I stayed here with my family for a quick stay-cation Father’s Day weekend. Being that it is a luxury brand of Marriott one would assume they would be on top of safety measures. DEFINITELY NOT. There is no social distancing reminders anywhere. The pool and water park are a joke- the chairs are all on top of each other. They are not on top of changing the towels covering lounge chairs. There is no one checking temperatures, no one sanitizing around the pool, and food service took forever. The valet parking is extremely overpriced at $42 a day - oh and don’t forget the resort fee another $40 per day. Overall I did not feel safe or comfortable at this hotel. I sanitized the guest room top to bottom as I did not have confidence it was done after my check-in experience. For the money I would not recommend this hotel. Read less

I do not normally believe in bad reviews. I find them to not be helpful and any place can have a bad day, especially with covid. So, out of respect for the good employees I will only talk about two specific issues, even though there were many more. 8 families booked the "Unlimited" golf package for fathers day weekend. We thought it would be fun for the family to use the water park while all the dads play two rounds of golf. Package is very clear saying day of Arrival and replays with a $25 fee for the cart or something. They charge the room the full fee and take off the bill when you check out. Everything seemed fine until check out when they did not remove one of the rounds. I went back after reviewing the bill and said you forgot to take one of the rounds off. The gentleman at the front desk said no it's only one round. I explained its the unlimited package and not the one round package. A back and fourth a few times later and he only offered to call the golf shop. I'm getting annoyed the guy didn't take a min to check what I'm telling him. This is in front if a line of people waiting to see the front desk. Then the starter or manager comes to the lobby and from behind the people waiting in line starts aggressively screaming NO NO NO its not included. Never is the arrival day included. You don't get a free round. I was mortified. This is a 5 star luxury hotel. They made me feel like I was begging for a free breakfast. I couldn't pull it up while on the line and had no choice to pay for it. I go outside and 5 min later am able to pull up from their own website, the exact details of the package I booked clearly says arrival day is included and the rest of the details. The entire reason we came to the hotel in the first place. We spent many 1000's there between 8 families just in food and drinks. The front desk guy STILL WOULDN'T honer the booking. He made me go into the golf shop to argue it. I can not tell you how infuriating this is. Now the golf shop has to call the aggressive confrontational guy to defer on the details on their own website. Now the golf guy says I can't do it, please tell the front desk we say it's ok. I have to go back to the front desk and ask them a 3rd time to just honor their booking. It's insane. I've stayed in motels in the 3rd world that treat their customer better. Making me publicly beg for what was a clearly worded "unlimited" golf package is the reason I would NEVER go back. The other 7 families didn't have time or didn't notice and all had a bad experience checking out. 16 individual unhappy customers doesn't seem like a great business model. None of us would ever go back, Our dinner bill alone one was over 3k. A hotel that actually cares has name cards of the Managers accessible to guests. Not the JW still no idea how to find it. Take what you want from this. I am also a long time Gold member with Mariott. Now the dangerous part: One of the couples was in Tidal cove on the Master Blaster waterside and suffered a pretty bad injury that was no fault of hers. They smashed into the steps at 30MPH. THERE WAS NO LIFE GAUARD ON DUTY. Yes, you read that correct. There is ONLY 1 POOL WHERE ALL THE SLIDES CONVERGE. No Life guard. the manager told them it didn't matter and can't help them because a life guard wouldn't have prevented it from happening. My kids were on a tube on the covered slide and smashed into two random children that climbed half way up the slide. No life guard was watching and that had a good 10 min between riders since they mostly wanted to go on the fast one. Extremly lucky neither kids were badly hurt or worse. This was on top of the million little things I would hope they improve once they are open for longer than 3 weeks. I opted for a bad review to get managements attention. I don't want anything other than someone else to not get hurt or be embarrassed like I was. At the end of the day I'm not going to be bullied and shamed into asking for what's part of the package. Every other couple left there with the charge if thats telling how difficult it was. Someone needs to train people how to be luxury hotel guest relations. if the guy took 5 min to look or ask someone if what I was showing him was correct it all could have been avoided. It left a bad aggravating taste on fathers day thats for sure Read less

Here is a list of the unjustified charges and issues we have with this facility: 1. the parking is outrageously expensive and is not clearly listed when you book on certain sites. BUYER BEWARE. They will lie to you at the front desk about this but surprise when you arrive. a room. ie: 37.00 per day for self parking and $48.00 per day for valet with long waits. We were disgusted to learn of these charges at the time of check in. 2. 40.00 per day resort fee. For what? Everything is closed at the hotel and we were simply sleeping for a couple of nights and are local. The lobby has 2 chairs to sit in that are uncomfortable. Most walkways are closed off to guests. 3. room is musty smelling with carpet that is clean but smells of an odor and the guest are up all night with congestion. 4. view from room is of an ugly eyesore of a waterslide 5. rooms have paper thin walls and you hear doors slamming, talking in adjacent room, children screaming. 6. whopping 13% plus taxes on top of the bill. 7. 202 per night room charge for 2 nights is 404.00 that turns into a $546.00 total charge. You have $150.00 of taxes and resort fees in addition to you room bill. Additionally you get suckered into parking charges you are now paying over 300.00 per night including all of these hidden and extra charges 8. The covid controls at the facility are weak with nobody at the front entrance to take temperature and monitory mask usage. We walked into the entrance 8 times during our stay and 2 out of the 8 times the station was manned. The other times it was EMPTY. 9. hand sanitizer is EMPTY in the elevators 10. pressure washing main walkways is DANGEROUS and slippery for the guests to walk on. 11. the restaurant Bourbon Steak is a gigantic ripoff with average quality meats selections and outrageous pricing. Fatty steak for 75.00. Bottled water at 9-11.00. 12. The surrounding area does not support the price structure of this facility which only increases as time goes on. Its a joke folks. Not worth the visit and better off staying at an airbnb when they reopen and not visiting the area. Read less
