The Beach at Atlantis

Bahamas, Caribbean

The hotel

Travellers flock to the Bahamas for two things – the beauty of its beaches and the attractions of Atlantis – and, as its name implies, The Beach at Atlantis delivers both. Anchored to Atlantis Beach, it’s claimed one of the best sand-side spots at this Bahamian mega-resort. The casual-coastal hotel frames the pool, where water cascades over boulders, palm trees burst from the sun terrace, and sea views stretch out as you swim. Staying at The Beach also gives you the key to Atlantis’s world-famous features, like its marine lagoons, 141-acre Aquaventure water park, and 40 bars and restaurants – with Casual, Gourmet, and Premium dining plans to pick from.

Don't understand why they don't update this section of the Atlantis Hotel. Extremely old building, elevator barely closes, the musty smell from dampness lingers in the hallways and the room. Lamp by the bed had so much dust on it, bathroom was nothing to write home about, it was literally a typical Days Inn room. You have specify if you want an ocean view or not, not knowing this, we got a horrible view - rooftop. Our friends next door to us, as soon as they entered their room, the bottles of water were open. They happened to see a housekeeper in the hallway and told her about it, she said they had to contact the front desk, and guess what, they still got charged for it. Taxis don't come up to the entrance of the hotel, they stop at the bottom of the street ;and you have to walk up. Wouldn't waste my money on staying there again, would stay at the Marriott/Courtyard closer to town which is directly across the street from the beach. Read less

We went to Atlantis 6 years ago when the kids were in 5th/7th grade and returned this spring break when they were in 10th/12th grade. The facilities are exactly the same.(therefore could use some updating) but the meal plans have changed drastically. I know we are choosing the most budget friendly lodgings so I knew not to expect glamourous surroundings in the room but having gone multiple places in between the 2 trips I'd have to say pick somewhere else unless you just have to go here one time. This time the old teens were happy by the pools, lazy river and sea. The need for the constant stimulation of the waterslides and swimming with dolphins etc was gone. So, for the price we could go many places. I find the food prices to be high and the service meh. They were much happier in Cancun, Dominican Republic and cruises to have my business There are fewer food options, a mandatory service charge everywhere/everything so there is no motivation to please you or make the experience good. There was one waiter at Virgil's BBQ who was exeptional and we tipped extra. Our best meals were at Frankie Gone Bananas but the service was mediocre and Virgils. I thought the buffet price was completely outrageous ($65/person BEFORE the mandatory tax and tip) but we did do it one night. I could not understand the ton of families in there for the food- literally some of everything, nothing outstanding. I consider us good sports/low maintenance travelers but we won't be back. I choose other experiences for the price. Read less

we had booked a "terrace view"- see the photos for what we were given- looked directly onto old rotting concrete- just terrible. This is what a "terrace view" is according to the hotel reception. When I complained about this reception couldn't let us look at any other room but told me we would simply have to accept the move to another one if we didnt like the one we were given. Couldn't/Wouldn't tell us if the outlook was the same. Eventually was called a day and a half later after I had given negative expedia feedback about checkin advising they could move us. As we only had one day left and our stuff was unpacked I declined this - they said they would talk to management and get back to us. We were still waiting for this return call at checkout. The hotel itself is old and in bad need of refreshment. The taxi drop off and pick up is not in the beach hotel itself but in the Cove hotel next to this. There is no-one to help with bags and you have to move them yourselves the 300 metres between them. That wouldn't be so bad if it was tiled but hard work dragging across carpet. Nothing is close. Getting coffee even involves the same journey. Overpriced for what it is as is the whole of Atlantis. The beach is completely packed and not enticing. the place is overrun with children who seem to have little supervision. Walls are paper thin and the family next to us seemed happy to let their kids bang against the walls night and day. Sheets were coffee stained ( hope that's what it was). We wont be back Read less

We stayed for 9 days and really enjoyed our stay. Lots of walking. Biggest bonus was Barbara our maid on 4th floor room 4158. She is awesome, friendly & helpful. What a plus & joy to interact with. 💜
