was spectacular. We had a small balcony which fit two chairs and a table and was perfect to enjoy some peaceful time in the mornings and evenings. The Beach is the furthest property from the main attractions so you will have to walk a ways to the water park area. We didn't mind the walk and enjoyed it. The Beach is older but it was very clean, had an empty refrigerator to fill up with drinks and leftovers, the carpet looked new, bed was nice and bathroom was fine, just out of date. You are paying less for this hotel so it's not as fancy. The Coral and the main towers are beautiful. The main tower, the Royal, has a stunning lobby, gorgeous acquarium, very high end shops and restuarants and is connected to the casino. It is also more centrally located and feels busier. I liked that the Beach felt like a beach hotel and had some character. The employees were very helpful and friendly. There is a snack shack just outside that sells burger, etc. and an ice cream store. You are connected to the Coral just steps away. The Marina with additional restaurants and shops is steps away. We loved eating at the Burger Shack (less expensive), Virgils (share the large expensive portions!) and went across the street to Margaritaville which was great and then took a cab over the bridge to the Poop Deck which is on another Marina and was GREAT - cab was only $15. Very safe as well. We went snorkeling with Stuart Cove's. I HIGHLY recommend this - great operator, 3 snorkeling stops, friendly, fun, organized. We saw beautiful fish and sharks!! My kids did the Sea Lion experience at the resort. This was a HIGHLIGHT!! Well worth every penny. Parents can join the experience at a short distance for $35 (I couldn't touch the sea lion but I observed everything). Definitely book one of the sea lion, dolphin, ray experiences. They do a nice job and they take great care of the animals. The aquariums and pools with fish, sharks, turtles, rays, etc. are located throughout the resort and add such a nice element. We went to look at all of them at least once a day. BEAUTIFUL!! I wish we could have stayed longer and I hope to go back! Don't miss this amazing experience!! Read less

Didn't stay at this particular hotel but I was nearby. Spent hours in the delicious, cooling water, no choice it was too,too hot to do anything else. However, be prepared to spend $ it is a pricey spot. Otherwise I had a lovely time doing nothing but bathing and sun fun!

Inside of the room was fine but it could use an update. The shower did not drain properly and the paint on doors was peeling off in sheets, as well as the railings were all rusted. Also the grounds had trash and debris and we hardly every saw anyone working or cleaning up. The vegetation was overgrown and the pools with the sealife seemed dirty and sad. The turtle area smelled horrible. Overall we did not spend a ton of time in the room so it was tolerable. Read less

Worth spending time there to get out of the crowds at the other sites. Read less
