The hotel

For a budget bolthole, Centara Kata Resort has a lot going for it. Its location, range of boldly designed rooms, and family-oriented treats all defy the price tag. This means it’s become a favourite for savvy travellers wanting to see Phuket without paying for all the bells and whistles of the fancier resorts. A small hotel, it sits near the shops and restaurants of central Kata, a free shuttle ride from the white sands of Kata Beach; and that’s what most stay here for. But families spending a day back at base are welcomed with three pools, trimmed with a swim-up bar, Jacuzzi, aqua beds, and water slide, as well as a fitness centre, kids’ club, and all-day Thai and International dining.

The hotel location is great. I loved it. We can just walk out from the hotel less than 5 minutes and you can get any you want, food, pharmacy, shopping, massage. Everything was a good deal. The service was amazing. Staff are very friendly and helpful 🙂. Thank you 😊

Overall the hotel is good however it could certainly do with a refurb of the pool or a lick of paint. The breakfast is brilliant and food is spot on. Staff are polite and friendly going the extra mile. Rooms where always cleaned Location is also a plus number of restaurants, bars and beach nearby

Stayed here for 8 nights and loved it. I had a 1 bedroom room that had a kitchen (which I didn't use) and a separate kitchen living area. Bedroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Room was serviced daily and was very well cleaned. Great service and lovely house keeping staff. Friendly and efficient. Breakfast was included each day and there was a lot of variety. Something for all tastes although I mostly stuck to familiar items. I had a number of lunches and dinners at the resort restaurant. Prices were a little higher than nearby restaurants but the food was excellent and dining in was convenient. The beach was cut off by Club Med and although the walk to the beach (resort was about midway between the two beach access points) was easy enough, for those who wanted it there was a shuttle bus service. I was happy to walk but tried the shuttle one day just to see where it dropped people off. This resort had some themed food events. One day it was skewers and another they cooked Pad Thai. They also had evenings with different themes including a traditional dance performance. This resort is good for families with two pools, one of which had a water slide and a children's play area. The other pool (just outside my room) had an area where you could order meals. The burgers were good although I usually chose Thai food (well, it was Thailand!). A 7/11 around the corner was great for an after dinner ice-cream. Tried the sweets but decided an ice-cream was a good option and an excuse to go for an evening walk. There was a good range of market stalls within walking distance and a Finding store that had good leather goods including shoes, sandals, belts and handbags. Also had a basement with a good range of reasonably priced clothing. Similar to that available in the markets, but it had one feature not available in the market stalls, air conditioning! Check-in and check-out were efficient and the reception area was comfortable enough for the long wait for driver pick-up. Reception staff were not only efficient, but also offered bottled water. I would happily stay here again. Although the resort had no direct beach access the location was good from the point of view of restaurants and markets. The shuttle to the beach would make up for the lack of direct beach access. Read less

It’s a nice clean hotel but is very tired in places and could do with a refurbishment. Rooms were spacious. Restaurant staff need to improve on service. Good location. The main issue is we stayed at Centara AO Nang before this and that was amazing so I was a little disappointed on arrival.
