The hotel

Whichever room you decide to stay in at this iconic hotel, you’re going to feel like a rock star — guaranteed! Spacious, indulgent, decadent — those are all words that can be used to describe accommodation here, with double hydro tubs standard throughout. Feel like a superstar, however, in the Rock Star Suite — not only is it huge, it contains drum kits and authentic memorabilia, two electric guitars courtesy of Aerosmith and Paul Stanley no less! Elsewhere in this incredible resort you’ll find 11 swimming pools, there’s the Family Pool, the Isla Pool with Latin-flavoured beats, the Central Pool where everyone gathers and the Sax Pool for peace and quiet. You can also work out to your hearts content at Body Rock fitness centre or chill at Rock Spa®, undoubtedly the finest in the Caribbean complete with hydrotherapy centre, lagoons, whirlpools, steam rooms and cutting edge ice room. Whilst parents are at play, the little ones are too, at their very own kids' club featuring educational, interactive and all-out fun activities. Dining is fun at the Hard Rock too, with breakfast cocktails served at Cafetto. There’s also Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Japanese cuisine to get stuck into and bars galore with DJs, amazing views and top-shelf liquors. Not only boasting one of the biggest casinos in the Caribbean, there’s ORO Nightclub too — located inside the casino and most definitely the gem of the Caribbean!

I was looking forward to staying here. We have visited a few times in the past to the casino. Pros- service to room was quick and efficient. Casino is large Bed was comfy Breakfast buffet at Isla was decent Hibachi at Zen was just okay, no sauce and steak was really tuff Beach- it’s large, ocean is beautiful but rough. Sand is soft and rock free. You can walk a long way on the beach. No seaweed our week. We did see quite a bit on our walk tho. Cons- Music- I was looking forward to this and it was one of the reasons for staying here. Music We heard very little hard rock, some in casino(except Friday & Saturday) then it was thumping loud music, no melody. We heard a little around quiet pools but the thumping music was so loud at other pools it was ridiculous. When they had events which they did several daily between conventions and weddings etc. it was unbearably loud. I would not have cared But it was not hard rock music. It’s a cross between rap, hip hop and what I call thumping music. It was horrible. I was very disappointed. If they want to throw other music in here and there I’m okay with it but that’s not what was going on. Very little hard rock. Room-was large we had a Rock One bedroom suite. Balcony was large but if you want a ocean view you won’t get it here. Your views are a dirty large waterway , convention areas or pools. And for as much as you spend that’s not acceptable. We were in building 2b which is around the middle of resort. If I had to compare to any other place it’s like being 2 blocks off the ocean. It’s a crazy big resort.your far from everything no matter what section your in. Room needed updating, shower tiles missing , moldy and sloppy paint repairs. Now they advertise they have golf carts to take you places, this is true but they are usually crowded or your waiting on them. Also you have to be on your toes while walking because there are trucks, mopeds, golf carts everywhere so you are dodging them constantly. Dangerous for kids. Food- all I can say is blah. Very below average. We tried the Market buffet, same food every night. Very little seafood everywhere which is strange. If you want lobster you have to pay extra. Steaks are tuff. It had salmon and fish tacos that’s all. We ate at Zen which is the hibachi. It was just okay steak was awful. Isla at night is Mexican and it’s not worth your time. Isla for breakfast buffet is decent. Food truck was a joke. French fries were cold , nachos were stale. Toro- we did not try because steak was so bad at the other places we figured it would not be any better. No snacks given in the rooms. Ocean/beach- you are at the far end of Bavaro beach so it’s not as active. Grass huts over chairs are in need of repair. We were in the Rock Royality section which is a step up and the chairs on the beach are not comfortable. It’s two chairs molded together no cushions and really low to the ground. Pesty vendors constantly trying to sell you something too. We will not return to this hotel , to big, lousy food, and music blaring and horrible. Read less

Mega resort with large grounds. If you need to get around, rent the golf cart. Rock royalty upgrade not worthwhile. Food and services are average, some front office staff not friendly or helpful at all.

Dumy is the best. The food is great, the people are great. I cannot fault this place at all. I will be coming back. There is a variety of food to select. The food service is amazing. I enjoyed the days by the pool as there is a lot going on and I was never bored
