Metropolitan by COMO

Miami Beach, Miami

The hotel

With just 74 rooms, this latest offering from the COMO group (of the Metropolitan by COMO London) is able to deliver truly personal, highly celebrated levels of service. You will be very well looked after here, especially if you take a break from South Beach’s nightlife and retail therapy to recharge your batteries at the COMO Shamabala Urban Spa. Indulge in a treatment or simply revel in the Atlantic Ocean views from the rooftop hydrotherapy pool. This is the perfect end to a day spent hitting the boutiques and shops of Lincoln Road, just ten minutes walk away. As the sun sets enjoy famous Floridian seafood dishes at the Metropolitan’s Traymore restaurant with al fresco beachfront dining available. We recommend breakfast here too as the pastry chef is superb! The building is one of Miami’s protected art deco gems, with original features galore. The hotel sits on a long stretch of golden sandy beach, separated from the sand by just the wooden boardwalk that runs along this stretch of South Beach, connecting you to many restaurants and bars the area has to offer.

Stayed at Como for four nights last week with my best friend. Was thoroughly impressed by the stylish, clean, gorgeous, hotel on the beach. We were upgraded to a spacious, lovely, suite by a very kind guest service agent named Alastair. He was so warm, inviting and helpful. The Bellman Johnny warmly greeted us and helped us to our room. Johnny took amazing care of us all week booking a special lunch, dinner, and less touristy ideas for nightlife. Johnny helped us start to finish and always checked in with us after an evening out. He was tremendous. Jeremy was yet another standout Who was key in ensuring our trip was special for my friend’s bday, too. Jeremy called up to make sure all details were properly handled and was very smooth in dealing with a small blip. Another stand out at the pool bar was Marco who was a stellar mixologist. There was another wonderful bartender who was fantastic, friendly, and efficient, but I forgot his name. Wish I had that detail to give him a plug as he was fabulous. - very short hair, glasses, big smile, may be from Cuba if I recall from our chat. The mgmt should be so proud of their staff. A good hotel is made great by happy, professional, staff. I don’t consistently see this high level at other spots. Como oozes with a sensational staff. I did compliment one of the very present, available, managers, who couldn’t have been more humble receiving the praise. He, too, was lovely and warm. Sergio, sent us on our way, and was a lovely bellman who deserves a fine compliment, too. Como is a marvelous hotel which we stumbled on by good fortune, and one which we will return to. Again, kudos and thanks to the staff who made an impact on our stay at Como. The facilities are fantastic, but it’s the people who put this boutique hotel at a different level in my opinion. With each smile, effort, and act of professionalism, Como’s staff made 2 vacationers from Boston feel special, content, and craving a return. Thank you, Como. Room 611 Read less

Stayed here in early July for two days, as a precursor for a cruise. The check-in was absolutely flawless, and the attendants were all very polite and friendly. We had a two room suite facing the canal on an upper floor. The luggage was delivered to our room promptly. The room was very nice, with a lovely muted pastel color scheme. The view to the canal, over the street, was quite nice. I'd have preferred an ocean view, but it was significantly more expensive. Everything was spacious and well maintained. The bathroom was particularly lovely. It did take some time to cool the room, as there seem to only be a single vent in each room. I actually called maintenance thinking it was malfunctioning, but once it had the room cooled, it was pleasant the rest of the stay. There was a bit of street noise some nights, but nothing intolerable. The beds were comfortable and made for a restful sleep. They also provided us an ironing board and iron on request. The pool out back is very large and just perfect for a swim. Bar service is also very good. The semi-private beach out back is outstanding, and the service there is also a highlight, with chairs and umbrellas put up for you when you arrive. The beach itself is also very nice, with minimal rocks or sharp objects underfoot in the water. I would say the rooftop pool, which I had assumed from the images was a large hot tub, is actually not heated and most of the jets were off the day we were up there. If there was a way to activate them, no one there seemed to know how. But, we preferred the beach, anyway. We did have breakfast there, which was pretty tasty, with an Asian flare to it. One night we had cocktails, which were interesting and flavorful, keeping with the Asian theme. The view from the terrace out back at night is wonderful and very tranquil. Overall, this is a great hotel, with modern looks and excellent service. And the wonderful beach just tops it off. Highly recommended. Read less
