My wife and I have literally just returned from a two week stay at the Laguna Resort (Studio room overlooking pools, room 472) and without a doubt, this is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in and surpassed all expectations by a mile. To tell you that my wife had tears running down her face on the day that we had to check out probably says everything in itself. I had chosen this resort based on previous Tripadvisor postings and I can now fully understand and relate to the comments made about this hotel. From the moment that you arrive at the hotel lobby and the way that you are welcomed to the hotel, sets the tone for something quite special to come. The biggest point for me to make is the genuine, caring nature of every member of staff. The degree of detail that they put into everything they do, this ranging from the management team, chefs, the waiters and waitresses, bar staff, the gardeners, the pool cleaners is to a level I have not seen before. These people all seem incredibly proud of their resort but also enormously proud of their island and they want you to enjoy every day that you are there with them. We would like to say a special thanks to Lilek, Devavanti and Adias in the Lobby Bar who were so good with us in the evenings, even teaching my wife how to make a proper Espresso Martini for herself when back at home. If we could go back to the hotel for just one hour, it would be to the Lobby Bar for a drink at Sunset with these people. Also wish to say a big thanks to Rio and Alit in the fitness centre who were both very welcoming when we attended early every morning. Also thanks to Diva and Ryan in the buffet restaurant who served us most mornings and evenings. In brief, the buffet restaurant provides for an exceptional wide ranging breakfast offering and if sitting outside, the perfect tropical gardens provide the backdrop for you to enjoy. The Arwana a la carte restaurant was also fantastic, myself having had the best steaks there that I have had since South Africa 30 years ago. My wife tried a whole variety of the local main course offerings, all of which were delicious. Hot lava dessert is not to be missed. The beach at the front of the hotel, I understand is regarded as one of the best in Bali. The cove with its white sand is exceptional and some of the panoramic photos we have taken, make it look like they are straight from a travel magazine. We had planned to venture out of the resort a few times during our stay and one of these days was a full day comprising of an early morning trip to NungNung waterfall (this being the largest and most powerful in Bali) followed by the Ubud monkey sanctuary and forest swing all in one day. It was a great day out with some incredible photos. My suggestion would be to not look at NungNung waterfall online and just go and see it, you will get the surprise element that way and I promise you will not be disappointed. Also spent an evening at Uluwatu Temple at Sunset and watched the 7pm performance of the local dance in the amphitheatre. Well worth it again but watch the monkeys here as they have learnt some skills!!! For info, we hired a driver directly for both of these trips and it was fantastic value for money with a driver who wanted to ensure you had a great day out and was also really knowledgable, almost acting like a guide in many ways. I would highly recommend PUTU Tours if looking to day trip out of the resort, PUTU MERTHA +628123971186 or balimerta75@gmail.com Lovely air conditioned Toyota also provides some relief from the heat on a full day out. If you are reading this review as I did with so many some nine months ago, do just book it, it really was outstanding from start to finish and would find it incredibly hard to suggest any areas for improvement. Thanks again to the whole team at the resort for our wonderful stay. Andy & Ali Duquemin Jersey, Channel Islands, UK Read less

First up, staff customer service is perfect and hotel should be congratulated on such good training. The cleanliness is spot on. Perfectly manicured gardens. Didn't really have a problem with mossies, never got bitten once and didn't use repellent, never saw any lizzards/gekko's. They have guiness fowl, a duck and a chicken that roam around the gardens/pool ares, very funny to watch and are probably employed as free pest control. WIFI access is free and great everywhere on the premises. We had room 115 king, laguna access booked as wanted to experience the swim up to your balcony. Probably wouldn't book again as balcony is tiny and quite impractical to get in and out of on ladders and if you want a sunbed opposite, you have to walk via front door anyway. Would reccomend something less expensive, like a third floor king bed room with inner courtyard and see view. Beds super comfy, fresh, sheets changed daily. Air-conditioning perfect. We even turned off at night. So many different areas to explore and relax in. Free shuttle bus to Bali collection for shopping, which is ok but expensive. Breakfast is amazing. Such a variety to cater for everyone. Can go at any time from 7 till 11. Best coffee I've had. I like the assortment of loaves of bread and can cut to your own liking. Never a queue for food. Everything freshly made all morning, which is great if you rock up like we did at 10 each day!! Can have takeaway coffee ice coffee etc from breakfast. Order your own smoothie with freshly squeezed juices. No shortage of beach beds. They have a policy of removing belongings if unused for an hour, great stuff. So unfortunately the germans cant clain with their towels!!Each beach bed has a QR code for ordering drinks food etc and a buzzer. Many different pools. Cleaned every morning and evening. Cabanas can be ordered. Good value at $22 Aussie per day or $13 half day. Comes with fruit basket, little assortment of sun cream, mosquito repellant and after sun. Well worth it in my opinion. Hint 601 is best by the beach or 615 where we had by the waterfalls, very relaxing and shady. Rooms can get made twice per day. Or they knock and ask if you need anything, water, towels etc. Sink was draining very slow. Was fixed within the hour. Had a spa couples massage 2 hours, which was super expensive $485 but both really enjoyed it. It's perfectly relaxing, with sound of waterfalls outside. Therapists were really super professional, no gossiping during massage and well trained. You have a choice of massage oils (3), which is nice You can use steam sauna for free before if you want as well or during the day. Starts with foot scrub and massage, then 90 minute Balinese massage. Blissfully, both fell asleep regularly! Then 30 minute facial. Followed by some fruit and chocolate dip. Don't do the massages alot but this one was exceptional. Felt very lethargic all day! We had breakfast and dinner included. You get a voucher for dinner to enjoy a 3 course menu where you can choose from seven starters, variety of mains, and about seven deserts. If I was returning again, would just have breakfast included, as unless your having the scallops and steak (which you have to pay $20 extra for btw) every night, you won't save any money and gives you the option to dine at one of the neighbouring hotels. The food is without a doubt, very very good. The steaks are amazing, well worth the extra $20 you have to pay. The pasta and sauce isn't great, very thick tomato paste. Barramundi, Salmon and Basque grilled chicken, also amazing. Wine is pretty good, ranging approx from $18 to $28 a glass. Negatives, very minor Sometimes the bread, which they served with main meals is cold and stale and sometimes it's super fresh, hot (steaming when you cut in half). Could be consistently fresh served. Very minor, tried the services for men's haircut and Shampoo $60 as hair was a mess. Booked for 6pm but after the massage ended at 4, was told could do the haircut as hairdresser was ready. Agreed and had haircut, for whatever reason the hairdresser cut was very uneven and my partner had to point out areas that were sticking out. Which were then re addressed but left with wonky hair. The lady had to lean in very close to see. Normally expect a shampoo first, but this was offered after the cut, which I declined as just wanted to go. Overall, was a welcome relief to find a hotel (booked at last minute) that exceeded my expectation at all levels. I booked it on the great reviews and thought I would add mine. Will definitely come back. Hint if you sign up to the free Marriot bonvoy app, you get 15% off meals at dinner! Well done The Laguna team. Read less
