Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The hotel

Aptly named, this Unlimited-Luxury® resort is a dream come true! Almost everything is included, including gourmet meals, top-shelf drinks and sporting amenities galore. Accommodation is also second to none, each room is graciously appointed and luxurious equipped with plenty of space to relax in. Make your holiday extra special and upgrade to a room that includes Preferred Club Privileges, you’ll feel like a true VIP! Water sports are on the agenda all day every day. There are also plenty of dry-land activities but the jewel in the crown has got to be the free-form pool, it’s incredible. One of the largest in the Dominican Republic, it stretches from the lobby all the way down to the pristine beach and is sure to be a hit with just about everyone. A visit (or two) to the world-class spa is a must, indulge in a chocolate body wrap or enjoy a water lily after-sun soothing wrap — sublime! The kids are in for a treat too. At the Explorer’s Club time flies with treasure hunts to keep them busy, sandcastle contests, hiking and arts and crafts. Teens aren’t left out either; they’ve their very own place to hang — the Core Zone — complete with rock climbing wall, basketball, video games and disco nights. The dining at Dreams is unrivalled; there are so many restaurants to choose from. As for the bars, there are ten of them, some cosy and laid-back, others with a more happening vibe. And last but not least, don your glad rags and head to the casino for a night full of sophistication and a sprinkle of good luck.

The room was a little dated but nice and the maid kept it spotless. The resort is getting a little tired in some places but the grounds and the resort are beautiful. The pool runs almost the full length and there is plenty of chairs with shade for everyone. It was quite warm while we were there but the pool and ocean was always refreshing. The preferred section of the beach had a lot of beds to choose from. No problem getting one. The best thing about the resort was the service, all the waitresses did a great job of keeping you hydrated all week long. One of our favorite thing was the preferred restaurant for breakfast and lunch, they knew to bring us mimosa’s in the morning and vino blanco at lunch. The service was outstanding. We didn’t eat at the buffet at all so I can’t comment on it . But all of the other restaurants were very good with the exception of the pizza place. I would go back here in a heartbeat. Read less

We spent 11 nights at Dreams Punta Cana at the end of November to celebrate my partners birthday. This was our first visit to Dreams although we have been to Punta Can before. When we checked in we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to Preferred but given the considerable extra cost we declined. Our room was in block 2 overlooking the garden. Although the room was comfortable it was very tired especially the bathroom and could certainly have done with a makeover. That said it was always clean and the bed was very comfortable. The first night we were awoken several times in the night by noisy (and by the sounds of it drunk) guests and we wondered if we had made the right choice. The noise isn’t helped by the design of the corridors which are long and built with tiles which naturally make it sound noisier than it actually is. After the first night however, things were better and we were only woken up a couple of other nights by noise. Apart from the room everything else we found to be pretty good. The pool area and pool itself were lovely and never seemed that crowded. The beach was beautiful and there were always plenty of sun beds available. There was some seaweed on the beach some days, but the hotel staff worked hard to keep the beach clean. We ate most of our meals in the main buffet restaurant World Café and never got bored of the food-there was always lots of choice and the drinks service was quick. It was nice being seated by the waiting staff most times and good that the staff at the door made you use the hand gel to prevent the spread of germs. We only tried one of the al la carte restaurants which we found disappointing- this was the Italian restaurant near the beach. They did not have the starter available that I wanted and so I chose garlic mushrooms which were unlike any garlic mushrooms I have ever had. My partner chose a tuna pizza and when it arrived there was no tuna on it at all only boiled egg. Apparently, they had run out of tuna so had used egg instead. If they had told us upfront my partner could have chosen some else but this was not mentioned at all which was frustrating. This put us off using any more of the al la carte’s. Drinks service at the bars was good and it was great being able to have branded spirits in all bars. The house wine was drinkable as was the sparkling wine. We preferred the lobby bar out of all the bars as it tended to be quieter in the evenings-the outdoor bar was ok but could be noisy when they had entertainment on. A special shout out to Carlos in the lobby bar who always served us with a warm smile and welcome. We only watched a couple of shows and these were ok although did seem very similar in output. We did not join in any of the day time activities. As others have mentioned there were lots of vendors around the resort trying to sell you trips etc but a quick no thanks soon got rid of them. The worst ones were the vendors who came into the hotel twice a week to sell souvenirs-they were very aggressive and we soon worked out routes around the hotel which avoided them which really shouldn’t be the case. The staff all work very hard at this hotel and everyone we encountered was always very friendly and welcoming and worked hard to ensure that you were having a good time. Overall despite a few minor niggles we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return in the future. Read less

When we arrived we were given a glass of champagne on arrival which was lovely, then we went to the room and waited half an hour for hour luggage, we would’ve just preferred to take our own luggage to the room but they wouldn’t let us. The resort is amazing and the pool is huge!! The only downside about the pool is it is only 3ft throughout, they say it’s due to child safety but it would be better to have a deeper part for adults. The rooms are very clean and nice, the bed is very big and comfy, personally I don’t think the rooms are dated that’s just people being picky. The beach is amazing!! There is a grill on the beach and we got hotdogs for dinner most days they were very nice. Only 2/3 restaurants a night were open and the buffet was always one of them, this was only due to the lack of people here as kids have gone back to school so there isn’t as many people here at this time of year which is nice. The buffet have a good selection of foods for everyone, personally I think it is nicest at dinner. I didn’t like any of the breakfast foods so I had cereal or eggs on toast each day. The best restaurant was the Italian one next to the beach, the pizzas were amazing!!! I can’t fault the resort it is perfect, the only flaw I would say is the entertainment team are VERY VERY VERY persistent!!!! That’s good for people who want to take part, but we came for a chilled holiday. We tell them everyday we have come to relax and if you don’t take part they pretty much call you boring. If I wanted to play water polo or dance lessons in the pool, I would’ve gone to kids club😂 they get quite annoying to be honest. Another thing is you can’t do anything without being harassed, usually by people who don’t work in the hotel, trying to sell you things. On a Thursday lots of stalls are set up selling the same stuff as in jewelry and cigars, we were just trying to walk to our room and we got stopped 4 times in a row and our building is the closest to the lobby!!! One guy put a necklace on my necklace and told my boyfriend to pay over 100 dollars for it after I said I didn’t like it, he wouldn’t take no for an answer and ended up taking $46 out my boyfriends HANDS and told us to come back and pay more later when I said I DIDNT WANT IT!! Since then we have had to be brutal and tell them we don’t like the stuff or ignore them as it happens every single day. I loved everything apart from the entertainment staff and sales people. I would probably come here again but I’d prefer to stay somewhere different as after a few nights there isn’t much to do and the latest bar that’s open shuts at 1am. There is also no air on in any bars so we couldn’t stay out and drink the way we usually do. Thank you for an amazing experience. Read less

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing fortnight at Dreams Resort and Spa, Punta Cana. The whole site is modelled with relaxation in mind, but for us the beach was the star attraction. Swept clean of seaweed every morning, it is immaculate and uncrowded. We especially loved the area set aside for 'Preferred Club Members', which offers luxurious sunbeds hidden in the shade of palm trees, right opposite the section of beach set aside for swimmers. This area was managed with charm and efficiency by the delightful Jean Carlos, who made every one of his customers feel welcome and thoroughly pampered...the perfect host in every way! So, our recommendation is to pay the little bit extra for Preferred Club membership, and get yourselves down to the beach! Read less
