Kimpton EPIC Hotel

Miami, Florida

The hotel

This hotel is Epic by name but is it epic by nature? You bet it is! Described as an ‘extravagant base camp’, it’s counted as one of the best 500 hotels in the world (2015) and we can see why. You have the option of arriving by yacht at the hotel’s very own private marina, spending the rest of the day deep-sea fishing or soaking up the sun. Fancy a swim? You’ve two pools to choose from, one that occupies a sixteenth-floor pool terrace and comes complete with great views and private cabanas for hire. There’s also a state-of-the-art fitness centre and Exhale Spa for massage, facials, scrubs and more. Like the swimming pool, Area 31 is perched on the sixteenth floor to bring you waterfront dining at its finest. Given the hotel’s proximity to the ocean, fresh seafood is a speciality, accompanied by a delicious glass or two of wine. For modern Japanese cuisine, Zuma is ideal or listen to everything from Classic Jazz to the Bossa Nova at the lively Lilt Lounge.

This was my first trip to Miami and to this hotel and I can’t stop raving about it. Check in was incredibly friendly and pleasant with a full personal rundown of the complex and the amenities. The hotel is apparently in the middle of a remodel and I got to experience one of the freshly completed floors. The rooms are impressively spacious, with modern decor and thoughtful touches throughout with a phenomenal balcony with great views with comfortable patio chairs. The bed is also very comfortable for a great night's sleep. While I didn’t get to enjoy the pool, there are two to use overlooking the city. Dinner at Area 31 was also a memorable experience from the great food to the exceptionally friendly service. It was a fun view to be able to see the drawbridge in action during dinner. I will definitely come here the next time I head to Miami and easily give it an A+. Read less

We were in town for an event. The hotel was in a great location to walk or for a short upper trip. Robert checked us in, Miguel was great at breakfast, and I enjoyed the barre class with Amber. We booked with our American Express so got an upgraded room with a nice view. Price was super reasonable.

Just checked in at the Epic for a quick birthday getaway with the hubby and I'm already impressed! Sam at the front desk was the sweetest and very helpful! This will definitely be a getaway to remember!

My husband an I travel quite a bit and we stayed at the EPIC back in May pre-renovation. We stayed here again this past month and it was fabulous! The renovation really brought this property to the next level. The hotel is a great value for what you're getting: updated, modern rooms, complimentary happy hour 5-6 daily, great location and good hospitality. The junior suite is a worthwhile upgrade, as the extra space is wonderful and it's very private. Dinner at Area 31 is a must (particularly if you can get Marcus as your waiter), but skip breakfast and order it in your room instead. The dinner service was absolutely spectacular, to the point that breakfast was slightly disappointing on the service front. The gym offers a free yoga class per guest per stay, which we really appreciate. For a full review, check out our blog post at voyagerguru. com. Read less

Spacious newly remodeled rooms with great views and proximity to some of the best restaurants in town. Don’t discount Brickell area for nightlife and dining. Tasty breakfast, decent gym and pool and accommodating staff. More trendy than I’d prefer but I dig the location. Parking / valet can be a bear...be patient. I will be staying here… Read more
