Timothy Beach

St Kitts, St Kitts and Nevis

The hotel

If you’re going to laze on any beach in St Kitts, Frigate Bay’s Caribbean-washed shore is the one to pick – and Timothy Beach Resort is the only hotel to grace its golden sands. It’s not just the only hotel on South Frigate Bay Beach, it’s also plumped for the best spot on those sands, right by a natural snorkelling reef, rich in fishes, and a stroll from the Atlantic beach. Making the most of its beachside setting, most rooms have a sea view (although the lawn-facing rooms often get exciting views, thanks to visiting vervet monkeys). Life here is about simple relaxation, mainly played out on the sands or at the oceanfront pool – except on Sunday nights, when the resort buzzes with a Caribbean buffet at Sunset Café, and reggae bands playing by the water’s edge at Dock Bar.

The 800 lb. gorilla in Frigate Bay is the Marriott, about a mile from Timothy Beach Resort. We chose to stay in something less monolithic. True - the beach is nicer at the Marriott, but it’s on the Atlantic side of the island. The beach at Timothy Beach Resort, while smaller and less well groomed, is on the Caribbean side, and the water is much calmer. The resort itself is very nice. The 4 of us stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 7 nights, with a kitchenette and 3 full bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable. Accommodations were great, overall. The beach is just steps away. There’s an on-site restaurant, Sunset Cafe, that has good food (and not too expensive) throughout the day. A small strip with several restaurants and bars is also only steps away. In the < 1 mile walk between Timothy Beach Resort and the Marriott, there are 6+ other restaurants and a small minimart for groceries. Basseterre is a 15 minute cab ride away. Housekeeping was excellent, though they came at random times during the day. The staff was quite friendly and accommodative. Only downside - one of the local bars on the beach often played music until the early hours of the morning, and this was occasionally disruptive to sleep if your room faces the beach. Overall, we were quite satisfied with the resort, and would stay here again. Read less

The beachside neighborhood, called the strip, is pretty honky tonk. We weren’t overly impressed the the adjacent beach. However, at check in we were pleased to hear we had been upgraded to a larger room. Our room was quite comfortable. It had a fully equipped kitchen, a large refrigerator, a dining table and a large sitting area. Outside was a relatively large patio with lounge chairs, another dining table and ocean views. The wi-fi throughout, at 24.5 Mb down 11.2 up, was very good. There were plenty of TV channels. On the flip side, the bathroom was relatively small. The place grew on us. We wouldn’t come back here for an extended stay, but it worked for us for a one night stopover. It certainly is more reasonably priced than some of nearby resorts. Read less

We went for Xmas and stayed for 5 days - 4 nights. We stayed in room #30. It was so clean! I never saw a creepy crawly the entire length of our stay. The air conditioner worked well, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. It would cool down the rooms within minutes. Full size fridge that made ice quickly. The air conditioner worked well, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. It would cool down the rooms within minutes. Full size fridge that made ice quickly. The TV had plenty of channels too. It still has that old school Caribbean feel while being updated and more modern - I didn't find anything "tired" about the apartments. I loved being able to see the clothes hung on the line drying in the sun. There were monkeys, mongoose, cats and plenty of birds to watch from the resort. While the pool area is on the smaller side it was still spacious and never felt crowed. There even is some shade. It almost could look like an infinity pool! Great veiew down the beach. The staff was great, once again everything you would want on vacation laid back service with no one in a rush. You still need to sign out towels for the beach in a log book that reminds one of years past. The beers are cheap and the seafood roti is off the hook! We ate one every day. Steps from the beach and the "strip" Felt completely safe here too! Read less

Timothy Beach was a centrally located beachside resort. Clean rooms , a small pool , a cool little restaurant and steps to the sand. Not a glitzy over priced resort but a down to earth family spot that was fairly priced. We will return to this resort as it met all of our needs.

It was guiet and the distance was no problem for us. The room was large, a bit tired but spotless clean. The bath was also ok. We had no oceanview, it is better from the rooms closer to reception. We liked the restaurant, good quality of foods, especially breakfasts which were made to order, except on sunday - buffet then. We ate most of our meals here. The staff were very friendly and polite. The beach was just steps from the reception/restaurants and was very nice and calm, plenty sunbeds and shade. There is a row of restaurants within 10min easy walk. Lively bar scene just steps from the reception. The free wifi worked well in the room. No safe in the room, these were found in the reception. We wre very happy with our stay and have no hesitation to come back. Read less
