Our five-night stay at Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel in Grenada was absolutely wonderful. The quality of the accommodations, facilities and physical environment is excellent. The staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. They have an amazing chef, and the food is great, a cut above what one often finds at Caribbean resorts. The location is lovely, and only a short drive from the airport, though still with a feeling of seclusion. We would not hesitate to return or to recommend Calabash to others. Read less

Tomorrow, sadly, we head back to the UK after 10 wonderful days staying at the Calabash luxury boutique hotel in Granada. It’s really difficult to fault this family run hotel which is a series of beautifully appointed villas set in lovely grounds with a Gary Rhodes restaurant in the main building as well as a beach side restaurant with views out to the bay. The food in both restaurants is superb although for me I preferred the slightly less rich dishes on offer. The scuba club is also really well run With lots of different water sports to choose from. Although we didn’t do it, they also specialise in scuba diving. However we did go on an incredible snorkelling trip to a small nearby island and swam amongst the spotted eagle rays and sting rays. What makes a really good hotel inevitably comes down to the staff. At the Calabash they really are without exception excellent. Professional, discreet, efficient and above all, friendly and welcoming. We have now visited 10 Caribbean islands over the years and Granada is undoubtably one of the most beautiful. By and large it hasn’t yet been spoiled by too much tourism and the combination of fabulous beaches and unspoilt mountainous forest in the heart of the island make for spectacular scenery. It’s well worth making the effort and exploring the island whilst you are here. Read less

Before travelling we shortlisted and thoroughly researched four properties on Grenada (Mount Cinnamon, Silversands, Spice Island and the Calabash). Having seen each of them during our visit, we certainly made the right choice without any question. The location, peacefulness, luxurious surroundings, accommodation, food and the general quality of service are all first class. The staff are particularly good, attentive, very friendly with nothing being too much trouble. We came across so many that were truly excellent and were prepared to go the extra mile for us that it would be unfair to single out any of them individually. We stayed in a 'Superior' suite which was beautiful and the best positioned type of accommodation, being closest to the beach, on the property. Having breakfast delivered to your balcony each day was very special. One very minor observation would be the limited view of the sea from the room due to the excessive growth of the trees on the beach. The dive centre (ScubaTech) being on the beach was an added bonus for me personally and the water sports included were also excellent. Grenada is amongst the most beautiful Caribbean islands, so highly recommend getting out and about. We paid for a B&B package so were able to eat at a number of the local restaurants which were all lovely, as well as eating at the onsite Gary Rhodes restaurant. We also benefitted from a number of dinners, lunches, spa treatments etc from a special offer being given by Calabash when we visited which made the stay great value for money given the quality. If you're considering Grenada and looking for peaceful luxury in a beautiful setting, look no further. Read less
