The hotel

Mixing an intimate feel with a super-central spot in upmarket Coconut Grove, and the uber-cool styling you’d expect from a Miami hotel, The Mayfair has it all. In fact you don’t even need to venture out — the Miami scene comes to you, with the hotel’s Above Mayfair rooftop pool lounge featuring weekly ‘Sunset of Miami’ pool parties, Friday night happy hours, resident DJs, a curved Gaudi-esque seating wall complete with fireplace, a casual food menu, and custom cocktails. The rooftop is the hub of the action by day too, with its heated swimming pool and views over Miami and Biscayne Bay. Downstairs holds its own treasures though, with the Spartico trattoria’s authentic Italian dishes cooked up in an authentic Ambrogi oven, the Jurlique Spa’s organic products, and your spacious guestroom’s Japanese soaking tub.

Walking distance to the art festival was spot on! Great location. Old hotel, but has charm. Friendly staff. No fan in bathroom so each shower was a steam bath and poor lighting for applying make up. Would I stay there again? Not sure.

I wrote a review, was contacted by the Front Office Director, offered new accommodations and apologies. I was pretty impressed with the speed in which he read the review and contacted me. We set up an evening for this weekend with accommodations in the Presidential Suite. I have to say, it did not disappoint. You can tell in the photos. It was luxurious, spacious, comfortable, everything. We were able to check in early, enjoy the pool, take a nice nap in the big king-size bed and relax. The next morning we had room serviced breakfast (try the chocolate pancakes!) and a comfortable check out. The stay was wonderful. Thank you Mr. S. You made it worth it. Read less

I chose this hotel because I fell in love with its architecture and I saw it was within walking distance of a lot of shops and bike paths. The hotel has a very posh feel to it, not in a snobby way. When we walked up to the front door, a beautiful wooden door, it automatically opened, and it just felt like we were taken care of from that moment on.… Read more

When we walked up to the front door, a beautiful wooden door, it automatically opened, and it just felt like we were taken care of from that moment on. The hotel room itself was spacious and relaxed. We had a Japanese soaking tub but didn't use it. The rooftop pool is gorgeous and zen. We rented bikes for 24 hours and were able to easily store them on the back patio of our room. They also gave us a generous check out time extension since we wanted to go for a long bike ride that morning. I wish we had been able to stay longer. I highly recommend this hotel. Read less

Nice little getaway spot. Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff in lobby, housekeeping not so much. Will definitely return. Breakfast at the Mayfair Kitchen was pretty good. Did not try the spa this trip. Highly recommend this hotel.

I am basing this review on the fact that this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel which cost me over $200 a night. I literally spent less than 12 hours in this hotel and it was more than enough. My girlfriend and I arrived the night of the Superbowl. We were greeted by very friendly valet staff and an equally friendly woman at the front desk. From then on it all went down hill. We made our way to the room via the girl who was asleep in the corridor outside our room. Upon entering the room, it was the definition of dark and dingy. The room was tiny with the bed taking up most of the room. Only one side of the bed had a bed side table. The room felt dirty. My 30 year old girlfriend was scared to sleep on one side of the bed which kind of said it all. We wanted to watch the Superbowl in the room but the TV aerial was broken. It was only picking up a very scrambled signal. We called the front desk to ask for a maintenance guy to take a look but he arrived after the game had finished. When he did arrive he basically said "there's nothing i can do, all TVs in this hotel have this issue". I mentioned the room was dark, it was so dark that even when all the lights were turned on (except one which didn't work), i struggled to see properly to read for example. I didn't explore the rest of the hotel, but i can only hope that for the (not that cheap) price, the remainder of the hotel was better than the room itself. Read less
