Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel

Miami, Florida

The hotel

Life’s a beach at the Kimpton Surfcomber, a central hotel boasting direct access onto those famous Miami sands as well as breathtaking ocean views. As an alternative, the over-sized pool is a popular place to laze by, complete with poolside bar serving refreshing cocktails and palm trees swaying in the breeze. There’s also a range of ‘Daylife’ activities on offer, including mixology seminars, kids ice cream breaks and guided Deco Bike tours along the famed Art Deco District and Collins Avenue. When it comes to dining, you’ve plenty on your doorstep but the Gastro Pub Restaurant is well worth a visit with its laid-back, friendly vibe. For a pre-dinner cocktail, The Social Club is ideal and don’t miss out on the complimentary Hosted Wine Hour – held from 5.00-6.00pm in the lobby.

My sole purpose when in Miami Beach and staying at The Surfcomber is getting a great tan. I love this hotel (discovered it last year and came back this year). Spending the whole day at the beach, I can honestly say that the new beach attendants/staff are top notch! There are beach rules (to make sure the beach does not turn into complete chaos and to ensure everyone's well-being and comfort)and they enforce them brilliantly. A big thank you to Demetrius, Teodora, Mike, Markel, Brett and Katerina🏖you have made my two weeks on the beach absolutely delightful! As for the rest of the hotel and staff, it was so nice to see Nikola again. Always so helpful and efficient. Room attendant Erika was vey good and attentive. I could tell when it was her day-off as there was always something missing like fresh washcloths , or not replaced/changed like glasses. Details, but still. The same cannot be said of the Social Club food and beverage manager, who should have contacted me after a bad experience during breakfast service. I complained to Ms. Wolfs, who said she would relay my complaint to the food and beverage manager and they would get in touch with me. They never did. I emailed Ms. Wolfs to ask whether it was normal, but never got a response from her either. Goes without saying that I never went back to the Social Club. My room was lovely as usual. With beautiful view of the courtyard. Very quiet. The gardens are wonderful. The Asian-American pool attendant was extremely efficient and friendly, always a smile and a Hi! Except for the faux-pas at the Social Club: another perfect stay. Read less

I write this review with a heavy heart as we had a wonderful week in Miami but after leaving have nearly £3k of unjustified payments from this hotel that I am still trying to recuperate. We choose this hotel as it was advertised as a ‘party’ hotel where it had pool parties every day from 12-11pm over Miami Music Week. On the Sunday night, we were asked to turn our music down after the party stopped on two occasions, which we did. We even left the hotel to go to a bar over the road out of courtesy to the hotel and the guests. We then came back briefly to get changed before going out, played music quietly and then the police turned up and sympathetically told us we had to leave. We didn’t cause a fuss and left but to be charged for extra nights is completely unjustified. If this was a family hotel I could understand, but they held blaring parties all week and across the 3 rooms we booked, we spent over £15k with them so to be treated like this is not just unfair, but disgusting. As you can see from the title, one of the guest who was forced out the hotel is quadriplegic... I have been trying to resolve this amicably since the beginning of April, but the follow up customer service is painful, responses are few and far between so I felt like my hand was forced to upload my honest experience. Nice hotel, great location and service minded staff. Wonderful pool area and just next to the beach. I’d like to give a big up for Jercy, the receptionist, she was really helpful! I will be coming back!

Theodora and Michael were quick to make the beach experience awesome. The food and beverage selections at High Tide and the hotel restaurant were very good. We are three meals in the property. We enjoyed the free wine hour, too. A few negatives: our room was not ready but an hour early although we asked for an early check in in advance. But, our suite was big and very nice. Also the party next door beginning Saturday night lasted until two in the morning. Lastly, the bathrooms are small and have community toiletries-bring your own. Read less
