We stayed from 5.9.20-13.9.20, hotel was lovely & clean, it was a shame we couldn't go out and explore the local area but was fine under the circumstances. Evening entertainment wasn't great, some nights there was nothing. Food on offer in the 1 restaurant on site (we went all inclusive) was very flavorsome and the chef did fulfil our requests, staff were really lovely and helpful, Fabiola, Roger, Terry (i think), Elron to name a few were great. Beach was well kept, plenty of sunbeds to relax, beach BBQ was great. Room was nice, cleaned everyday with fresh towels. We did order food from outside: KFC, Chinese & Indian), Chinese & Indian was included in our all inclusive budget (480ECD), we had to pay for the KFC ourselves. The Indian food we ordered was really delicious, especially the dahl makhani, highly recommend ordering from here. Overall a very relaxing break in the sunshine at Bay Gardens Beach Resort Read less

First off, I’ll start by saying that the Bay Gardens Resort is very pretty and in a good location. However, I travelled there last week with my mom (Sep 13-20th) and we were less than impressed for several reasons. Things to know before you go!... I had been on the St. Lucia travel website and even emailed them to find out about the current situation there. I was told that you needed a negative Covid test within 7 days before you arrived, there would be no quarantine, all beaches are open, and restaurants are open. They said they “recommend” you stay near your hotel for the majority of your stay to keep your odds down of getting sick. My mom and I booked the hotel, rented a car, got our negative tests and flew into UVF. Everything went fine until we got outside and were told there were no rental cars available (even though we had already booked and confirmed it). So they made us take a taxi ($95 US) to the hotel. Annoying, but we were going with the flow. We got to the hotel and here’s what we found out and had to deal with... Current COVID requirements: -You’re not allowed to leave the hotel, or walk further than 50ft on the beach -You must get daily temperature checks, 1 between 10-11am and the other at 4-5pm. There is only one nurse and she also does the checks of the new arrivals therefore she is not always there during those times and lines start to form out the door while everyone waits for her to return. -There is one restaurant on the property that is overpriced and does not have the best staff (charges 10%VAT and 10% service charge on everything) -There are only a couple other options if you want other food (Dominos, KFC, Chinese, Indian, and a restaurant called Matthews). They deliver but the hotel charges you another 10% on top of that -You can make a grocery list for someone from the hotel to get for you but you have no idea the quality/brands they have so it’s all a guess (ex-we got 1lb of roasted turkey breast and spent over $7 on slimy gross turkey that we threw away) Normal problems on the property- -AC doesn’t work (we switched rooms because the first one wouldn’t go under 80’ but then the next room had the same problem in the living room, thankfully the one in the bedroom was a little cooler) -Toilets half-flush -Food is expensive ($20+ USD for every meal and $45USD for the buffet pp) -Tiny ants around the room (especially near the door and kitchen area) -Cockroach found in my water shoe -Mosquitos in the rooms -Waiting staff in the dining room very rude and unobservant (except for a few) -Receptionists start out very condescending and act annoyed when you ask questions. They do get better and more personable as your stay goes on though -TV only works half of the time. Cuts in and out. Sound turns off a lot and then buffers for 5min. Very pixilated. -Internet is spotty throughout the resort Overall, I think this place could be nice given normal circumstances. They do have a nice pool and section of the beach with layout chairs, and if you’re looking for the “all inclusive” aspect with few other expectations then I bet you’d think it’s great! Tips- Get the local rum! A bottle of coconut rum is only $6US and very tasty! -Use the gift shop! It looks closed but they will open it for you if you request it. They have sunscreen, aloe, bug repellent, etc. Very helpful since you can’t leave to buy some yourself (although having them get it for you on your grocery list will save you a few $) -If you have a problem, let them know. It may take a little bit to get sorted out/fixed but they do their best to make it right. Read less
