Timothy Beach

St Kitts, St Kitts and Nevis

The hotel

If you’re going to laze on any beach in St Kitts, Frigate Bay’s Caribbean-washed shore is the one to pick – and Timothy Beach Resort is the only hotel to grace its golden sands. It’s not just the only hotel on South Frigate Bay Beach, it’s also plumped for the best spot on those sands, right by a natural snorkelling reef, rich in fishes, and a stroll from the Atlantic beach. Making the most of its beachside setting, most rooms have a sea view (although the lawn-facing rooms often get exciting views, thanks to visiting vervet monkeys). Life here is about simple relaxation, mainly played out on the sands or at the oceanfront pool – except on Sunday nights, when the resort buzzes with a Caribbean buffet at Sunset Café, and reggae bands playing by the water’s edge at Dock Bar.

When our AC broke down we feared a battle to be moved, so we were delighted that a) within 10 mins of reporting the problem an engineer arrived and b) within half an hour, we we advised that a new room was being prepared for us to move into. Surprised and delighted with the swift, no fuss service. Their Sunday breakfast and evening buffet are both worth booking for (open to non residents). We will most definitely be coming back. This is the second time we have stayed at this resort, coming back after 3 years away. The beach is great, lovely for swimming. However it has been totally spoilt by the hotel allowing tours. Basically the tour take over all the sun beds and the beach for several hours. There is no restriction on these day trippers allowing them to take over leaving no space for residents to sit peacefully watching the sea. Sun beds pulled up knocking you around so they can sit inches in front spoiling your stay! If you are going to do this at least leave the deck to residents only! The restaurant is also not fantastic, items missing from breakfast but still same price charged, service is so slow and it’s expensive. Read less

Good choice of hotel as the welcome was second to none, Laurel is a star,. She was very knowledgable and looked after all my transport needs and booked outings when I needed them. The food is good and reasonably priced and the rooms are very spacious. WiFi was good once Laurel sorted it out for me. Swimming is pleasant and location on the beach is great with some good snorkeling just around the other side of the jetty. one minute walk to the 'strip' which was quiet at this time of year - October. Two week visit in a hill view room. Plenty of clean towels, great air conditioning and spotlessly clean rooms. The pool was great and good access to the beach via the steps. Food at the Dock Bar and Sunset Cafe are good, the pizza wasn’t so good though. We visited many of the beach bars in the Frigate Bay strip for meals and didn’t have a disappointing meal once.
