Sonesta Ocean Point Resort

St Maarten, Caribbean

The hotel

Channelling its glorious island setting, the adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort delivers St Maarten’s glamorous vibe, chic styling, and ocean views. One of the best places to bay-gaze is the aptly named ‘Edge Pool’, with its zero-entry cliffside beach adding to the decadent feel (although the other two pools are equally gorgeous swimming spots). A self-proclaimed ‘limitless all-inclusive’, with the option to upgrade to a Butler service suite, you can dine and drink at five bars and two restaurants – or pop over to the family-friendly sister hotel Sonesta Maho Beach Resort for five more restaurants and bars, along with Vegas-style shows, spa treatments, and casino flutters.

We never had a problem getting assistance. The hotel is clean. However, it could use some updates. I believe the food was catered by the company/employer that hosted it. In general, the food at the hotel was good-not great. It is all inclusive, so you have a choice each evening of different genres. The town itself is kind of old. There are some restaurants in the town that you can walk to. Also the Sonesta casino is attached to this property. It is very close to the airport which can be a plus or minus. This is not the hotel where you could get blown away by the wind from an airplane landing. However, you can see the planes coming into the airport from the hotel. The beach itself is somewhat inadequate. Rent a car and go to the Divi resort where you can enjoy their beach for free. Definitely go to the French side of the island for a change of pace. The wadding pool at this hotel is very pleasant. They have entertainment at the pool. Read less

We’ve stayed at a lot of adult only all inclusives (mainly Secrets) and wouldn’t rank this one quite as high in terms of overall quality. If you get a good price though, it is definitely worth it. The environment, buildings, rooms were excellent but it doesn’t have the same degree of selection in food, nor is the food or service as good. It’s… Read more

The environment, buildings, rooms were excellent but it doesn’t have the same degree of selection in food, nor is the food or service as good. It’s also located right by the airport so incredibly noisy but if you’re someone who loves airplanes, you might see that as a positive. The sunsets from the Sunset bar are excellent. The pool areas are also nice. Read less

What a great holiday. Our room was perfect. The location of the resort is beautiful, especially from the Azul Restaurant and the Oceanpoint Pool on the cliff. My wife and I have been away to many all-inclusive resorts now and this has easily been the best with respect to food quality and the daily entertainment. We paid more than on other vacations and we got our money's worth. The Azul Restaurant was fantastic due to the high quality restaurant food and service and the amazing view off the cliff. Truly spectacular. The daily entertainment was also far superior from other resorts we have been to, with acoustic guitarists poolside, amazing singers at the Sunset Bar, the Casino Royale shows and the live bands on the stage nightly. Maho Beach is small and very angled, so difficult for walking. The airplanes taking off and landing right over the beach was a very neat experience. The resort isn't quiet due to the airport proximity, but we greatly enjoyed that experience too with being on the beach or in the water with the planes flying close overhead. Not our first choice for a beach experience, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Read less
