Nearly forgot to write this review, in fact the hotel was a Rex resort when we went! However, we stayed for 14 nights and can remember what it was like very well. We had booked the top floor of the premium rooms, in the small building to the right of the beach and my oh my was the view to die for! The room was huge and had everything we needed, but that view was worth any extra money spent - we checked the prices of the hotels either side for such a view and the were astronomical. The food was pretty much ok, nothing special and the a la carte nights were quite funny as the service was so haphazard, but hey its the Caribbean and it's not exactly a top dollar hotel. The grounds were nicely kept, although the frontage facing the beach not very attractive but maybe this has been addressed by the new owners. The beach is in an absolute prime location and the sea a bit kinder than the south west coast where we've stayed before. However, I do hope they got rid of the old beach staff as most of them were smoking weed all day long in small hurdles near the hut, some dodgy activities were definitely going down. They were quite unhelpful too if you needed to find a subbed or brolly. There are some great restaurants in the area and expensive shops if that's your thing, it feels safe to wander the main streets at night. Although I'd say steer clear of the guys standing around trying to get you to hire their services to Oystins.... Not sure if we would go to that hotel again, especially if it hasn't changed that much since it became Starfish owned, but we had a good time all told and the cost of the 2 weeks was way cheaper than most all inclusive in the island. We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday in a period which was considered to be in their rainy season. Only generally rained for 10 mins then dried up. We took a trip on a boat to see the turtles and fish. Well worth a trip. Definitely recommend this place as the staff are so friendly and the food is good. 😄

We knew Starfish Discovery Bay was a three star resort. All the staff we met were all five star. The beach and ocean were fantastic.. Yes, there were vendors selling trips and souvenirs but they left you alone when you told them you were not interested. The food tasted good but there was limited choice. It became repetitive after a few days.

Very clean rooms, well maintained garden area and pool. Staff doing something every day maintenance wise. Lovely pool, and to top it all the beach 100 yards away. Very pleased all ways round and I cannot fault 1 thing. Would definitely come back. I just hope when refurbished, the staff are the same as they made the place 😊 and that the way its ran remains the same. Great value for money!!! Thanks guys, keep up the good work. Read less

We have just returned from the resort on oct 28th. First off before going to this resort I did my own research and knew what to expect. If others do not they can't blame the resort if everything does not meet their standards. Now what i thought of the resort. It was very good. The grounds were cleaned all day and the gardens are kept nice. Now we know the resort is sold and closing so they are not going to put tens of thousands into new flower beds and excotic flowers. The entrance is clean simple and plain. The front desk area is very comfortable clean and inviting. It has couches to relax on while waiting and very comfortable chairs to sit in. Check in was quick and easy we paid our room tax and deposit in no time. We received a welcome drink of rum punch or a drink of your choice. The ladies at the front desk were very polite and made sure our group of seven was taken care of. We were asked if we needed help to our rooms but we decided to go out on our own only to have a polite young man show us to our rooms. Rooms: As others have stated the rooms are dated. I knew about this but I also did my research. The rooms had a safe in the closet with digital control. We had a king size bed that was probably bigger than a king at least it felt that way. Our room was on the bottom floor room fifty nine i believe. The sliding door was a little loose but no big deal no bugs no critters. There is two night stands a desk and a chair in the room as well a mini fridge. We also had a small t.v on the wall but we only watched it in the morning before breakfast. The bathroom was dated but clean. We had a tub/shower updated sink and mirror. The hair dryer must have worked well as my wife never complained. The room was cleaned everyday and very comfortable. The only thing i wished is the mini fridge had a few beers and water in it daily. Food: The food is excellent we as a group of seven always had enough to eat all times of the day. Breakfast was good all the standard foods eggs multiple way and cooked to order. French toast, pancakes, sausage, fruit the list goes on. The buffet is not massive and overwhelming. Lunch was served by the beach and made to order items were all excellent. On sundays lunch is served in the main dining area and was fine as well. Dinner was always great fish, pasta, salads more than enough to eat any night of the week. The dress code is in affect for supper being respectable shorts and always a collared shirts as I got in trouble one night my fault. A la carte nights men are to wear pants and collared shirts. The restaurant never had any issues seating us a large group as we always sat in the same spot. Thanks Stanley! Beach: Only one word Awsome one of the nicest i have been to. The water was easy to get into gentle slopes and warm. If you are looking for waves and such you will have a easier time in a bathtub lol. The sand is soft and white there is a few rocks but nothing you need water shoes for. As far as vendors on the beach most will walk away when told no but some can be persistent. Two men will be trying to sell you excursions, jet skis and all kinds of water activities. One is Lorenzo and other guy call himself pineapple head. I had an altercation on the beach with pineapple head it wasn't nice. He basically demanded we go on a trip with him because we spoke to him and a war of words began after he wouldn't leave us alone. If you choose to support either one please let it be Lorenzo. In conclusion I would recommend this resort if the price is right. But please do your research before booking. The staff are fantastic and will do what they can to please. Afew I would like to thank are Stanley in the restaurant and Kemar and Jamal fantastic work thanks again. Read less
