This was the most outdated hotel I have ever stayed in. WiFi was almost nonexistent and the room required renovation, especially the bathroom. We visted Discovery Bay four years ago, the hotel needed an update then but even more so now. The rooms and hotel are lovely and clean but very very shabby, especially the bathrooms. The tables at the outdoor eating area look as if they are falling to bits, although we did notice some of these were being replaced. We ate A La Carte three times and on one occasion there was a hole in the tablecloth. The Managers Cocktail Party, which I think lasted all of half an hour, last time we went the Manager made the time to speak to everyone even if it was briefly, this time the Manager was with the same couple for the duration, we didn't like to interupt !! On our third day we were asked if we had been to the hotel before why did we not have gold wristbands ??? We were told that if you had been before that we should have had wine and chocs in room.....although we had our wristbands changed no wine or chocs were seen Having made the negative notes above, the hotel is in a beautiful location and the staff very friendly and helpful, food is also very good. Holetown is a brilliant location for shops, eating out and central. We will return. Read less

Although I understand that the rate is great for the location in Barbados, the hotel is a super deal, do not expect much of the hotel because it is old and needs renovations but this put aside IT IS A DEAL ! This being said, all the surveys I read before my departure mentioned the hotel, I was okay with this, I new what I was getting, the same suveys sad that the staff was friendly...NOTHING FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH !!! We felt we were disturbing them everywhere we went on the resort. NO ONE IS LAUGHING, except between them. A very small example : My wife asked for mustard for lunch, the person just turn around and was cleaning the counter, so my wife asked again, very politely, can I have mustard please, the person turned around abruptly and said: '' I'M GETTING IT'' with a look on her face. From then on, we were kind of on edge. We are very outgoing people, my wife and I, and I like to think that we are pleasant to talk to. We travel a lot, it was our fourth trip since december. If you ask, would we go back ? YES, because the deal is good and the food is good. And I would like to see if the mood improved. It is so important to have a sincere smile when we get to the counter at breakfast, lunch or dinner or at the bar in the afternoon. The employees do not seem to like what they are doing, unfortunate...I own two resturant in Montreal, the stress is very high and my employees, most of them, have a smile most of the time, being in Barbados should be pleasant for the employees Read less

During the temporarily pool closure, arrangements have been made for guests to use the pool at Mango Bay (next door to Starfish Discovery Bay)." Can you confirm the work will be completed on time and the pool up to temperature? We arrive on April 30th. If not, will we have to go back and forth for drinks between hotels or will bar arrangements be made as well? Thanks ! Read less
