The hotel

This modern resort is split into two hotels and occupies 300 ft of south coast beachfront. It doesn't matter which hotel you stay in, as you are free to use the facilities at both. This means you can enjoy two swimming pools, an oceanfront restaurant and, of course, a selection of complimentary non-motorised water sports along the lovely white sand beach. Coral Mist and Blue Orchids Hotels have the added advantage of being only a 5-minute drive from the shops, bars and restaurants of the lively St Lawrence Gap.

Such a friendly place! Staff were extremely helpful and efficient at sorting all queries. A special thanks goes to Reggie for helping us to book excursions. The room was spacious and clean with super comfortable beds. Kitchenette was equipped with utensils to make snacks and breakfast but not enough here to cook meals really. However there are many restaurants and bars extremely close by. Supermarket only a 5 min walk too. This hotel is right on the beach with 2 pools so if you want beach/pool days it's perfect! WiFi is free and worked well at all times during our stay. On checkout day, we were able to store our luggage and have access to a room for a shower before leaving which meant we could still make the most of our final day. For people wanting a luxurious room, this hotel is not for you as it's quite dated but all clean and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Read less

We have been here a few times but not since the pandemic. We paid a higher than usual price for it and we expected old friends to be there. But there was nobody we knew and hardly anybody else there for that matter. For the price increase the rooms were still the same. Rough! I don't think we ever realised how bad it was back then because it was busy socially we just accepted it. So here is the truth. The Hotel backs on to the main road and because there is gaps in the room doors and ventilation is 3 or 4 strips cut out of the concrete in the bathroom. The noise is horrendous at night. It's almost impossible to sleep. You can't open the patio doors because of mosquito's. It seems that the locals purpose go past the Hotel honking horns because they resent tourists. The locals that were so warm and friendly on previous visits are now distinctly unfriendly and seem to resent us. So if you can get past the not sleeping at night and want to watch the TV then it is a case of try and spot it. Still tiny LCD's that have had surrounds around them ( lob sided ). Few decent channels but they do have Netflix. We had a studio and the tv was not levelled to view comfortably from the bed. Take a laptop because the WIFI is actually good. There were very few utensils in the room. There used to be lots to make different meals but it's minimal now. The air conditioners are good. The bathrooms still have horrible dirty shower curtains that have been there since the hurricane hit a few years back. The food from the restaurant was edible but that's about it. There is supermarkets near but prices are very high. There was long term staff at the Hotel before but that has changed now. They have all gone and the replacements can barely give you a good morning. Having said that the rooms are clean. The cleaners all clean the rooms early and the beach is fabulous with plenty of beds available. and the Pool has been redone but it too cold to swim in for me. We used to think that Barbados was paradise but I think that is solely for the celebrities up the West Coast. I think it's better here for young people who like a drink so most of the bad things would not bother them. But if you are getting on in years not the place to go anymore. Sadly that was our last visit to the Hotel but we will try and remember the good times we had there. Read less

What an outstanding holiday. All the staff from the cleaners to the restaurant were so friendly. We will definitely be back. The views from the rooms were amazing. Rooms cleaned every day. The food in the restaurant was amazing. Well done to everyone.

We rented a Studio that was literally on the beach. Our balcony faced the ocean (stunning view) and we had drinks and breakfast on it each morning. The beach was rough during our stay, but it did calm down towards the end of our stay. Nice and sandy and gradual. The kitchenette was fully equipped (fridge, stove, microwave) and the cleaning staff were friendly and kept our unit clean each day. Front desk was helpful when we had questions. Only negatives would be the noise from the road at night with cars and motorbikes racing around in the middle of the night (bring ear plugs). We had a car to explore the beaches and sites. Parking at the hotel was limited and very tight, so fold your mirrors in when you park! Lots of restaurants and a couple of supermarkets (Massey's and Trimart) near by, all within walking distance. Rum and Banks beer cheap, everything else expensive. Our unit was a bit dated, but our bed was comfortable and it did the trick. You're in Barbados, so you shouldn't be spending your time in your room. For the price, this hotel was excellent value! Great views, central location, very functional, and staff are very friendly and helpful!! Thanks for a great stay! Read less
