The Liming Bequia

St Vincent and the Grenadines, Caribbean

The hotel

One of the last bastions of Caribbean exclusivity, the islanders of Bequia know how special it is – which is why the owners of this beach retreat only invite a handful of guests to stay at any one time. With just nine luxury villas, one chic Junior Suite, and the five bedroom mansion house to pick from, each with its own infinity pool or hot tub, it has the feel of a private and very exclusive estate. This elite edge continues at The Liming’s dining room, where seafood is fresh from the ocean and many other ingredients are island-sourced – and it’s all served on the sea-top terrace (or in your villa or suite if you fancy even more privacy).

We dined here for lunch. Dinner menu is too eclectic for my simple palate. We all ordered Club sandwiches w/salad. It was good enough but, nothing remarkable. Very remote, beyond the airport. So, not in the most ideal location. It definitely is the prettiest restaurant on the island, casually elegant. The vistas are quite stunning. … Read more

So, not in the most ideal location. It definitely is the prettiest restaurant on the island, casually elegant. The vistas are quite stunning. Airplanes landing can be a bit unnerving. We are returning again for 3 weeks on July 13 and will most certainly return. Prepare to wear your finest T-Shirts, shorts and flip flops. 😁 Read less

The villas are beautifully appointed and offer every comfort, including a well-stocked mini bar, books, and a scrabble board. I thought the initial set up needed extra bath towels, which we requested and received in minutes. Loved the bed- slept like a rock! The setting is gorgeous, secluded, and tranquil, with stunning views of the sapphire and turquoise waters of the bay. We spent a lot of time in our private infinity pool overlooking the bay, as well as kayaking and paddle boarding up and down the coastline. Saw lots of turtles and sea birds- I so wish we'd carried snorkeling equipment! We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the Restaurant immensely. Excellent food and very pleasant, prompt service (almost too prompt, but I think they likely noticed we were famished). The portions were gourmet size, but the variety of courses made for a very satisfying meal. When we dined there, the restaurant was practically empty, but the bar/lounge area had a nicely chill atmosphere, with a few guests and locals listening to good music and immersed in conversation. Overall a wonderful stay. Would love to return! Read less

Staying in Moonhole for the third time in as many years we looked over the bay to the restaurant, saying we should go down there sometime. Well after almost three weeks we ventured down on Sunday afternoon for drinks. Being the only ones in the restaurant we wondered if this place hat it together. Boy did they ever...the service and attention to detail was impeccable. So we had a couple margaritas, they were really good. So we ordered a couple appetizers, lentil fritters with hummus and the jerked chicken wings. They both were very good. So we ordered a couple more drinks and some lunch. Fried prawn salad and the delux steak burger and fries. My wife has raved for days about her salad and my burger was delicious. One of the best I’ve had in my Island travels....and I’ve looked. So if by chance you find yourself in Bequia, head down to Adams Bay and stop in and see Avalon and the crew and have some awesome food and drinks next to the sea. See ya next time guys. Read less

We stopped by for lunch with a couple of friends during our most recent stay in Bequia. The lunch was excellent and the service was top notch. The rest are just my initial observations. First of all, the whole place is beautiful although the landscaping is new and not yet lush. The bar, lounging areas, and the restaurant are what you would see at some of the top resorts in the Caribbean and elsewhere. The term I would use is 'subtle elegance'. People we know in Bequia have told us that the bar and restaurant motif and decor is basically from the now closed Buccament Bay in St. Vincent. Apparently a principal owner is/was involved with both. As for the lodging and the beach, the former appears to be the standard villa/bungalow with plunge pool setup. The villas/bungalows appear very nice. And the beach was formed by building a jetty as a breakwater (it's on the Atlantic side of the island) and importing white sand. All-in-all, it's visually very pleasing if a bit stark as, again, the landscaping is essentially brand new. The drawback or plus, depending on what you are in Bequia for, is the location. It is literally just a couple of minutes from the airport. So if you want the ease of flying in and out without aggravation and a long drive, plus a high level of privacy...then this might be the place for you. However, if you want to try different restaurants and spend time in Port Elizabeth, this is about as far away from all of that as it's possible to be. You certainly cannot walk into town or to another restaurant from there. We wish them the best and hope they do well. We will certainly return for lunch or dinner the next time we're on the island. Would my wife and I consider staying here? No. We already have a place we love to stay (twelve times so far) in Bequia. The Liming is too isolated for us. But what to us is isolated to another may be absolutely perfect. Read less

Just opened in late 2018 the Limings is still settling down. Located in Adam’s Bay past the airport at the end of a gravel road through the old quarry the first impression is made by the fantastic sea coloration and the landscaping which is yet to mature. A cabana style boutique hotel with a central bar, dining room and dock complex it is aimed at the upper end of the price spectrum as the prices in US $ indicate. We only went for lunch which was excellent- far better than the sister hotel, the Plantation House in harbour. Not cheap but good value, like the property the young and charming staff are still finding their feet. Read less
