Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The hotel

Whichever room you decide to stay in at this iconic hotel, you’re going to feel like a rock star — guaranteed! Spacious, indulgent, decadent — those are all words that can be used to describe accommodation here, with liquor dispensers and double hydro tubs standard throughout. Feel like a superstar, however, in the Rock Star Suite — not only is it huge, it contains drum kits and authentic memorabilia, two electric guitars courtesy of Aerosmith and Paul Stanley no less! Elsewhere in this incredible resort you’ll find 11 swimming pools, there’s the Family Pool, the Isla Pool with Latin-flavoured beats, the Central Pool where everyone gathers and the Sax Pool for peace and quiet. You can also work out to your hearts content at Body Rock fitness centre or chill at Rock Spa®, undoubtedly the finest in the Caribbean complete with hydrotherapy centre, lagoons, whirlpools, steam rooms and cutting edge ice room. Whilst parents are at play, the little ones are too, at their very own kids' club featuring educational, interactive and all-out fun activities. Dining is fun at the Hard Rock too, with breakfast cocktails served at Cafetto. There’s also Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Japanese cuisine to get stuck into and bars galore with DJs, amazing views and top-shelf liquors. Not only boasting one of the biggest casinos in the Caribbean, there’s ORO Nightclub too — located inside the casino and most definitely the gem of the Caribbean!

From the minute we walked into the lobby, it went downhill. The computers—which had been down for 2 days already—were still down and yet, there was no contingency plan in effect. Staff was confused, and totally ill-equipped to handle the throngs of incoming guests who were expecting a vacation. We were VIP and it still took over an hour to check in. Our room was pedestrian at best, doors didn’t close, paint was chipping—we were lucky though, no bugs! As for the food...All-inclusive shouldn’t mean lack of variety or inability to get a dish prepared to your liking. Plus, restaurant wait times were absurdly long, just getting a drink took over 30 minutes. To be made to feel that their computer issue was my burden, was just an insult. How do you run a resort with not a single nod to the guest who has planned and paid to relax at your property? This place needs a serious overhaul to its physical plant and to its corporate mentality. As a guest who will never, ever return, nor visit another Hard Rock property because of this mess, the company needs to recognize just how badly they let down paying guests. Read less

This is probably the worst place I have ever been to. They had a computer problem and it took two hours to check-in. They acted as it's the guest's problem and not the hotel's. Consequently, no reservations accepted for meals and the hotel did nothing to make things better. Additionally, upon checkout, they asked to see my original payment receipt, which they never said to keep. I had also asked three times for the manager to call me and I am still waiting. Quite simply, a terrible experience with which the hotel did nothing to make it better. Read less

My partner's mother was taken sick at the last minute and she could not join me so I was a lone traveller. I got tired of explaining why I was booking stuff for one so in the end, just booked for two :-) It is not a bad hotel but having stayed in a few 5-star hotels this was average at best. The food was uninspiring, staff making oop oop noises and dancing about does not make food taste better. The best meal I had was a pizza nice and fresh. There were clouds of mosquitos in my room and as I am allergic to bites I did ask three times for the room to be fumigated. The spa was great, a highlight of the holiday by a mile. Also, the ice cream shop was good. The staff were OK as long as you are prepared to tip for everything. I am glad for the experience but for the price would not go again. Read less

Kids had bread for dinner because dinner took over two hours. Actually writing this as we still wait for our dinner, two hours after we have sat at out table! Read less

My husband and I decided to our wedding ceremony here and couldn't have asked for a better group to assist us (at the hotel itself). Only complaint I would have is 3 or 4 of the restaurants were closed the week we there. Food was good and entertainment was awesome! We went to a few shows and they were all very good. Would definitely return.
