Nisbet Plantation Beach Club

Nevis, St Kitts and Nevis

The hotel

Sometimes it’s the story behind a setting that makes a place special. Sometimes it’s the setting itself. At Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, it’s both. It gives you the rare chance to stay in a historic area on a Caribbean beach (a spot where Horatio Nelson met his future wife, Fanny) – so you get all the bygone beauty of The Great House, with all the barefoot beauty of a sandy beach with hammocks for two. And, connecting the two, the stately Avenue of Palms sweeps down its 30 acres of lush gardens, which are dotted with 36 little cottages, leading you to treats like the 75 foot freshwater swimming pool, ocean-facing hot tub, The Palms Spa, the casual seaside dining and rum punch parties of its beach restaurants, and the fine dining and elegant afternoon teas of The Great House.

My husband & I celebrated our wedding anniversary in Nevis where we had an excellent time. All the staff were so amazing. They knew our names & always greeted us by our first names. At times they put us to shame as we couldn't always remember their's! We would definitely return there soon & recommend the hotel to anyone interested in peace & quiet.

Nisbet Was Wonderful. For an intimate vacation in a place that’s big enough to provide almost everything you’d want in a vacation, it’s hard to beat on Nevis. Nisbet Was Wonderful. For an intimate vacation in a place that’s big enough to provide almost everything you’d want in a vacation, it’s hard to beat on Nevis. We ate at Golden Rock, and while it is beautiful, there is no ocean breeze and it looked like not much to do. Four Seasons is too big for our taste (and too expensive)... and closed for renovation. For the most part, the food in their 3 restaurants was very good. Other than Sunshine’s, Golden Rock, and the Botanical Gardens, we ate all our meals at Nisbet. Our only complaint was when they ran out of Grey Goose. Pam, their operational manager, was very quick to take care of that. If you go, take the 5 mile morning hike with Tim and his wife Tina. They are both very enjoyable people. It’s a good way to see a more authentic side of Nevis.Tim is the general manager. His wife also serves as a manager. Violet, who hosted breakfast and lunch, was great. Very good staff in general. Since we came when it was hot (89), we were very appreciative of the A/C. The bbq on Thursday had many different foods to try, all good, plus live music. A few interesting local artists brought their wares. If I had one complaint it is the water was a bit cool (in June!). It’s the Atlantic, not the Gulf of Mexico. But overall a wonderful trip. We’ll be back if we can. The accompanying photo is from our back deck. Read less

Myself and my wife had an amazing trip to Nisbet plantation, the staff are very friendly, very relaxing and quiet, a lot of the time we had a beautiful Caribbean shoreline all to ourselves. Make sure you try the eggs benedict for breakfast, best we have had!

I have to say I was disappointed with our stay at the plantation not because of the rooms, service or food ( they were all excellent) but the beach. The ‘left’ beach has major erosion issues and a tremendous amount of seaweed. So much so you could not swim. The ‘center’ beach did not have these issues but had very little shade. The beach is important to us thus the 3 star review. Staff was very friendly and accommodating and even gave us a free upgrade and free night. The island of Nevis is lovely and easy to get around. Go to Golden Rock, the most Beautiful place on the island. Read less

Family name is Nisbet, and we have had a visit to the Nisbet Plantation on out Bucket List for 20 Years. Flight from Gatwick (BA) pretty uneventful, land on Antigua, one hour turnround then off to St Kitts, 50 Minute Flight, but mush longer to clear Security! Short Bus ride to the Coast, then a six minute Boat Ride over to Nevis, all laid back with drinks offered all round, 10 minutes in a Taxi (provided) to the Plantation, cool drink supplied in a freezing Reception (AIr Con) and we were taken to our Apartment, baggage already in the rooms. Large accommodation, sitting room very large Bedroom and very sizeable Bath/Shower room, all neat tidy a clean! The Plantation only has 36 Rooms/Apartments, I would guess that the six days were were there it was 70% full. Breakfast next to the beach was superb, with plenty to choose from the Menu that changed daily, amazing fact: all Staff new our first Names, I never figured out how! Dinner is served in the Plantations original Manor House, excellent food, different Menu every day and the food supplied of top quality, only downside being the huge size of he portions forget your dietary plans if you go there! Beer and wine served was very pleasant but once Tax is added the cost is quite high £8 for a glass of Wine, but it was our holiday for this year soe we spent lots! Trips to go on: Rum Tour, excellent Driver, who worked for the Plantation knows his stuff and we got to meet plenty of very friendly Nevi-ans that were really welcoming and interested in where we were from the Rum was also very good! Round the Island Tour: You can go where you like, but if making a decision is too difficult the driver will take you round their route anyway, try to reach the Capital before 12:00 Noon as all shops appear to close for Lunch!
