Casa Monica Hotel

St Augustine, Gold Coast Beaches

The hotel

Restored to its 1888 glory, and registered in the National Trust Historic Hotels of America, this Moorish castle-like landmark is a very special place to stay. With authentic period features and decor, you really will feel like you have taken a step back into yesteryear. This hotel was the hang-out of aristocracy and royalty; inside, it's all tapestries, velvet and chandeliers, with top-class dining and discreet service. It's in the heart of the Historic District, where you'll find boutiques, antique shops, museums and more. The Poseidon Spa is a great addition to this luxurious hotel and provides the perfect place for some relaxation and pampering.

First time to stay at this resort, very nice and comfortable, feels like home, nice bar, and within walking distance of pretty much everything, wish they had bikes to rent in the hotel. Very nice gifts in the hotel but very pricey.

I picked this hotel due to its location, historic nature, elegance and spa. It was a disappointment in several areas. The hotel stairways were being recarpeted and painted and were blocked off, leaving guests to ride on two small elevators, of which only one ever worked. Fire exits were blocked with art posters or signs apologizing for the mess. I overheard a staff me,her say this would be going on for a while, so beware. Room service was great, after you spent too much time playing Guess the Menu. The ones in the room are several months out of date, but you can't get an accurate one because "the chef likes to change things up," the front desk will tell you cheerfully. Change is nice, but not afer a 10-hour drive and the three things you had hoped to order are no longer available. A Marriott property of this order should have accurate printed menus without hand written corrections copied on the front office copier. Finally, the spa is over priced and with only marginal services. The 50 minute relaxation massage was akin to a lotion rub down. Ask for a Swedish massage instead. The facial was light on treatment and heavy on price. I've had more intensive treatment for half the price at Massage Envy. On the plus side, it is a great location right in the middle of the historic area with many things you'll want to see within a five minute walk. Read less

My husband and I spent my birthday weekend at Casa Monica. We enjoyed our stay at this nice boutique style hotel. It was clean (which is the main thing I look for when selecting a hotel) and the staff was friendly and attentive. Upon checkin we were greeted with a smile, champagne, and a voucher for a free dessert at the bar/restaurant. A nice touch, but it would have been nice if the dessert voucher were for two. In addition to the gallery the hotel is full of beautiful art in the rooms and in the halls on every floor. We also enjoyed a couples massage at Poseidon spa, which is attached to the hotel. The massage was excellent, but be forewarned this is not a full service spa. It is a small day spa without any amenities aside from the shower in the locker room. The waiting area is just off the front desk of the spa which gives very little privacy to guests waiting in robes to be called in for their massages. Overall if I visit st Augustine again I’d stay at Casa Monica, but I’d probably skip the spa in favor of a full service option. Read less

Stayed here for the 4th of July weekend. Great pool, very pleasing lobby that extends decor to hallways which makes trekking to some rooms more appealing. Access to the beach club was a plus. Was in FL picking up a puppy which was welcomed there. Will definitely stay there again.
