Mayfair at Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove, Miami

The hotel

Mixing an intimate feel with a super-central spot in upmarket Coconut Grove, and the uber-cool styling you’d expect from a Miami hotel, The Mayfair has it all. In fact you don’t even need to venture out — the Miami scene comes to you, with the hotel’s Above Mayfair rooftop pool lounge featuring weekly ‘Sunset of Miami’ pool parties, Friday night happy hours, resident DJs, a curved Gaudi-esque seating wall complete with fireplace, a casual food menu, and custom cocktails. The rooftop is the hub of the action by day too, with its heated swimming pool and views over Miami and Biscayne Bay. Downstairs holds its own treasures though, with the Spartico trattoria’s authentic Italian dishes cooked up in an authentic Ambrogi oven, the Jurlique Spa’s organic products, and your spacious guestroom’s Japanese soaking tub.

We use a Groupon for this stay. The hotel was nice but could use a few renovations. I believe the are short staffed. We had to wait some time to check in an out. There was also one night when we call for ice. The never came, so I sent my husband down to the restaurant to collect some. The is also a $30/day valet parking fee. There are no free… Read more

It’s different (used to be quite hip and cool) than your standard cookie cutter hotel but The Mayfair at Coconut Grove has seen better days. It is in a great location and it was clean but I do not like hotels that say they have WiFi but then you struggle to pull up anything while trying to actually use it. It is in a great location and it was clean but I do not like hotels that say they have WiFi but then you struggle to pull up anything while trying to actually use it. The restaurant staff needs a manager to oversee what is going on....we ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and our server got it wrong because he was chatting to staff while inputting it Into the computer. Housekeeping staff was very nice and the front desk lady was nice as well. Coconut Grove is always a fun place to stay but there is construction going on directly next door and the rooms were loud!!! The Mayfair may have seen us for the last time. Read less

Do not let the pictures and ratings fool you. This hotel is may be a 2 or 3 star hotel at best. It is faded and dirty. The rooms are disgusting. The real issue is that the guest rooms are connected to an outdoor atrium. As such, they are filled with humid air that is then hit with air conditioning. The result: condensation everywhere. The real issue is that the guest rooms are connected to an outdoor atrium. As such, they are filled with humid air that is then hit with air conditioning. The result: condensation everywhere. The rooms are wet and moldy and therefore they smell disgusting. The bedding smells horrible and because all of the furniture is wet, it is fading and dirty. The lamps are lighting are horrendous and they use the cheapest lights bulbs making the lighting absolutely awful. The only good thing is that the bathrooms are very nice. The staff tried to help me and agreed to move my room. The second room was moderately better, but I had to spray the entire bed with cologne, otherwise the musty smell would have ensured and second sleepless night. Read less

This was my second stay at the Mayfair. This is an intimate hotel with incredible architectural details you just don’t see anymore. We arrived late and were starving. The valet was super helpful with local dining choices. We decided to eat at the hotel’s restaurant and are so glad we did. They have a open wood-fired oven and know how to put it to good use. We shared a fresh made pizza, the empanadas, grilled octopus, tuna tartare tostados, and churrasco. Everything was super delicious. I didn’t get to enjoy the rooftop pool but did pop up that night to take a look. Beautiful views with private cabanas and a great looking bar. There is a full spa here too. Definitely will return.
