OK, just back from two weeks at Jewel Runaway Bay and can honestly say it was OK! to start with not too good, really old and could do with upgrade, no issues with cleanliness, beach towels or bad staff as reported in other reviews. Room (3105) ground floor facing onto quiet gardens, very old, broken tiles, stain coming off furniture onto hands etc but very comfy bed, air con good and spotlessly clean, mini fridge well stocked and TV OK, not here to watch TV so lack of channels didn't bother us. Food options plenty with our favourites Moonstone ( Italian), Jesters( pizza) the rest where OK with the buffet being our least liked, put off by the amount of flies around and on food. Grounds where immaculate, constantly worked on and where a joy to walk round, pools not dirty at all and plenty of pools to choice from and never too busy. Beach stunning, sand clear and near spotless (not clever for guests to leave rubbish and cigarette ends in the sand). we were never stuck for a good spot beach or pool and cabanas are worth every penny with butler service, we booked twice. OK I think enough of the negative and on to the positive. Staff, staff staff. A long list but without you our holiday would have been average. Mario - front desk, polite, helpful and always informative O'Brien - tour desk ( although we booked with JTL ) always happy to chat and tell us about Jamaica. Roberto - one of the directors, always asking us if all OK and we really did feel he would help if we needed it. Marcia and Joy at the Spa brilliant massage and well worth the visit. Oksanna at reception always smilling always helpful. Ent team - Reble ( what a smile), Goofy miss you big man, Cookie always chatting, Dimples- boy did you try hard to get people involved, Shades cool, Ice Barbie what a singer. John the gardener - we really enjoyed talking to you and trying to teach us Patoi. Tina, Sylvia and Anne Marie in buffet always there, always smilling. And cannot forget Robert and Diel in house band, brilliant So many more staff I can't / never caught names of. Egg boy of course. Truly the Jewels in Jewel resort, Management these members of staff made our holiday, with a little bit of money spent on rooms and more fitting evening entertainment ( keep the house band, missed the night they where not on) this resort could be easily be 4-5 star again. Fitroy Whyte from the Jade Samauri Restaurant is the absolute best!!!! Hands down the best chef, both he and Chantell kept us laughing throughout the whole night and attended to our EVERY need. I had a GREAT time and just can't stop talking about how much fun my friends and I had. The rooms were clean and I loved the variety of food that you guys had and also the night entertainment. I'll definitely be back and next time I'm bringing my family and more friends. Read less

The front desk clerks those 3 young ladies are also amazing there was never a dull momemt with them checking out at 12pm on sept 17th very warm personalities. Ms Richards atthe conceirge was excellent in .making us feel special and apart of the Jewels family by surprising us with birthday cakes and a personalise letter. The short, fat security officer (not sure of his name was very welcoming as well as the elderly bell man. Entertainment qith Barbie and the ahirt dreadlock guy was indeed fantastic. We just got back from a week at Jewel. Our 2nd time there. We went in Sept of 2017 for a wedding and loved it so much we decided to come back this year for our anniversary. I thought I would share a few things. The beach and water are amazing, I highly recommend doing some snorkeling. The food is great. All but one of the restaurants is outside though and the mosquitos can be bad around dinner time so bring some bug spray. Sunscreen is $25 a bottle in the gift shop so bring plenty of your own sunscreen. The rooms are nice but I personally find the beds a little firm and the pillows are too fat for me so I bring my own pillow. I didn't care for the loud music they played until 10 or 11 at night is my biggest complaint. They need to turn it down earlier or have it in an area that can't be heard in the rooms. The service is great, everyone is very friendly and helpful. We did have a booking error and when we got there our original room was not available so they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a butler suite. It was sweet! Not a room we could have afforded normally so a real treat. The two butlers, Imron and Shamile were fantastic. They kept the fridge stocked, brought plates of fruit every day, brought us chilled champagne on our anniversary night, brought me a pot of ginger tea one night. We did not do any excursions this time. in 2017 we did the Luminous Lagoon Tour and it was very cool. We also did the One Mile tour. It was an hour drive and we got to see a lot of the Jamaican landscape and local scenery. The roads are narrow, switch back and bumpy so take precautions if you get car sick. It was worth it though. Some friends recommended the Green Gratto Caves, Dunn's River Falls, and The Blue Hole but we did not make it to these. Happy Travels Everyone! Read less

What an incredible resort! From the outstanding beach, the activities, water park, the great staff, it was all wonderful. We stayed in a plunge pool room (not a modern room but it didn’t bother us in the least). The room was always cleaned impeccably by our amazing housekeeper who always left towel animals for each of our kids. I believe her name was Francine. The plunge pool was great and the kids loved it. Worth the extra money. We rented a cabana on the beach which was also worth the extra money. Our waiter Shavon was the most dedicated and friendly staff member we had the pleasure of meeting that week. He spoke to the kids, brought us lunches and drinks and was someone we won’t forget. Food was delicious and the pizza was amazing!! We ate it almost every day. It was that good. The only negative I would have about this resort is no air conditioned dining (only open air). At night the air was so thick and humid, it made it difficult for our kids to eat. They were always big sweat balls who just needed to go back to the room. But other than that, we had an incredible and memorable week. I definitely recommend this resort to anyone especially with kids. Read less
