I was fortunate to spend a week at the Grand Moon Palace with a great group of ladies, including my dear friend and Diamond member, Connie Dickman. Due to Connie's Diamond status I was able to access more benefits than usual, however my first visit as a Costco Travel guest in March 2018 was almost as good! The Hotel and Grounds The Grand at Moon Palace is a luxury property. All rooms are elegantly furnished, beds are super comfortable, bathroom and closet storage areas are spacious, and each room has a large outdoor covered patio with a double lounger. I shared a room with my sister and many mornings we enjoyed our coffee on the patio. The decor in each restaurant is unique, every space has its own personality and design. The buildings and grounds are meticulously maintained by the incredibly hardworking maintenance staff. Food and Drinks There are so many incredible restaurants, bars and lounges at the Grand and the accompanying spaces at Moon Palace Nizuc and Sunrise. It is impossible to visit them all in a week or even two. My favourite is Tavola, and we had a wonderful group dinner there, wine pairings by Miguel and our server Luis was so attentive. Our first night we had dinner at La Cantina, a slightly more casual meal which was perfect after a long day of travelling. Our servers Manuel and Elan brought out a variety of tacos expertly prepared by Chef Diego, and Jorge Vargas (Wine Sommelier) made his signature margaritas. Santiago was our server for a delicious steak dinner at the open air Argentinian Grill (adjacent to the Wellness Pool). The Grill is often overlooked in favour of JC Steakhouse, but be sure to pay the Grill a visit! I love sushi and sashimi, and our dinner at Jade did not disappoint! Our gracious servers Isabel and Roberto kept a steady stream of food coming, we were stuffed! We had a special dinner on the Caribeno terrace, Daniel our server took such good care of us. I had never eaten at Los Tacos on my previous visits, so the special lunch put together by the manager Israel was wonderful! We tried tacos and cocktails inspired by the different regions of Mexico, all served on specially carved wooden platters in the shape of the country of Mexico. These definitely need to be sold in the gift shop! We were treated to a wonderful wine tasting in the Tapas y Vino lounge, Martin, Manuel and Jorge were all so knowledgeable and attentive. I am always in awe of the Mexican wines that the Grand serves, I only wish we could buy them in Canada. This was the one visit where I was able to really appreciate and enjoy the Unique Pool (adults-only) as we usually travel with our kids. The cabanas are so comfortable, and we had loungers in the sun too. Our servers Anabel and Danielle were so sweet and attentive! I can now say with confidence that I do not like worm salt but it was offered to enhance the tequila tasting! We had two days off the property at different Palace resorts - Isla Mujeres and Beach Palace. It was so nice to see the two different places. I was happy that I had a chance to tour around Isla Mujeres with my sister as I had heard so much about the island but had never visited. At the time of writing this, all international travel has ground to a halt. My heart aches for the staff of all Palace resorts, and I do hope the situation turns around very soon. Read less

We were supposed to be a party of 10 but with the world situation all of our friends cancelled. Francisco Javier Escamilla Herrera our diamond concierge for the Sunrise section handled all of our last minute changes, efficiently and flawlessly. We now were staying 21 days. We went to our update meeting and met with Patricia De la Torre our sales person. Patty went above and beyond during the rest of our stay and even after we left. We will be keeping in touch with her. After one day at the Sunrise section we moved to the Grand section which was good as soon after they closed both the Sunrise and Nizuc sections. This was such a hard time for the staff and everything was up in the air as to what was going to happen next. Even though with all of the uncertainty the staff everywhere went above and beyond to make the most of our stay. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short as the Mexican government was shutting down all the remaining open resorts. Jatzibe Fernanda Carrillo Mejía from public relations contacted us to the news of us having to leave. She assisted in making the flight changes, transfers, and return certificates for the remaining days of our original stay. Our diamond concierge Francisco and then Sandy when we moved to the Grand. Both provided excellent customer service and even more so with all of the changes. All of the restaurants served excellent meals and a wide variety of options. The staff that stood out from those were: Bugambilias Edgar Gondola Jorge JC Steakhouse Pedro Tavola- we ate there a few times, Pedro Escarcega told us to be sure and eat there on our last night and they would prepare something special for us. When we arrived our table was set up with rose petals. We had a 5 course meal with wine pairings. It was spectacular. Photos attached. The staff that night that prepared and served us were: Manager Elliott Host Pablo Waiters Pedro Escarcega, Jose Ochs Kitchen team- Ramiro Sanguino Victor Guzman Robeca Escobar Nallely Barrientos Jaime Dominguez Sheila Cab Adan Reves Sommelier Miguel Montes We can’t thank them all enough for making our last night there special. The lobby bar entertainment and the Library we enjoyed every night. The cellist, pianists, the Trio and the jazz quartet in the Library were awesome. The bar staff were all very friendly and prepared great drinks. Lobby bar Irene and all the bartenders Library Speakeasy J Luis, Pita, Hector Unique Day Club- Dani and Cristina Pool concierge at the Grand Elias Fernando and Ever they kept me company and so enjoyed visiting with them, they helped make our last few days. They even found a scrabble and jenga game for me! All of the drivers were courteous and prompt. Wish I could taken down all of their names but Jonathan and Fransisco were ones I remember. Bellman Omar from Sunrise helped us when we arrived and when transferred to the Grand. We love the Palace Resorts. The staff at all levels work very hard to ensure the grounds are maintained, housekeepers, maintenance to keep all in working order, cooks, servers etc.. We have been members since 2003 and will continue to support Palace Resorts. Read less

The incredible staff in Conventions Services & Banquets : Gabriel Herrera, Carlos Perez, Salvador Garcia, Ezekiel, Alejandro, David, Karen... have provided a 5 star service. An event of our size is not an easy task and we can always count on the team at the resort to partner in executing this event. From the first guest experience at check-in, F&B outlets , accommodations to the last departing guest is an extremely smooth process. The hotel and staff has become an extension of our family and we can't wait to return once again! Read less

We were fortunate to travel to the Grand at Moon Palace at the beginning of March. The weather was beautiful and the resort is spectacular. So many choices for pools, restaurants and activities. Our first day there I had a wonderful mani/pedi at the Salon and Sandra did an incredible job. We had two different wonderful waiters, both named Luis, at the Italian restaurant and Jade, the Asian restaurant. The service was great and the food amazing. Aurelio did a wonderful job of booking our spa treatments and other things for us. He was always eager to help. We had two of the most amazing waiters that we were so impressed with. Carlos at the Las Tacos pool and Adrian at the pool in front of the Grill. They were going non stop all day, looking after everyone's needs. My husband had one of the best massages he's ever had while we were there, thanks to Blanca. He said it was wonderful. A couple of other shout outs to great waiters we had, Augusto at The Grill and Corneleo at the Mexican restaurant at Nizuc, where Daniel made us some delicious guacamole. The staff work so hard to meet your every need and keep the grounds beautiful. It is a great resort for both couples and families with the huge water park and kids club, spa and golf course. One of the places we really enjoyed was the new Library bar. Unfortunately I didn't get the name of the bartender but he made me an amazing drink. I would highly recommend this beautiful resort.
