The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The hotel

Concierge service. Michelin stars. Exclusive beach club. This shouldn’t be just how ‘the other half’ live — so The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real promises it all. With luxuries usually only expected by VIPs, it sits on one of the island’s most elite shores, Playa de Bávaro, and hosts a total of 10 dining venues across the resort, including an adults-only restaurant headed by Martin Barasategui, whose innovative flair has won him eight Michelin stars. Making it easy for you to feel indulged, days can be spent escaping it all around the pool, lazing on the uber-comfy poolside ‘Bali beds’, or taking a break from the sun with a class in floristry or a spot of wine tasting. The Reserve is designed for those who like to enjoy the finer things in life, and so you should!

I really wanted to give this place a five star rating, but I will not for two reasons: 1. At the time of checking into the hotel please read all documents properly before signing. They came to us with a few papers and asked us to sign. We were tired from the flight and really wanted to go to our room ASAP to unpack and begin our family vacation. Of course we did not care to read where we were signing and apparently we agreed to attend their sales presentation the next day. So they took us to another Melia resort for breakfast saying that they have a gift for us. There they did not let us eat until their stupid paper work formalities were complete. By the time our 18 month old had become very cranky and had lost his appetite. After an hour of waiting they assigned us a sales guy who took us for breakfast. After breakfast he showed us around and then took us to a meeting room. This is where they harassed us for more than an hour, trying to sell us their vacation packages. We kept telling him that we did not want to buy but God the guy was persistent. After wasting more than half our day we finally got to go back to our resort! Please read all documents carefully before signing. 2. The family concierge assigned to our family sucked. We did not see him after day 1. He had offered to make reservations for us at some restaurants, which he did not. The price of a family concierge is included in their package. He is supposed to make your trip worthwhile by assisting you with things like restaurant reservations, providing you with pool floats for kids, etc. - basically offering any facility available to you that you may not know about but would enjoy. I would rather have the price I paid for the family concierge refunded! Aside the resort is absolutely beautiful, the food was good, and all services except for the above were fantastic. Read less

Every morning when we went for breakfast and lunch, we were greeted by Yeuri Garcia and Domingo who treated us like family. By the time we sat down the coffee was poured and ready. I appreciate all they did during out time there. When we were by the pool, Nixon Bao and Renaldo were making sure we had what we needed and assisted us when we asked, they were great. Most important, Junior made sure I always had a drink and with so many people there I was amazed how fast and efficiently he worked. Thanks to the resort for all you did for us las week. MJ Read less

Leave your troubles at Home and relax, even for a short time.... We plan on going back which will be our fourth time at this resort. We cannot fault the facility and staff. When we do have a fault it is after thinking very hard and can only be considered a minor fault....

This is our second time here in the last year. We travel with out young child who just turned 2, and is not the most subtle human being out there. The reason why we keep coming back is because The reserve makes it so easy to be there with kids, yet not feel like you are in the middle of daycare. We arrived there on our childs birthday and there was a cake and balloons for him and sparkling wine for us! On Mother's day (which was also during our vk there) we came back from the beach to a bubble bath with rose petals!! Our family consierge Estefania (who is amazing btw) also babyset for us so we could have dinner in peace, without our child playing baby shark on loud on his iPad. It's a great place and we are hoping to be back shortly! Read less
