The hotel

The adventure of a jungle safari comes alive right before your eyes at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. With lush surroundings and beautiful savannahs, you'll be transported to another world when you step through the front doors. From restaurants, viewing platforms, and possibly even your room, you can watch zebra, giraffes and gazelles roam free and graze in their natural environments. Little ones can learn more about the fascinating animals, and even be a junior researcher for a day. And when you're not watching the animals in awe, you can take a dip in one of the pools, feast on some good food, or hit the parks in a matter of minutes! The adventure never ends here.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my daughters 10, 13 y.o. We planned 1 day at the animal kingdom park on our way to visit friends in another part of Florida. And we’ve always wanted to stay at this property. I’ve stayed at other Disney properties and really enjoyed this one. Honestly because it wasn’t so over the top Disney princesses etc. my kids and I all agree the decor and general vibe feels really cool, and interesting to be learning about African culture as well as the animals. Lobby and check in were impressive aesthetically and very quick and easy. Our room wasn’t ready but I had a reservation at Sanna for lunch which worked out well. Staff is very friendly in Disney fashion. The food was good and we of course enjoyed the bread service as other reviews noted. We loved seeing the animals of course as we had lunch. Our room was very comfortable and though we were not booked in a Savana room we still had views of animals to our surprise. It was beautiful to see the giraffes snuggling right in front of our balcony. Beds super comfy and no complaints for the two night stay. Pool was nice but cold. It’s a Disney experience with tons of kids which is to be expected. Managed to get loungers and though overpriced their drinks are good. There’s a decent hot tub but I recommend having more than one like the grand California Disney hotel. Lots of adults look for a break here so it an be crowded. We enjoyed the arcade and the playroom one night to paint ceramics and watch a movie when it rained. The shuttle to the park was as expected and no issues. The fitness center was decent but TINY. Everyone in there shared but I expected a bit larger better equipped gym for this price point. Overall lots to do here for a quick stay and staff was welcoming and friendly. If you are looking for a splurge and love animals - stay here. Read less

It's a fun hotel but it's pretty run down. Rooms must be 20+ years old, the bathrooms are particularly dingy. The kids loved it, the adults not so much. The rooms and pool area could really do with a refurb. The lighting is all very dark, especially in the 1980's bathrooms.

Our hotel room was spacious and comfortable - easily enough space for 3 adults [our young adult daughter was with us] with two double beds. And to see giraffes and other animals from the room was amazing and a little unexpected as we had booked a standard room. Also - the laundry facilities here were great - we needed them to prepare for the second half of our Florida trip. Read less
