Great hotel for couples or young people.

The Moxy is a great hotel. For people who are looking for hotels, this one is great for couples, solo, but it is NOT for families. The rooms are small and there is not a lot of space to store your luggage. The room we had was a double room with a view to the ocean, enough space for both of us. I asked the hotel if they could do something special for my wife since the day we were arriving was her birthday, and they surely did something special. They added messages on the mirrors and added balloons in the room. Over all our stay was great. The rooftop was amazing, we spent most of the time there because during the morning there was not a lot of sun hitting the pool, but at the rooftop there was sun all day, and you also have a small pool with plenty of places to sit and relax. At 5 pm they have a bar, but before that I would recommend to bring your own beverages (non alcoholic, because it is not allowed to bring outside alcohol there). The bar closes at 9 pm, and the rooftop closes at 11 pm. The 2 times we were up there, we were the only ones. So basically we had the whole thing for ourselves.
There were a couple of things that we were not happy about, but we did not think that it was a big deal but could be for someone else. 1. We noticed that the staff even though they were friendly they were not that happy. I understand that hotels get a lot of people and sometimes you are not in that great of a mood to work, but if you are in this type of business, I think that people should be more approachable and have a different attitude. 2. Once we finally got our room, we tried to call the front desk to ask to bring the ironing board and iron to our room. We called 2 times and no one answered. We basically had to go out of the room and since the cleaning crew was outside we asked them to bring it, if they were not out there we would have had to go down to the lobby and ask for it. 3. The food at the SERENA restaurant was ok. It did not have any flavor, and it was a little overpriced.
Location of the hotel is amazing. The only thing that I would say is that South Beach is more for the younger generation than for we the old timers. There are a lot of bars and restaurants to choose from. One that I recommend for breakfast is News cafe, great breakfast, but overpriced, but it is the touristy side. The famous Ocean Drive is 2 blocks away from the hotel. The beach is also 2 blocks away from the hotel. The hotel does provide free chairs on the beach, but you have to pay for an umbrella ($22 all day) or pay extra for a beach bed. The area is nice an quiet. I would recommend to bring your own drinks and snacks. There are not a lot of options for that on the beach. Just be careful, we did not bring alcohol because we were told that you cannot bring alcohol, but we saw a lot of people with canned beers and drinks. So, I would be careful with that, but still bring your own.
You have several stores, CVS, 7Eleven, Walgreens, Target at walking distance to buy the things you forgot and need and to buy drinks and snacks.
As I said, overall the Moxy hotel is a great hotel to stay at, but do not expect a 4+ star hotel. It is a hotel that gives you the essentials. Do Not expect rooms to be big or spacious. I would not recommended for families, it would be very crowded.
