I’ve been coming here on business several times. Justin one of the reception staff has been lovely. He’s professional calm efficient. Always pleasant and smiling. It’s always a pleasure to see him. Pretty much most of the staff around the hotel is very friendly. The hotel location is great. Beach is beautiful.

Read the reviews and they are mostly accurate; In summary, yes the hotel is dated and feels like a 3 star in the US; Yes, the service is not very good, though the folks at the front desk are very nice; and yes, the breakfast is fairly bad, and the service there is atrocious. However, the location is incredible, with the beach being a few steps from the hotel. As for the beach, it is amongst, if not the best beach that I have seen. Beautiful white sand and blue water. The beach alone makes this a hotel where I will probably stay again. Just use the hotel as a place to sleep. Every morning, we walked across the street and ate a solid breakfast and often would eat dinner there as well--there are a number of local restaurants that are decent in the small outside mall across the street. Other than sleeping, we spent next to no time at the hotel, which is perfect. The room was clean and the A/C was great; Other than that, it was very basic, though WIFI is good throughout the hotel. The pool seemed very nice, but we were at the beach the entire trip. Lower your expectations for the hotel, avoid the restaurant and enjoy a wonderful beach. Read less

If you are looking for a perfectly located hotel on a gorgeous beach then Accra might be an option BUT if you are looking for luxury, service or an all inclusive experience then Accra will surely disappoint you. The hotel itself is in poor condition and in definite need of attention. Our room was clean and although we didn’t experience any issues, the rooms around us were under constant repair. There appears to be major plumbing issues in this hotel! The carpets in the hallways were flooded for the entire week we were there and every day there were new holes cut out in the walls as maintenance staff tried to fix the evident plumbing issues. The pool is nice, however, there were signs posted all around saying that the pool was closed for swimming. Despite the closure, guests ignored the signs and swam anyways. After 3 days of waiting to swim we asked management what was happening with the pool and were informed that there had been an incident and they were “waiting for a company to come clean the pool”. They weren’t able to tell us when or if that would happen during our stay! Also, there is a swim up bar but it’s in very poor condition and was closed for most of our stay. We only saw it open for a few hours on one day. Be warned that this is not a resort that you will want to dine at. There is only one restaurant with VERY limited options and horrible service. The same can be said for the bars - IF they are even open the service is very slow and the lobby bar was closed early most nights that we stayed here. The staff at the resort all seem tired and unhappy. Nobody seemed to care about the guests so it just felt like we were staying at an Air BnB with non existent service. There is zero nightlife at Accra but there are plenty of options outside of the hotel and within close proximity. Ironically there was one night that the hotel came to life and it was for a staff awards party. The party was extremely loud and went on until 3am. We had little sleep that night but it was VERY obvious that the guests comfort was not a priority. The beach is GORGEOUS but you will need to play the “race for the chairs game”. If you haven’t secured you chairs by 7am you likely won’t get one. The beach chairs and umbrellas are in terrible condition and desperately need to be replaced with new ones. There are other options along the beach but you will have to pay for those chairs. To finish on a positive note, we were thrilled with the central location and all the amazing bars and restaurants within walking distance from Accra. Barbados is incredible and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back to this area. If you are ok with the a basic hotel to use as a home base while you explore the island then that’s what you will get at Accra, no less and no more! Read less

Tripping hazard at lobby level Room - unfortunately we got a street side room, which was very noisy. Beside the taxis that went by, tooting their musical horns, we were awoken at 4am by a truck pumping something for over an hour. The door, at the handle was cracked. Night stand lamp was broken. The only positive was that it was clean and other guests liked the newer section which overlooked the ocean Read less

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Says 4 star but I’ve stayed in better 1-2 stars. While it has a spectacular location on beautiful Rockley beach and good architecture, everything goes downhill from there many local shopkeepers and taxi drivers hard Accra and all said good location but poor service, it’s commonly know this place is poorly managed. Taxi guy said he took many guests to other hotels after their first night, wish we did the same. Cons: Terrible service( staff are unfriendly, I got a grumbled “what do you want?”) House keeping is a nightmare (we arrived hours before checkin and let the front desk know, and reminded at 230pm, even so at 3pm our room wasn’t ready and I got a generic “whenever housekeeping will be done” with no estimate of when to expect in hot muggy weather. Front desk guy said he is calling housekeeping to check but was clearly not calling.upon finally getting a room and over the next few days all I saw is house keeping carts with loitering staff busy on their phone. The employees from hell one lady was on browsing on her phone while idly mopping with another hand to the side creating a wet mess in a common bathroom without so much as a sign to warn it’s wet. Expectedly bathrooms were not clean) MOLD- there was clearly mold in our ocean view suite’s bathroom. The exhaust fan wasn’t working and there was a definitive mold smell. Housekeeping came by and we asked them to fix the exhaust fan. After 3 days nothing. I could see black mold! Developed an allergy, runny nose, scratchy throat and eventually fever from staying in the room and the staff could t be bothered. This place will kill you, stay away. Ruined our Barbados trip. Cheap furnishing- not sure why they chose cheap motel level furniture in the rooms, it’s a sad sight. Upon checkout they made us wait for the manager and wasted a full hour ending in no action or accountability. Others- AC leaks water in the room, broken hot tub in room. Cheap random light fixtures, clearly a shoddy job “upgrading” to led bulbs, looks terrible and mostly baked bulbs hurt the eye. Dirty and grimy- all the hallways are grimy and quite likely this is why they are dimly lit. where carpets exist they are filthy. Read less
