Worthing Court

Barbados, Caribbean

The hotel

A hop from the sands of Worthing Beach, this is a slick little set up for those wanting a private bolthole, just a few minutes’ stroll from a top Bajan beach. The setting also puts you around five minutes from party-central, St Lawrence Gap, and 10 minutes from Oistins (a must on Friday nights, when the Fish Fry draws in the crowds). You can whip up your own Bajan bites in your apartment’s fully decked out kitchen – but the local dining venues and poolside treats of Worthing Court’s own restaurant may both be too tempting.

Don't miss the Tuesday night meal and live entertainment with Mr Impact. Joy and the kitchen and bar staff are so lovely. The cleaning team and the maintenance team were also really fantastic. The apartments are clean, fully equipped in the kitchen, lovely balcony and there is a laundry that you can use (pay with tokens from reception) if you need to do any washing. Two supermarkets are within 5 - 7 minutes walk, with one of them being even closer than that. Cash machines, petrol stations, bus stops, bars, restaurants and even a church all within that same distance. We also met the nicest people staying here. It was such a nice place to be during the Christmas holidays. I could go on! I'll happily stay at Worthing court on future visits to Barbados! Read less

We are regular visitors to Barbados, and this was the first time staying at Worthing Court Apartments. We booked online , which was a very easy process, and reserved a One Bedroomed Junior Suite, as the photographs and description of this ground floor apartment suited our needs, and we were very much looking forward to our visit. Upon arrival, we paid in full at check in, as expected, and were then taken around by the pool towards the suite we thought we were going to, but were then told we'd been " upgraded " to a One Bed Standard Apartment , 413 , which was situated on the top floor. I said No to that, as I expressly requested the Junior Suite because I can't do high floor apartments, as I have a fear of heights. The Receptionist ( apologies for not remembering her name ), seemed a bit put out, and told us to wait by the pool for her to sort something else out. We waited about another 30 minutes, thoroughly fed up, as we were tired from travelling, hot and needing a drink ! When she came back, we were given the key to a ground floor standard one bed apartment, next to the pool, and I mentioned the Junior Suite we'd booked, but to no avail ! We were not given any explanation as to why we were not given what we'd booked, and , to our knowledge, there were suites available at the time. We were very disappointed with what we saw as a basic , fairly tired looking apartment, but accepted it because were exhausted by then , and just wanted to settle. Having said all that, our stay was okay, the apartment was kept spotlessly clean and fesh smelling by the amazing Ladies from housekeeping, and all of the hardworking staff at Worthing Court are lovely and friendly. We didn't use the pool, but did go to the bar and restaurant a few times, and enjoyed the entertainment there too. All in all, we would say that Worthing Court apartments would be a great place for first time , or long stay visitors to Barbados, but we would probably not stay there again, as we very rarely stay at the same place more than once. The Worthing Court Apartments and Hotel is perfect for those vacationers that have been to Barbados before and do not need the "guided tour" of the island's greatest attractions. If you have love Barbados and want to keep coming back year after year, then this is a hidden gem. The location is walking distance to the beach, shopping, markets, and lots of dining. The Worthing offers many on-site amenities such as a pool, outdoor bar and dining, game room, and laundry. The rooms are average size and include a living room area, bedroom, and a kitchenette. My wife and I stayed here for the week of Christmas, 2019. Initially we were a bit disappointed in our choice as we are usually accustomed to the all-inclusive, pampering from the big resorts. We realized this we were not going to get towels folded into exotic animals or mints awaiting us on the bed when we returned from our daily excursions; there would be no room service for late night snacking; there would be no mini fridge stocked with $6 pretzels and $10 Cokes. However, when I stopped to consider the average guest of the Worthing is not looking for all the high-cost frills, just a safe, fun place to relax and stay while you enjoy your favorite parts of the island, I realized what a great find it is. The staff at the Worthing is friendly and respectful, especially Muriel. You may need to ask for a few things such as wash clothes, coffee, kitchen gadgets, etc. The beds are made up with a single sheet so if you need the comfort of a blanket you will need to ask and they will provide one. The rooms are a bit dated, but the grounds around the Worthing are kept clean and tidy. Most of the other guests seemed to be British, which makes sense considering the island's history, and they have been coming back for years. In summary, if you've been to Barbados before (or are first time visitor who blazes your own path) and know what, where, when, and how to do your favorite things, then the Worthing is definitely a high recommendation.
