We loved this hotel - small, friendly and affordable. It's a little tired in places but as soon as you walk in you know you are in the Caribbean. So many hotels are too big and impersonal and you could be anywhere in the world - not so at this hotel. However the hotel is closing next year for refurbishment and more rooms are going in plus other changes - this will change the whole feel of the hotel and will no doubt be a lot more expensive which is a shame. Meals as normal all inclusive but is also worth venturing out and visiting other places, as many of those that stayed did. The Al a carte evening food was lovely. The room is clean and comfortable. The staff really friendly and helpful. Tour guide at the hotel really good. Highly recommend lorenzo and Marc for a boat trip. They were really patient with me when we went to swim with the turtles.. Amazing. The hotel, as others have said, has little tired areas. But, it's great value, location and the beach is great. If you want to watch sport, highly recommend surfside. A great atmosphere and the list of games are on the door. The staff are really good and it's great for snacks too. A wonderful holiday. Loved Barbados. Read less

Had a lovely stay at the hotel. The pool was closed for the first three days of our trip which was a little disappointing as I don’t like the beach. Other than that, food was great and the staff were simply amazing, they couldn’t do enough for you. Thanks for an enjoyable stay

OK the buildings are tired, tiles are chipped, but that really is not important. The hotel is closing for a complete refurb April 2020 for unknown period. Even the staff do not know if their jobs will make it. I would say this hotel represents superb value for now. Nobody was disappointed! Read less

Just returned from a lovely week at the Starfish Discovery Bay. We had a seafront club room, on the first floor - and waking up to the sound of waves swishing on the beach was a real treat. As other visitors have said, the hotel decor is tired - but the rooms are kept very clean and the staff are so nice it makes up for that! The all inclusive is very good, the buffet always had a fresh cooked dish, with local seafood such as grilled marlin, and good salads/veg. The drinks selection is great, including fantastic cocktails such as pina colada and again the bar staff were very amenable. The A la Carte nights were good too, white linen and table service and the food was extra special on these nights. The most outstanding aspect of the hotel is the fabulous beach. Clear turquoise water leading to a small man made reef which was attracting lots of colourful fish, bring your snorkel! No need for beach shoes. The hotel is being refurbished next year, at which point the price will no doubt go up in line with the other hotels along this stretch of coast. I hope they keep the same staff and vibe when this happens. I would go again. Tomorrow! Read less
