Kimpton EPIC Hotel

Miami, Florida

The hotel

Epic by name and epic by nature, the Kimpton Epic sits along the water’s edge, overlooking the glistening Biscayne Bay. Take a dip into one of the two rooftop pools, and sip on a cocktail in your private poolside cabana. Seeing as you’re set on the waterfront, seafood is a must, and you can dine looking out on the sea itself. In need of some me-time? Head to the spa for a treatment, or try your hand at a yoga class. And when the evenings roll in, head out and experience one of Miami’s cool bars, or retreat to your room for some down-time.

My wife and I had high expectations coming to stay for 3 days in this hotel. While the hotel is esthetically pleasing, the service and value was the opposite. First the pool closes at 7PM (really in Miami?) then two out of the three days they shut down the pool area for private events. This is very unfair towards people that pay a premium, to stay here (over 500.00 a night!) and to not be able to use a facility as important as the pool is in a trip to Miami is unacceptable. We could have stayed at a nicer hotel without a pool for much less. Second they nickel and dime you for everything! Why a 29.00 a day "resort fee" How is this a resort? Why is that not mentioned prior to booking? If it is , its conveniently placed in very small print at the bottom. They charge for a service fee and delivery to pick up a bagel from downstairs!! I had the intention of having a conference for about 40 people in my company, and would need 20-25 rooms for that week, yet after repeatedly leaving messages, didn't even get a call back. (business must be that good right to turn down sales?). Maybe our expectations were too high, or just maybe they don't like that my wife is a beautiful intelligent African American women? hmmm . My advice , there are plenty of hotels in the Miami area, research and pick a better option. Read less

This hotel is beautiful and the bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in but the good things about this hotel stop there for a business traveler. There is no desk in the room, just a round table with kitchen type chairs. There is not a lot of work space and it is not comfortable to sit at with a laptop for any length of time. When you call for room service or the front desk the calls go unanswered and you have to call back sometimes 5 or 6 times to get an answer. The hotel restaurants are overpriced for the food they serve and they don’t do separate checks for guests on expense accounts who need that. I ordered room service and my Wagyu burger ordered medium took almost 2 hours to get as they sent the wrong sandwich first and when I finally got it, the burger was burned and so dry I couldn’t eat it. The elevator requires a room key to go up and every guest I was in there with had to try multiple times to get the elevator to recognize the card. With so many hotel choices in the area I would not stay at this hotel again. Read less

My room was cleaned everyday and everyone working at the hotel was very kind. I had dinner at Zuma one night and the food was incredible. Overall it was an amazing experience/trip. I will definitely stay here again in the future. Read less

The location is great and the view was amazing. The staff was very friendly and made my stay very memorable. My flight was delayed and they gave me a late check out with ease. Staff responds really fast, called the front desk to get extra towels and toiletries, they showed up in under 5 minutes. The front desk staff was always positive and… Read more

Just a lovely hotel! Easy to book! Great service! Not only comfortable but there is, for sure, something more about it and it's some kind of a special luxury atmosphere! Had a great experience! This place is, definitely, a good choice.
